  1. I will be on a RC cruise in May that sails from Barcelona to Ravenna with many stops in between. I thought I was done planning, but then I thankfully came across an informative post about transportation in Messina. I was hoping that day would be an easy relaxing walk about town from the ship. But it seems I will be planning yet another excursion of some type. The ship transfer from Taormino and back is $60(on sale) - $80. So why not get a little more for the cost of my transfer. So having not researched this port as indepth as other and suffering from planning burn out. What are your favorite low key favorite things to do at this port? We are not looking to fill the whole day with busy, but we are in port for 10 hours.

Thanks again for the posts that helped me see the error of my "non"plans for this port

  2. I am traveling to Alaska on the Ovation of the Seas the end of July. It is our first time on this ship and itinerary. A week ago I reserved the only time available for the show  which coincides with our dining plans. I have tried to cancel and reschedule another time, but my options remain the same. Does anyone know if show reservation slots open up once we are on ship?

    Thanks

  3. Full disclosure: I have only had mt nails done professionally less than 5 times in my life, but want them done for an upcoming family wedding. I have a short 4 night cruise out of Miami. When I disembark I am flying out to the wedding in California.

I have a local appointment 2 days before I cruise, for a mani-pedi which including tip will be $105. Past spa users, should I consider getting one on board? Are they long lasting at a similar price point?

This has happened to many people lately.  Log into your account online. At the top, you'll see your initials.  Click them and select Profile -- then on the right, select My Loyalty.  You should then see your Crown and Anchor number.  Write it down or otherwise know what it is (LOL!), and then delete it from that box so the box is empty.  Then, re-enter it and choose "SAVE" at the bottom.  This should force the system to update your C&A and your points hopefully will then appear.

Disclaimer:  I found this solution on another thread in here a few weeks ago, and it worked for me.  🙂

This worked for us!! Thank you!

  5. Thank you. I have been doing my research and see the variety of temperatures. Packing various layers, but no parkas. Planning for high 40s to high 60s. I have also been made aware of the rain so taking a small portable umbrella and a rain jacket that folds very small. As for dress your best not planning on anything super formal. Dressing up can be a fun date night on ship for my husband and I, but we like to go with the vibe of the ship and culture.  Thanks!

  6. We are excited for our first cruise to Alaska after multiple cancellations and postponements since 2019 (both personal and cruise line). We will be on Ovation at the end of July. Excursions are planned. Now onto what to wear. We will be layering for the large possibilities of temperatures. I still need to get a rain jacket. Is there a formal night on the 7 night Alakan trip? Preparing a little each month is a great stress reducer.

Thanks for the formal night info and any other advice you can give 3 Ohioins.

  7. Thanks. I am used to passing showers and the captain steering around the weather on longer cruises. Currently they are calling for a quarter inch of rain each day, but it is still a week away, so I am hoping it will change. I was just wondering if there are any specific gems I should check out or do on the Freedom. I have cruised many times, but bringing a first time cruiser and want to be prepared to show her fun and sun on the sea, but without sun we will need even more FUN!!

We will have fun no matter what!! She just really needs a real world break and a brain break and I am a planner:)

  8.

I know the weather can change, but it is calling for a high percentage of rain for our upcoming short cruise on the Freedom of the Seas. I was planning on spending the majority of my days during the  week pool and beach side.  I have never been on the Freedom (or Coco Cay).

Other than the casino, how do people like to spend a rainy day on the Freedom?

  9. Looking at the description on amazon, it says it is cruise friendly, but I am not certain I believe it.

Thinking  I may just be leaving this behind this trip.  No worries, more room in my suitcase for other non essentials that I really don't need to take.

    Thanks for your help.

  10. Here is a bizarre question.

I keep reading the limited amount of outlets in the room and the suggestion of bringing something to increase the usage such as mini- power strips.  Not sure if this is allowed.  But if it is, I have a cube power box with multiple usb slots that can help power our muliple phones and tablets without taking up a lot of outlet space. It does require a USA 3 prong plug.

Are the room outlets 2 or 3 prong outlets?

Also does anyone bring their own hair dryer, or just use what is available on the ship?

I really don't want to embarrass myself by blowing any room circuits by drawing too much power💥

FYI - Sailing on the Allure, if that matters.

  11. It is our first time on this class and we purchased the 3 restaurant plan to try a couple of places out. Though we have always been happy with the MDR.  Figured it was a happy medium.  We have only ever been to Chops.  We are excited  to try a few new places.  We have 5 days until we board and we still can't make up our mind.  A good problem to have 😊

I've come to regard the mask as being "normal" now. I wear it 8hrs a day at work, and then I'll often have 3-4hrs of errands and wear it for those as well.  Today I actually forgot to take it off when I got home and realized it about 20min later.

I've managed to evade Covid so far, although more than half of my workplace has had it. But I can also say that I haven't had as much as a cold in the last 2 years and my allergies have also been way better, which is a first for me in about 30 years. So honestly I'm kinda liking the masks. My cousin makes mine, they're really comfortable and I pick out the fabrics so I'm getting exactly what I want. I just consider them an accessory now.

Plus I can mouth insults to people and they have no idea 🙂

I am in total agreement.  Sounds like we have very similar circumstances.

  13. Following.

I have been trying to figure out what to do in Nassau this time around.  Thanks for the ideas.  I am thinking we only due a few site seeing stops and skip the beach on this stop.  Does anyone have a good/safe walking plan to see the Queen's staircase and the John Waltings Distillery?  Or is there any other recommended highlights to take in by foot or a short taxi ride?

  14. Thanks everyone. Finally have had sometime to do some research. We have a tentative plan for St. Thomas - going to Trunk Bay as long as we get off the ship early. I am still looking into St. Martin and the other the ports and hoping to have a list of ideas this weekend. Not planning on doing any group excursions at this point.

  15. We are finally headed back to the Seas after 4 cancelled cruises beginning with my 50th Birthday cruise in 2020.  We will head out on the Allure of the Seas on February 19th!!  After so many disappointments, I could not wrap my mind around the cruise actually moving forward until now - 26 days before we leave.  So my cruise planning is WAY behind schedule.  A question about excursions.  We have always booked privately, but have decided if we book an excursion it will be through Royal.  Any tips?  We would be interested in one of the snorkel beach excursion, but are wondering how to find out about the confined travel time to get to the excursion.  Anyone have a fabulous experience at either St. Thomas or St.Marteen on the snorkel excursions?  We were going to wait until we were onboard to decide, but I see on the site that excursions are selling out.  So I am wondering if I need to jump on it soon.  Also, I was hoping to take my first visit to the spa for a massage, does anyone know if they are up and running? Nothing shows on the app. Any tips?  After many discussions (just like everyone else has been having), we have decided to move forward with the cruise and are ok with whatever is or is not available.  Just trying to plan incase things are open so we have reservations.  I am out of practice.  This is my first cruise since 2013. YIKES!! That is way too long!!
