Heading to FL to catch a ride on RCL Enchantment of the Seas for few days to the Bahamas. this will my first on RCL and have cruise on Carnival in the past to Cozumel and Alaska. This is my first vacation since I have been in the hospital 7 times since the beginning of the year. Just need some R&R in the sun and enjoy some beach and waterslide fun. Have another vacation planned for the holiday via rail to Quebec City Montreal and Toronto. Probably Palm Springs for spring break and then a trip to Ptown and a cruise sometime in July before my partner has to go back to work. He is teacher and I think next year is his last. I "retired" this year after having kidney failure and just walking flights of steps can be challenging. Hope I get a few hits by other lovers of Judy/Dorothy on the cruise. LOL

Hi. I hope your strength will improve in your recovery. Cruising is awesome but often requires a lot of walking and stairs when the elevators are busy. I just returnned from a cruise on the RCCL Allure to the W. Caribbean. Weather was gorgeous. For some reason the FRIENDS OF DOROTHY are not frequently posting here. On the Allure, a huge mega ship, we didn't locate any organized meetings. However last Nov. on the Mariner we had amazingly large gathering each evening. I am also planning a visit with a teacher friend in Palm Springs. Enjoy yourself in every way you can. Best regards. Tom

Home sweet home!! Flight from FLL was @6:45pm. A turbulent flight. Exhausted and could not sleep on plane even after couple cocktails. Didn't even unpack, and hit the sack early last night. Slept late this morning and missed the welcome home reception....oh wait....there wasn't one. Had to make my own coffee this morning, but was better than what was served on Allure...yuk! Must say RCI has a slick system but delays with Customs caused a major pile up getting out of the terminal. In S. Beach it was crowded like Spring break. UGH! Traffic jams due to road construction, but beautiful day. Back at FLL airport early for flight.

At News Cafe for lunch. Wow, SB is a mob scene today. Will peak at beach before we drive back to FLL Airport. Finally off the Allure at 10:30 moved slowly through Customs.

Back in FLL. Gov't shutdown is causing us to be held captive on the Allure. After 10am before we may get on our way. So biding our time in Dazzles with coffee, trying to stay awake. Have rental car for day and if time permits will drive to S. Beach.

Hi Michael. In Cozumel now enjoying margaritas by the water. Nice weather. Another issue came up with RCI, & C&A Society. So much to tell. Met a couple nice guys from CC but the FOD are just not organized as far as we've seen. Hope Explorer is better, but the Mariner spoiled us. Sea day tomorrow then back to FLL, then fly home late Sunday. Not all bad but my expectations were probably too high.

In Falmouth on local wifi. Will be anxious to hear why you are partial to the Allure. We've had one annoying hassle after another on this ship. RCI screwups. My loyalty is beginning to fail. Dec. 2nd may be the last RCI and that makes me sad.

Ok. Got drink, cooled off, attitude now adjusted. Ugh, balcony cabin barely big enough for 2. Might need to upgrade on Explorer if possible. Cabin stewards not yet on duty. Bed not according to request. Will get done eventually. Nice ship but bit chaotic until everyone gets settled. Anxious to sail away. :)

Yes. Very easy reg. & boarding. Ship is sooo hot. No waiter service yet. Haven't yet had a WOW moment. But likely coming if I cool off. I would not do well in hell so better clean up my act. :)

Our friends from Germany are actually 1 German & 1 Brit. The Brit. is a flt. attendant. I'm with just 1 friend on the Allure. My B is dragging this morning, but no rush. I think our CC group has a banner. Better get moving now. Catch you on the return.

Glad you know others on this cruise. We switched to any time dining to better coordinate dining with our German friends. You're welcome to join us any time if you wish. Can't recall our cabin # off hand but will let you know so we can connect onboard. I believe it's on 6 aft, balcony. Detail later. Our friends are doing a b2b beginning our cruise. I would love to do that sometime. My longest was last Nov., 16 days TA from Rome to Galveston, Tx. We live in Houston south metro area.

Yeah I am a night owl. Hope there will be some night life on this sailing.

Love the Allure ( also the Oasis) did both inaugural sailings but for reason I prefer the Allure. Have sailed her 4 times so far

Night owl? Cool. That makes 2 of us. How many others with you on the cruise? There are 5 of us. 2 with me and 2 friends from Germany. Chilling with a cocktail under the stars by the hotel pool right now.

Does that mean you may be up late the night before partying the night away? Or do just like to sleep late on vacation?

We're in Ft Lauderdale now on hotel balcony awaiting arrival of the Allure. We board @ noon tomorrow. Saw the Oasis sail out this evening from a nearby restaurant on the beach.

More after the Allure returns us to the real life. :-)

Hi Jim. Last Nov. 2nd we did the Mariner of the Seas, from Civitaveccia, 16 days thru the Med. & then TA to Galveston on their repositioning cruise. Awesome!! You guys will love the Med.

Jason, have tossed it around to get on FB and/or Tw but have not joined either as yet. Am I correct that CC does not permit pvt. messaging here? I did receive a pvt. but was from CC admin. when I joined. Any other creative option to connect? Tomorrow will be a B of a day but will see if I can look into FB.

Sorry, couldn't get my phone to function in reply mode. Who named these phones "Smart?" Ok, maybe it's just me. Anyway, Blake & I also aren't "regular" gays (again...whatever that means). I'm more into bar scene than Blake, but he doesn't drink. Darn...that means I get stuck drinking for 2. :)) I wanted to check out a few gay clubs. If you want some company Sat. night let me know. Sort of hate posting my email and cell # on a public forum. But you have my name and hotel. Wish this site allowed pvt. messages. Would be great to connect before the cruise.

We don't have beads (yet), but are planning on going to the sail-away party too.

 

You guys flying in the day before the cruise? We're staying at the Hyatt Place 17th street Convention Center.

Hey Jason. NO BEADS??? Shhh....been told you could lose your gay card for that. ;-P We're also at the Hyatt, but Hyatt Pier 66 also on 17th. Not sure if the same location. We're arriving Friday about 1'ish. Weather permitting, we plan to use the Sun Trolley and water taxi in the area and up to Las Olas area. Our return flight is 6:40pm following Sunday. We have a rental car that day and may drive down to South Beach Miami. If convenient let's maybe meet around hotel after you arrive. We're pretty flexible on any plans. Hotel reg. under Odson, Tom in the Hyatt Looking forward to meeting you guys.
