  1. We brought two 12pks on with us in April and it was so easy. We got a small suitcase with wheels and two fit perfect in there, we just told them at security what it was and they checked the cans...did not open the package though... and we were on our way. We saved a TON, and the fridge kept them really cold. What we had left over we told the room Steward he could have.

  2. On John Healds recent video on his Facebook, he said that the pastries on cake stands on top of the counter at the coffee bar are free..I believe he said only in the mornings. I seen croissants, some sort of fruit filled danish and cinnamon rolls.

    hope this helps

  3. It's what you really want. Yes Deck 9 is close to the Lido deck. But Deck 2 is close to the theater, dining rooms, Oceans Plaza, and Deck 0. Deck 0 is where you get off and on the ship when in ports. It is nice not to have to wait for an elevator when everyone else is wanting to use it to, when getting back on in port, going to dinner, after a show, etc.

We had a cove balcony on the Breeze and never found it a problem to catch an elevator up to the Lido deck. Just be sure you don't get one under the Galley (can be noisy). The galley is between the aft and mid ship elevators. So forward of the mid ship elevators and you should be all right. We were in Cabin 2294 and heard it was pretty quiet.

Hey Im staying in 2294 in 46 days, but on the Dream..

  4. Our Citi card offers a great deal on Carnival gift cards, if we purchase them in $100 increments and want to use them as OBC do we have to go to guest services to load them to our S&S card or can we use a kiosk? Do they work just like cash, like if we dont use all of what we put on our S&S will we recieve a refund or will it be credited back to the gift card?

Sorry so many questions about it but DH wants to go this route and Im just curious as to how all that really works.

    Thanks in advance.

  5. OP we tried the Steakhouse on the Dream and I didnt particularly care for it and neither did my husband. But it wasnt the food, it was pretty good and it was a nice change of pace, however we are not what you call dressy people...it kinda made us feel uncomfortable. But thats just us, not a reflection of the service or the food in any way. I certainly wouldnt tell you to not try the steakhouse. Its definitely a different experience than the MDR.

  6. I've had 2275 and 2294 with no noise problems. I have 2289 booked for the future.

Thankful for this post...we booked 2294 for April 2016 and I was beginning to freak out about all this noise talk. I was booked once under the galley on the Elation and OMG it was awful..the bowling alley part was true...I got no sleep for two nights. Then they moved me to a different room.

Hopefully I will be as lucky as you!

  7. I leave in a couple weeks for my last relaxing trip before the holiday season (I work in retail and it is a busy, super stressful time). So I have decided that instead of plunking wads of cash into the casino this trip, I would spend my money on the Cloud 9 Thermal Spa pass (week-long). I've never done this, but I have done a lot of dreaming and scheming over you-tube videos and pics and know I will love it! Can anyone give me any hints as to

    a) how soon to get there to buy the pass and

    b) the perfect "zen" order to use the different rooms.

And any current pricing would also be helpful!

We got one last time. They sell out fast so it was our second stop after grabbing a quick lunch on lido.

We honestly would not do it again. The thermal pool was the best part of the whole thing. Very relaxing, but still I didnt feel like it was still worth the cash. We cruise again in April and we wont be getting it.

  8. We decided this cruise to order the large bottles of water that are normally $5 a bottle already in your room.... we got 4 of the large ones for $12...which isnt really that cheap on land but at sea its wayyy better then $5 a bottle.

  9. We brought 'em on our last cruise. Ended up leaving them in our cabins instead. It theory it's convenient. In practice, it's an inconvenience that you end up lugging around all day and not actually using.

Maybe my family was different, but we generally would start the day and say "Okay, I'm gonna go do blah blah blah probably... see you guys at lunch?" and that was enough communication for us. We'd see each other around the ship often enough.

    Thanks Ryan :)

  10. They don't work all over the large ships of today. They are obnoxious to fellow passengers. They are obnoxious to those that have them as you may have several different groups all using the same channel. Oh, and they are obnoxious to fellow passengers.

The majority of cruisers manage to survive without them just fine...

Ive survived just fine without any thus far, just wondering what kind of success people have had with them.

  11. We took them and ended up not using them. Not only did they annoy the people around us, we could never find a channel kids weren't playing on, which annoyed us! :)

We use sticky notes on the door or a sticky note in the mail box. We write POOL (or wherever we are going) or "Meet in the lobby at 5:30" then stick it up on the door. People can easily find us then!

