  1. Hi! Does anyone know if NCL (Breakaway) does the ship tours? I have done Celebrity’s tour before and includes most areas of the ship, including the bridge. It’s typically a paid activity. My GF and I are taking her 11yo old son on the Breakaway on March 19, 2023 and he is fascinated with ships!

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Hi, glad to hear you had a great time! Thanks for making the effort to answer questions.

    1) Do you know what brand the house wines are, included in the Easy package? Trying to decide on a beverage package. Also, did they offer deals on drink packages on the ship?

    2) Do you have any MDR menus?

    3) Any experience with Internet service, specifically the browse and stream option? I (unfortunately) have a work call on a sea day that requires streaming.

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Here in San Juan this evening, staying at the La Concha. Nice property I suppose, but our room wasn’t ready at 6pm and were told they would call asap when it was ready. That didn’t happen, went back at 7:30 and it was ready, they just never called. Said they would send up our luggage right away, that took 45 minutes. They did offer us comp breakfast for the morning. :) Anyway, I digress ...... Uber does not operate from airport. You must use a taxi which is $17 (if going to pier/Condado area) plus a $3 airport fee and $1 per bag. After tip it was $30 for us. Uber does take you back to the airport, and for the same distance (Pier/Condado) in about $12-13. Hope that helps!

  4. Don't mess with gift certificates, they are a pain to redeem and may have restrictions.

Call 800-722-5443 to directly buy OBC. This is refundable OBC and can be redeemed for cash on the last day of the cruise if there is any left.

Amen to this, I purchased a $500 RCI gift certificate through work points. When I went to redeem through my travel agent, I was told it is required that you book directly with RCI. So I lost $200 in OBC with that deal. And to top it off, they only apply it after booking (yes I had to pay all up front) and I sent RCI an email (per there requirements) on Feb. 9th. STILL have not received the $500 back to my credit card!!

From what I understand, you can’t use it to settle an onboard account either. I was unfamiliar with all of this as I’ve only used a Carnival GC in the past. They can be used on/for anything!

  5. OP here .... I think it would be so much better if RCI were transparent in these situations and explained the process. I called RCI (booked directly) and was told that there were no triples/quad available in any category. So I asked, “are we essentially waiting to see if someone cancels,” and I was told yes, if someone cancels you would be assigned a room. In the same breath she also said that I am “guaranteed to have a stateroom.” So after explaining that I was confused, either we are waiting on someone to cancel or do they have all guarantees factored in? Of course she didn’t know. She again said I was guaranteed a stateroom. I just wanted clarification as to if the guarantees (surely I’m not the only one) are factored in to the overall capacity. So we shall see. Thanks for everyone’s responses!

  6. I think you are misunderstanding context in which the word guarantee is being used, the guarantee relates to the minimum cabin category you can be assigned. It is not a guarantee you’ll definitely get a cabin.

While it doesn’t seem to happen often let’s face it those that pay the least for a cabin category would be first on the chopping block.

Thanks for your reply. However, I would think a minimum cabin category guarantee would also mean you are guaranteed a cabin?

And to assume those that book a guarantee are paying the least isn’t entirely accurate. I can assure you I didn’t pay the least. :) It’s was the only option available, due to it being a last minute booking of Spring Break.

Sounds like I should be good and they will assign at the last minute.

  7. So, it’s been many years since I’ve sailed on RCI. I have a Spring Break cruise booked next week on the Brilliance. When I booked the only option was a Guarantee. The ship has been sold out for at least 3 weeks and I still haven’t been assigned a cabin. I understand that they might assign a day or 2 before, or even at the port. Does RCL “oversell” the ship with the assumption that some will cancel? If the ship is sold out, I don’t understand why they would wait to assign a cabin. I know they will try to upgrade others etc and see what’s left. I just don’t want to wait to the last minute without any options. So I guess my question is ..... is a guarantee REALLY a guarantee or not. RCL says they will definitely have a room etc. I’ve just seen on the boards where some folks have been bumped or scenarios like that. Thanks for some insight.

