  1. I am traveling solo on Oasis this fall. I am looking forward to a respite from some elder care responsibilities at home. I'd like to dine alone some nights. May I reserve a table for one in advance in one of the no-fee dining rooms or does RCI frown on "wasting" a table on one person? Making small talk with strangers really zaps my energy and I am hoping to use this trip to recharge, not expend.

    Thanks.

I cruised solo on the Oasis TA cruise in October 2014, had MTD, requested a table for one every night, and enjoyed myself! Some nights I reserved ahead, some nights I did not. There are many opportunities to interact with your fellow cruisers if you choose.:)

  2. I was on the Oasis in October for the debut of "Cats", which was boring to me. Most of the audience was gone by the intermission.

Band with steel drums by the pool is one of the "happy" things I LOVE while cruising. There's not enough of that on the Oasis.

Broccoli is cheaper than asparagus, and is also healthful. Maybe asparagus stays fresh longer, and the servings are smaller. Asparagus takes up less space.(just speculating)

jrljel, You have every right to ask for help on CC. If people can't reply with a positive spirit, why reply at all. In fact, why would anyone want to join anything with such negative replies? Those folks would do us all a favor, and stay off the internet.

The folks here on CC have supplied great info with great attitudes for years for our family, in which we are extremely appreciative. Thanks to those who help with joy! Happy cruising!

  3. RTM is probably even smaller than SOU, but yes just a single runway. Thought I'd double check because very very few people even realize that RTM airport exists; and it's been a very [70s] very [on a DC9] long time since I flew from there.

P.S. It was May; not April; for the IOS Transatlantic, I was on it too....

Thanks. The airfare was more reasonable when I booked last week than AMS, so I figured it may be easier than travel from AMS. I tried to edit my post when I realized the IOS TA was May, not April, but without success. What a relaxing cruise that was!:)

  4. Are you sure youre flying into RTM and not AMS? RTM isnt a very busy airport, but yes there will be taxi service there.

From AMS youll want to book a car service as a taxi would be expensive as its a fair distance. Alternately take the train from AMS yo Rotterdam Centraal and grab a cheap taxi for the last couple of km from there

I am flying into RTM from LHR. Is RTM similar to SOU in size? I sailed on the IOS Transatlantic in April, flew out of SOU to DUB, then ATL. Thanks!:)

  5. We(18 of us) will be sailing on the beautiful Liberty of the Seas this coming Saturday(June 14th)!:D Everyone is very excited!

I have finally finished reading this whole thread(slow computer). The information that you all have provided for future LOS cruisers is invaluable. Thanks!:)

Does anyone that has recently sailed the Liberty Western itinerary have your compasses? The only ones I can find are a year old. Thanks.

  6. I was on DCL a few weeks ago, in 2653!!! I just love being "rocked-to-sleep" on a cruise, but not this time. My stateroom was the last room, aft, and there was a door that was used by the crew on both sides of me. Room service, stateroom attendants, officers, and other crew were in and out throughout the day and night!! Needless to say, I was lacking in sleep because everytime someone would use the door at the very end, it would slam shut!!! There was also a loud noise when we were arriving into port; must have been the anchors?!?!

To make a long story short....too late:D ...I did write about the noise on the comment card, but I also know that this noise is unavoidable. Next time I will just avoid that room and others like it.

Other than that....I had a great cruise!!! I always do on DCL!!!!:)
