  1. I'm looking at Coop Culture website to buy tickets. We are only travelling in August.

I've just done a dummy run though & it's giving me the option to buy for Belvedere.

    Full entrance with guide €16

    Reduced entrance with guide €11.50

Belv, Prent, Gratuito, Pren, Guida €4

Belv, Prent, Gratuito, Guida, Pren, Guida €4

This is the Belvedere, what does this include? What's the difference this and the underground & arena which are currently unavailable? I'm presuming that the underground & arena tickets are the ones that go on sale the first Monday of the month?

    Thank you for any help.

  2. I am new here and have been reading threads on many topics including the Cheers program. It is mentioned a lot that fresh squeezed orange juice is included. I was nosing around on the Carnival website and came across this earlier today. Maybe it has been updated?

Beverages excluded from the program are:

    • Beverages promoted and sold in souvenir glasses
    • Bottles of liquor
    • Beverages offered at the gangway
    • Beverages offered through room service, mini bars and/or other in-stateroom beverage programs
    • Sharing cocktails, floaters, pitchers, tubes and buckets
    • Beverages offered through enomatic wine machines and self-serve beer stations
    • Freshly squeezed orange juice served in the Havana Bar
    • All other beverage-related programs including merchandise, cigars and cigarettes
    • Food items

    That’s been updated this week.

  3. Here is a link to the menu from the Havana bar on the Sunshine from last year.http://www.zydecocruiser.org/CarnivalSunshineMay17/HavanaBarMenupdf.pdf

I had inquired to verify that the fresh squeezed OJ was included in Cheers and it was confirmed via email that it is included. So obviously the sodas would be included as well, but not too sure about bottomless bubbles.

I’m onboard Horizon now, the Beverage managers says that squeezed OJ isn’t included in Cheers.

I have Cheers & was charged for fresh OJ.

  4. I’m back a guest services & they are not backing down that it’s not included.

They say “juices” isn’t “freshly squeezed juices”

They have waived the charge for the one I’ve had but it’s not about the few $ charge it’s the principle. They advertise as including all drinks other than those on the exclusion list which freshly squeezed OJ isn’t.

  5. I’ve read every Cheers thread I’ve come across before sailing. I’m really surprised that I’ve never seen this info posted.

Freshly squeezed OJ isn’t included. I think that’s a bit of a rip off tbh & I’ve looked in the exclusions on Carnival website & it’s not listed. Although on the other hand neither is it listed as being included.

  6. That’s terrible and there is no excuse for it whatsoever. Have you spoken to them?

When all this was blowing up on our trip, we were actually already in Barcelona and within a day of boarding. The previous cruise got charged the imaginary tax so I was on the phone hoping to speak to someone who had a clue. I spent ages on the phone speaking to several People being passed from pillar to post.

Being persistent did pay off. Not only did they send something in writing to me confirming there would be no VAT on my pre bought package, but drinks “bought” on the ship would have no tax applied.

Not only that, but they added $80 OBC to each of us (so $320) for the inconvenience of speaking to people over the months and the headache on this final day. I wonder what idea they got to recover that money!!

It’s certainly worth telling them your pain at their errors. You certainly should not be out of pocket. Argue your case. It’s not unreasonable to expect those costs to be reimbursed.

You would have thought 2 years on they would have worked out how it all works without messing up yet again.

Stranger still, hours later. All cancelled & refunds on the way but we can ring up & add Cheers & Bubbles back to the accounts which I have done. No VAT is going to be added. At least they’ve done the right thing.

  7. But it’s certainly not ok to collect 21% Tax for goods that attract a 10% tariff which they later acknowledge by changing and charging the correct amount on subsequent cruises from Spain on Vista. I await with interest if they get it right on Horizon and wonder if that “what it would have cost you” tax will resurface. That may or may not be law in the US, I’m not in a position to know, but can categorically state it’s not in the EU. I still think that practise is a scam. If you buy goods in a sale, do you pay tax on what you paid or the full unreduced price it once sold for?

Collecting tax that is required by law is one thing and has to be done. But taking it when it’s not chargeable or amount that’s double what should be, is theft or fraud. Now it may have been an oversight and mistake, but the fact they know they got it wrong and refuse to refund, means those terms are valid and accurate.

It gets better, they are refunding everyone’s money for Cheers & Bubbles on Horizon. You can then buy it onboard with the 10% VAT added & at the preboarding price.

The problem with that for me is, Cheers cost me $1350 converted at the rate when I bought it £1109 + £30.52 foreign transaction.

At today’s rate I’m going to be refunded £962 + I’ll be charged another transaction fee. I’m furious

  8. A grand stand view was much better! lol

It’s annoying as I always video ships arriving and departing ports. I had two go pros in action. One forward facing so saw nothing... the other would have captured the whole thing in 4K but the clamp I used felt loose and I didn’t want to risk losing the camera.

Did you go to the meet and greet in the Havana? We must have met I guess... seems a long time ago now.

I did go to the meet & greet in Havana. I only really spoke to a lady called Mary who I was sharing a tour with.

Enjoy your next cruise it sounds wonderful.

  9. Thanks all for the thoughts and advice! We booked the aft balcony in the family harbor. So excited :) Now we just have to wait 11 months till cruise time (luckily I have my wedding and honeymoon between now and then to keep me busy)!

My friend has got s 3 bed aft on the Inaugural cruise. I’m sure you’ll love it.

  10. Ah ok. I was on the 26th also.

And yes, they illegally charged you 21% for your drinks when it should have been 10%.

They refused to hand the money back to those who complained.

Did you get to witness the destruction of the marina in Messina? Scary stuff. I could see from where I was the Ship was wildly off course and would hit about 200 metres before they woke up and wiped out with a tsunami! You always like to think they know what they’re doing but on this occasion they certainly didn’t.

Yes I was in the red frog pub & felt the whole ship move, we went outside & saw the aftermath.

  11. Were you one of those who were refused to be allowed to buy cheers? That was the first cruise after mine.... which luckily for me was the only cruise they got right for cheers out of all the Med cruises that summer from memory.

As you say, let’s hope they’ve learned the correct and legal ways and rates for Horizon. Have a great trip.

I’m off to Singapore in 4 days for my next cruise... luckily there is no FTTF, gratuities, cheers or any of those “extras” to worry about. It’s all inclusive...

I was 18th Aug then 26th Aug I think they were the dates. No I didn’t buy Cheers for either but was charged more VAT on purchases the second cruise.

  12. Can anyone on the cruise use the family harbor lounge? Or is it only for people who stay in those rooms? I am guessing its the latter, but how exactly do they monitor it?

The card for your cabin also opens the doors for the lounge. You could only get in if someone opened the doors for you.