  8. SO, interesting discussions. I received the email today as well, with the SAVEMORE offer. Went on the RCL website for a mock booking and was given a price. Emailed my TA for a re price. (I booked last week, price I paid vs today was the $200 discount) When TA called RCL they were given a price $140 higher than the price on the RCL website mock booking. Her TA website gave same rate. Strange. I screen shot the mock booking and sent to her as she was curious why the discrepancy. She talked to RCL several times and was still not getting the rate listed on their website (and yes ALL the info was same, date, category etc). Said she was going to do some digging once she got caught up. Basically, the $200 means nothing IMO. They put out these “sales, specials” and end up removing something (rate or whatever) to make up the difference. Never hurts to try though! My TA was great about trying to get it done ... just out of her hands I suppose, if RCL doesn’t even know what’s going on! ;)

  9. Hi all,

First time cruiser on Celebrity. I booked a CAT X (Verandah Guarantee) on the Equinox July 2, 2017. Was recently assigned 6281 which is a 2C. Totally fine with the assignement based on what I paid. However, my financial situation has changed and I'd be interested in an upsell. The June 2 sailing on the Equinox still has tons of availability, much to my surprise. I would like to ask my TA to contact regarding upsell. Any idea when/IF Celebrity does this? Would it be best to wait 30 days before cruise, as opposed to 73 now? Thanks for you responses based on your experiences.

  10. When you get on board the ship check with the MDR Matri 'D for organizing your dining setting.

As you descend the stairway from deck 7 to the MDR on deck 6 there are areas both left and right

that are suitable for large parties to dine together. Toward the stern of the ship more open areas

are available. More in likely NCL will put either 3 tables of 4 together or they might be able to

fit you in one of the round tables for 8. I have seen parties of 20 have a row of tables 5x4.

The other MDR (Aqua) is not so accommodating for groups although an area port side forward

and adjacent to Le Bistro is a possibility.

I don't speak highly of this area as it is very dark and lacks the ambiance the more open lighted

    dining in the Venetian.

The food service meals in the Venetian MDR are served up from the same galley that is between

the two MDRs. Both of these MDRs are a problem for wheelchair scooter special needs folks as

you need elevator service to go down one deck:

For the Venetian aft MDR go aft to the Spinnaker Lounge (deck 7 Promenade) and take the

    elevator down one floor.

For the Aqua mid-ship MDR use the elevators closest to the Atrium and go down one floor -or-

the Theatre elevators forward going through the smoky casino past Gatsby Bar Le Bistro and

    il Cucina - passageway.

In any event to work your party in for a dining event when you get on board go directly to the

restaurant and discuss the arrangements directly with them - if you go to the Dinner Reservations

Desk next to Guest Relations in the Atrium they can help but normally there is line of folks making

reservations for all restaurant venues on the ship.

Another thought if you are planning these dining events later in the ship's travels and you go to our CC

Meet & Greet meeting - talk directly with the Hotel Director putting the meeting on for assistance.

You are assured of getting pretty much whatever you need that way. Be flexible in the time arrangements

you may have better luck doing dinner while the main show is on in the theatre - dinner and show is

quite a popular concept - work around that for a better group seating.

Good Luck and bon Appetite !

Thank you so much for the information! Exactly what I was hoping for!

  11. I have a few questions regarding the wine and cocktail offerings on the DREAM. I know the Dream doesn't have Alchemy or the like so I am concerned by the variety/quality of the mixed drinks. I personally like a premium alcohol (Grey Goose, Belvedere etc) and a nicer wine. If I purchase the CHEERS package with the $50 per drink max, what is realistically available on the Dream that would be greater than say $10? Is it possible to find better red wines by the glass anywhere on the ship, such as in the Steakhouse? Do you have to eat there to order wine from there? Anybody have any UPDATED wine/cocktail menus?? Thanks so much for the information!!

  12. Interested in a dolphin swim for my teenage daughters. Will be in Freeport AND Nassau in early July. If you have done either and have an opinion I would appreciate input. Basically, is Freeport or Nassau better and which company seems to be the best? Any info is appreciated greatly as it's hard making a decision with so many options.
