Might be getting a bit ahead of ourselves here. First, NO sailing schedule has been announced for Ryndam at all. I would expect as it is being launched in Europe, in May 2021, it will probably do Baltic or Med that summer.

I think Baltic because the Ryndam is scheduled for Le Havre in june 2021 and Amsterdam in september 2021 so most likely going north in june and south in september. Perhaps doing some Med in september/october before going TA.

  2. The post-Prinsendam itinerary for the second half of 2019 is now available with the Rotterdam doing many of the cruises (the "Explorer" cruises) previously done by the Prinsendam. But the Baltic Explorer will not include sailing through the Kiel Canal.

I am excited by Rotterdam's Trans Atlantic repositioning cruise in November, 2019, which includes stops in Barcelona, Casablanca and the Canary Islands (amongst other ports) before reaching Ft. Lauderdale.

The ms Rotterdam will indeed sail from Amsterdam from July till October 2019. The Zuiderdam will take over the Voyage of the Vikings from Rotterdam to Boston in July-August next year.

According to the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam website the ms Zaandam will visit Amsterdam in august 2020. I'm very curious what HAL has in mind for 2020.

  3. Just a small update about the free shuttle.

I was in Marseille last sunday and tuesday. On sunday the free shuttle was running every 20-30 minutes from the port to Joliette. From there it's a 2 minute walk to the metro if you need to go to the main train station or 15 minute walk to the city centre.

Even though the sign at the busstop says the bus runs also on tuesday, we were waiting with about 7 other people for about 40 minutes but the bus never showed up. So we walked 15 minutes to the port entrance where the busstop is located for the city bus. Line 35 will take you in 10-15 minutes to Joliette, the same place where the free shuttle bus stop is. There is a ticketmachine at the port entrance but not at the busstop. The ticket can also be bought from the bus driver for €1,90.

While walking in the direction of the busstop, we asked several people where exactly the stop is or how to get to the city centre. Nobody did know anything so don't expect any help. We found the busstop by ourselves and how to get to the city.

I made a map with the busstops, the red arrow is for the free shuttle bus and the blue arrow is where bus 35 stops.

I hope it helps a little bit.

  4. Just spotted Prinsendam's are up.

Perhaps a little bit off topic but it looks like the Prinsendam is coming back to Amsterdam in 2017 instead of IJmuiden. Is is also confirmed on the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam. Amsterdam will see three HAL ships in 2017. The Zuiderdam will make just one call but the Prinsendam and Koningsdam will sail all summer.

I think it's a good move to skip IJmuiden and go to Amsterdam instead.

  5. Arrived in Marseille last sunday and used the free Shuttle bus. It runs every 30 minutes. At the bus stop is a sign with "cruise shuttle" on it.

Because there were 3 ships in port (Costa Diadema, Horizon and MSC Armonia), the waiting line for the bus was quite long and sometimes you have to wait for the next run 30 minutes later.

The bus stops near Place Joliette. From here it's about 15 minutes walk to the city centre. If you have to go to Gare Saint-Charles train station, you can take the subway M2 from Place Joliette, which is to the left of the bus stop. It's only two stops and costs 1,60 euro per person.
