  1. I am bringing my Grandson on a cruise soon and I am required to bring a notarized letter signed by one of his parents saying I was authorized to take him and that I could make medical decisions. And, in the past we were never asked for this letter, but I am not taking any chances. If I only need a letter signed by one parent it would not make sense for you to need a letter.

  2. This happened to us on the Jan 25 sailing on Celebrity Silhouette. Except they were more specific. They made one ship-wide announcement asking for O positive. They wanted only young male donors with current donor cards. No further anniuncements were ever made

I was on that cruise but did not hear that announcement. That is my blood type.

  3. Did you check with the credit card company you used to pay for the cruise? Most Visa/Mastercards have trip delay/cancellation policys iincluded for free. Maybe you can get refunded for the portion you lost. After reading documentation from my new Visa last week I was wondering if I should even buy insurance for my next cruise.

  4. Sudden Cancellation

Celebrity Cruises has canceled its January 4, 2015 Eastern Caribbean sailing of Celebrity Silhouette so the vessel can go into dry dock for maintenance, Cruise Critic members report. Passengers were given a full refund of their cruise fare, or offered a chance to rebook on Celebrity Reflection and other Silhouette sailings, along with $200 or $400 onboard credit, depending on cabin category. In addition, Celebrity is paying $200 to reimburse for flights ($300 for international air).

  6. I have probably seen all the things discussed here, except maybe dumping a plate of potatos back into the bufet. :)

That said, the budding in line is probably the one that makes me mad. Just the thought that some people assume their time is more important than the other people in line. And when I say something many of them get mad at me for pointing out they are budding in line. The lines are ussually only a few minute wait, but it happens at least once per meal.

  7. Maybe someone can help, since Celebrity has no idea how to fix my problem. I can log into the sight just fine but I can not open my reservation to look at dining options, spa reservations, or anything else. I get this message. The requested reservation is currently being modified. Please try again in 20 minutes. They assured me no one from Celebrity is in my reservation, which has been locked for about 3 weeks. She asked as if I did something to make this happen. If I did the website is not very user friendly!

  8. I get car sick, can't go on any rides, get sick on smaller boats, get sick on the simulated rides at amusement parks. But I never get sea sick on cruise ships. I don't take any medication at all. Once it was really rough the first night out, before getting sea legs, and I felt it slightly. Normally you don't even know you are on a ship.

  9. I booked a cruise with a couple weeks ago with the 123 promotion. I did question the Celebrity agent about if the price was higher because of the promotion. She said I could call her back if the price went down before final payment and she would adjust my rate. She said the only discount that I could not use (and keep my drink package) would be something like a special fo military rate or some other special not available to everyone. She said I could take advantage of any other proce drops and still keep my drink package.

  10. I was on the Epic in February, and overall it was fun, as all cruises are. The ship was very nice. But we had less than good service in the free restaurants, and the food was just average. One morning we waited an hour for our breakfast to be served and no one even said they were sorry. I am not one of the people that expects perfection, and thought it was silly for people to complain about a cruise.

When we used to cruise, before the pay restaurants and auto tips started, the food and service was great on every ship. I still expect the same service as 15 years ago but those days are gone unless you want to pay for a meal that used to be include.

I know everyone on this site loves NCL, but every person in our group of 12 said they would never cruise with NCL again! It was our fist and last time on NCL.

  11. I have been on Princess, which was actually my favorite, but they are expensive and offer limited itineraries. Carnival was Ok considering the price. Royal Carribean's new ships are great, but expensiive. I was on Norwegian Epic last month, and we enjoyed the cruise, but would not go back to Nowegian. Service was bad, and buffet food was just OK. I did pay a little more for my next cruiise, which is on the Sillouette, but factering in the free drink package, it is about the same price as Carnival for the same itinerary. And I get to drink for free!

In my opinion NDR meals went down hill on all ships when the pay restaurants were introduced. 20 years ago the MDR meals were like the pay restaurants of today.

And, when "tips" were added onto bills instead of tipping for quality of service, service on cruises is not like it used to be.

I have never been on any cruise or cruiseship that I did not enjoy, as long as I do not expect service to be the same as 20 years ago. You can not go wrong on any cruise, but like someone said on an earlier post, you get what you pay for!
