  1. Thanks for the review! Why did you avoid fish in the dining room? I usually order fish for dinner, as I don’t eat chicken or beef. Thanks!

I had the salmon one night it was offered as fish of the day. It was edible but sort of over cooked. I go with the flow and just ate it. That was the only night I had fish. Hubby had the fish and chips and I think he enjoyed it.. I didn't hear anything about it so it must have been good!

  2. Funny, I did not have any internet issues but my friend had the same as you. I have to agree with you about Mike. He was awesome! He really brought energy and life to the cruise. I also really enjoyed this itinerary. Missing Coco Cay broke my record tho. 17 cruises with a private island stop and that was the only miss.

Same here! This cruise broke my perfect record of going to cococay :( but it’s ok! We were able to get to Nassau before it rained all day lol.

  3. I already have Navigator booked in November and I also added Allure for 2019 while I was onboard. FYI, they STILL do reduced deposits onboard but ONLY for non-refundable bookings.

I think inspired my wife who is a waaaay better writer than I. I suspect we may try to do one then. In November, Aruba, Bonaire and Caracao are ports which are new to us.

I’m not quite done here yet. There’s still tomorrow morning, but since its going to be early, I’m pretty much done for the night.

We booked anthem in August 2019 (refundable) while on board. We’re doing the NE/Canada route. Something new for us. You have been on anthem right? We were on allure and while it’s an awesome ship it was waayyy too big for us! We’re hoping Anthem isn’t as bad but if it is we’ll just stick to voyager class ships (so far my favorites!). But I’m loyal to Royal all the way! Enjoy your diamond experience next cruise! Your wife will love unlimited booze in the lounge and 3 free drinks on the card between 4:30 and 8 every night!

  4. Does your wifi keep cutting out on you? Its already slow, but I would lose connection to the router miduse and trying to reconnect is frustrating. The signal strength to the router doesn’t change, just the connection status. Its unpredictable and has never been unstable like this in the past.

I complained to IT and he claimed they’ve gotten no other complaints. I find that suspect, but at least he tried to rectify the issue for me. I don’t think he knows about network connection any more than I do. He said some network settings could do that. When i asked him what settings could kick me off so I could change them, he evaded the answer and offered to refund me.

So far it’s ok, slow as dirt though. Being kicked off when 2 hours are up.

  5. Yes indeed I am... we had a great crowd of regulars in the Schooner on our sailing, we're already discussing reuniting on an upcoming Grandeur cruise, hopefully we can make a NE/Canada 2020 work for everyone, planning that far out.

I cruised with Hansen on Anthem in '16, and we've been in pretty regular contact since, hoping to work a cruise reunion with him and his wife as well.

When I see him tomorrow I’ll let him know it was Justin :) my husband and I are looking to book NE/Canada in may or June 2019 but if that doesn’t work we could move it to 2020 :) we love people who love to cruise.

  6. I was talking about the cancelled excursion(s).

(And apologies for misspelling your name, Vicky. )

I guess I failed to say that when I booked those excursions we used onboard credit given by Royal. We some of it was paid by cc which is going back on our card. So even if it was royal onboard credit from a next cruise booking in July would it be put back on my card?

  7. Its odd. I compared Lyft and Uber in Charleston and Lyft wanted 22 bucks for the trip Uber charged me 12. In Port Canaveral, both wanted 22 to go to Cocoa Beach, but my tablemates for breakfast got charged 13. Maybe Uber is being selective.

In Miami, when I saw 4.00 for the trip, i just went.

South beach was 13 or 14 with uber but about 9-10 with Lyft. We’ll take the cheapest price haha. I always check each company each time I need it. Seattle was the same - Lyft was cheaper than uber.

We chose to do the $10 international pass on AT&T today. I’ll be using the ship’s WiFi tomorrow and Friday. We have a LOT of onboard credit to use since we were canceled in cococay - we were doing a bungalow and jet skis there, and well, now have money to spend on board [emoji849] yay.

  8. I never spent much time at the pool bar, I always saw Elvis in the Schooner Bar on our 4/5/18 sailing. Unless "Elvis" is a common name in India and there is more than one bartender by that name on Grandeur.

He said it was him! He was in the schooner bar for your cruise and most recently (for this sailing) moved to the solarium bar (I said pool bar by accident in my last post) for better hours. Are you Justin? He was rattling off all these names but I don’t know yours to say who is saying hi to him :) he will be taking vacation until August and returning back to here when he comes back from India.

  9. My plan to tour into Little Havana, fell apart. Why? Food coma. After that hefty lunch, I went back to Pasion del Cielo and just plopped back down. I made it back to the ship just now but I may not make dinner. I’m soooo stuffed still.

For those of you visiting Miami as a port of call. The trolley is an excellent option to get around. First tip. If you’re mobile, walk to the previous stop so you can avoid the crowd getting on just next to the port. Some people were turned away because the trolley was full.

Second tip. Although the trolley is free, Uber as of this writing has two economical uber options in Miami. I did not see this offered in Port Canaveral or Charleston. Uber has Express Pool and Pool options. Express pool I believe may have you walk a block or so to meet the express Uber and he doesn’t necessarily drop you at your exact location. Pool which is slightly more expensive will drop you door to door. Both of these options will pick other people up while you’re on the ride if they are going the same direction/vicinity. Costwise, I was able to catch 3 rides out to about 5 miles port and back (my mistake from earlier) for about the same price as 1 trip in Charleston and less than Port Canaveral if i had take an uber to Cocoa beach to wait for my friend. So if you’e willing to spend a little, you. can forgo the trolley for quicker transport.

If you have Lyft, Lyft tends to be cheaper in Miami. We priced the two and Lyft was cheaper, at least for our morning ride. We didn’t price the afternoon ride out with uber. We just automatically did Lyft. We went to south beach. We did the share option and they didn’t even pick anyone else up. It was nice!

  10. Go hang in the Schooner with Mr. H at 9pm... we really enjoyed him on the 4/5 sailing. Say hi to my boys Elvis and Bernie behind the bar if they're still on board, I think Elvis mentioned he might be on vacation after the last sailing.

I’m on this cruise too. I wonder if this is the Same Elvis in the pool bar - from India? If so he’s in the pool bar this week. Unless he does both? But he is awesome! Remembered my husband and I when we went on adventure 2 ish years ago. He was a bar waiter in the main dining room at the time.

  11. Mushroom Soup and Prime rib won’t load. This is frustrating guys.

Also, Mike is an AWESOME CD. Yeah, his stuff is normal CD stuff, but delivery is EVERYTHING. You can just tell he loves his job and it shows. He also said to expect new activities, like Jeopardy or something.

  12. We board on May 28th, but not the same route. We're leaving out of San Juan but we go to St. Martin, Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire.

Looking forward to reading the rest of your review!!!

I can't decide if I want to get internet or not. All I would need it for would be to check my email every once in a while and posting pictures on Facebook :)

So excited for our cruise! May 28th can't come soon enough!

I'm on this sailing too! You could wait until later in the cruise when it might be cheaper!