Good Idea! I also heard you can use a dry erase maker on the mirror.

  12. We took walkie-talkies on the Paradise. They worked pretty well except when our boys "forgot" to charge them. We'll take them again. (We might take the boys too ;) )

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

Could I ask what kind of walkie talkies you brought? Ive heard that some dont work.

  13. :DWe are just back off the Sensation on Feb. 6th and I already arranged an all girls cruise on the Elation for November 10th. Any information about the boat and hotels in the area with cruise and park would be extremely helpful...thanks.:)

Make sure you are not under the galley..its the worst rooms ever.

  14. We loved the aft wrap (7459). I had read people could look down on you. If they looked down, they would see my feet. The advantage of the wrap is you get to have shade on the side during the middle of the day. In the morning and at night, we always just sat and watch the ocean. The room has 3 good sized closets, a desk with drawers, a stool, a chair and coffee table, a refrigerator cabinet with the safe on top. The room is very quiet. Our friends had the two aft extended cabins next to the wrap. We open the dividers and had a huge deck. The cabin right next to the wrap does not have a sofa. The second one over does. They both loved their cabins.

I have always been curious in the Aft balcony can you hear the thrusters of the ship when coming into port? Ive only stayed aft one time in an OV room on deck 8 and I could hear those thrusters loud and clear. Id hate to pay extra for the aft balcony and have that same problem. Thanks

  15. [COLOR=Purple][SIZE=3]Last October we booked Aug 31 on the Dream. When we booked the sale was $433pp with $200 obc. I have not seen any other sales since then with any obc close to that.... is that something they only offer once a year or how often have you all seen it offered? Trying to plan for the next cruise and I'd love some obc for that cruise too.

    Thanks in advance.

  16. OP

I was in E163 and my sister was in E167. THESE ROOMS IN THIS PART OF THE SHIP ARE UNDER THE GALLEY. THEY ARE LOUD, WITH A CAPITAL LOUD! It sounded like a bowling alley above our heads all night long... I got no sleep. they eventually moved me to E245 which was right below the dining room and it was loud as well during dining times and it was aft and when those thrusters were on it was DEFINITELY a wake up call.

I would sincerely reconsider these rooms unless you sleep like a rock.

  17. I used cruise cash my last cruise and I was a little nervous that it wouldnt be there when I got on board. When I got to my room there were papers stating how much I had applied. I prepaid my gratuities this way... but if you dont use it you lose it...no refunds.

  18. Anyone sail Alaska this past season from Seattle? Do you remember what time you were able to board? Reason I ask is that DH and I, and my sister and BIL have suites, which would entitle us to early boarding, but my son and DIL are also coming, not in a suite. Thought if we get there at the "right" time, my son wouldnt have to wait too long, as I wil likely wait with them, since its their first cruise.. we sail at 4pm.. hotel has us on an 11 AM shuttle, but that can be changed. thanks!

You are always able to start boarding the ship as soon as it clears customs from the previous trip. We usually arrive, mind you in New Orleans or Jacksonville, about 10am and we are typically in our rooms by 11:15am.

  19. We are going on the Miracle in March. We are staying at the hotel Maya. What shuttle time should we pick when we get to hotel? I think the shuttle leaves every half hour and we need to sign up the night before.

Ive never been on the Miracle...however, boarding starts as soon as the ship clears customs. I usually board in New Orleans with FTTF and we get there between 10-10:30am and we are in our room by 11:15am.The earlier you get there the earlier your vacation starts.

    :)

  20. When we were on the Breeze this past November I had forgotten my razor, I called our room steward to see if he had any, since honestly on our past 3 cruises razors had been a staple "freebee". Turns out these are all "freebees" given to Carnival to promote items and they will vary with time. He was very apologetic as he explained this to me and said maybe check the fun shops. I did this once they opened only to find the BIC disposable razors they normally sell were sold out (guess I wasn't the only one, lol). My next step was to make this a priority at our first port.

Long story short, once we got back to our room that second night, first sea day, there was a wonderful package of disposal BIC razors on the bed! This was the perfect example of the excellent customer service Carnival provides, I made sure that not only was he well tipped but sent a letter to Carnival customer service with his and his team to ensure they knew what a wonderful team they had!

Great to hear! thanks for posting!
