Yes, just received our cancellation email last night 😞  It was for my son's high school graduation.  Looks like maybe we will try to plan for next year.

I am biased, born and raised in Sitka!  Totem Park is just the best.

We were just informed the Westerdam is on their way to Hawaii and will be in Juneau on March 17th to wait for the summer season.  I am trying to confirm this.

You will have a high likelihood (almost 100%) of seeing good whale viewings day or evening.  Many times, we have gone in the afternoon and seen breaching and bubble net feeding.  You will have a great time!!

Yes, Allen Marine cats are wonderful.  I would definitely not go out of Sitka if that is a port of call for you.  It is much more open to the larger open waters and you feel more of the swell which can really make you sick.  Juneau waters are more protected.  I get motion sickness very easy and having lived in both Sitka and Juneau, this is my opinion.

We felt it here in Juneau quite a bit.  Heard from someone anchored out from Shelter Island that they did feel it on their small boat.

Thank you Chocolatelabs.  How wonderful that you are a therapy dog handler.  I applaud all of the work that goes into that.  I had no idea until I got Maggie and we are just starting 🙂 Hope to see you in Juneau again in the future.  We love it here and are glad to hear when others do too!

That is an excellent idea. I will go out and look for those tonight. I have heard several people tell their kids they can't pet her because she is a service dog. Maggie adores children!

Milwaukee Eight:  Not a service dog but hoping to get her qualified to visit nursing homes and other facilities.

Thank you to all of the Ovation of the Seas passengers visiting Juneau that have helped socialize my golden Maggie.  This ship always has the best people, so friendly and upbeat.  We try to meet it every Sunday and have thoroughly enjoyed conversations with passengers and crew.  I look forward to cruising with you all someday.  🙂

You could visit the State Museum which reopened a couple years back and is really nice. The Tram is always enjoyable and you can get a little hiking in too. There is a new Whale Sculpture and fountain down near the Douglas Bridge if you are up for a little walk. Really neat to see the life size perspective out of the water of a humpback whale. Of course there is shopping if that appeals to you. There is a walking tour of Juneau also but I have not done it personally. Walking by the Capitol Building and then the Governor's Mansion are nice to see as well.

Son was just down there today and was able to get to the face of Sawyer. A good amount of calving during the trip. Saw bears and an Orca in the fjord.

Tracy Arm is amazing! It is like stepping back in time with the high cliff walls and the bergs in the water. We have seen bears and wolves on the shores when we have been with the smaller boat cruises. Seals with pups on the ice and even an orca in the fjord. Just spectacular.

Down 3 this week. 75 miles on my bike and stayed within my calorie limits. Really trying to plan for this weekend so I am setup for success instead of just grabbing whatever is handy.

I am up 1/2 lb this week but I will own it as I ate pretty badly. Back on track now :)

I am down 3.5 lbs this week. Very strict again on watching my calories and 88 miles on my bike. Feeling pretty good. Only 37 days till we cruise!
