  1. I read a tip somewhere (maybe on a FB page) where the person had taken screenshots rather than photos of the EU Covid cert to upload and it worked. I did this on Sunday, and lo and behold, yesterday I saw it had been validated - my husband also did it successfully by this method.

Heading on the Edge in 10 days time out of civitevecchia. Just got an email from celebrity saying as ‘up to date’ vaccinated, we need to provide antigen tests taken within 2 days before our cruise. We are travelling from Ireland so within the EU (if this makes any difference?). Issue is we are landing into Rome 3 days before the cruise; does this mean we have to go find somewhere in Rome to do an antigen test? Seems unvaccinated or out of date can simply do the test at the port.

We are also travelling from Ireland, to sail on 4th June. We are going to Civitavecchia on the 3rd and plan to have an antigen test in a local pharmacy.

  3. There are loads of taxis at the cruise terminal. Be warned that Southampton is not a very nice airport, it is very small with nowhere decent to sit and poor food options available. Also some of the staff are real “jobs worth’s”, especially about carry on bags - trust me, we have experience 🙄

  4. We were also on the QV Baltic cruise on 14th July and were very impressed with Neil Kelly. We thought he was warm and friendly, often saw him around the ship, and he always had time to stop for a chat. He was brilliant doing Zumba, so funny (we only watched 😉) and we thought he was the best entertainment director we have met so far.

  5. Windsurfboy, we are on V918 and we will follow our normal routine of checking out of our hotel with a taxi booked for midday and straight to the terminal. So far, we have been fairly lucky, not had to wait too long to board. By the way, there is a Roll Call going for this cruise, maybe you would like to pop over and say hello.

  6. I got all excited for a moment yesterday - I got an email from the travel agent yesterday saying passengers could now retrieve their travel documents using the VP,  giving the link and reminding me of our Cunard booking reference. Even though in the back of my mind I “knew” it was a standard email, for a little while I felt optimistic. Of course, we still have not been assigned our cabin.

  7. It seems to me that this comes down to you not emphasising your needs to your TA, or he/she not passing them on to Cunard. A lot of it could have been avoided if there had been better communication. As someone who travels in the “cheap seats” on Cunard I have never been made to feel any less for not paying huge money. Also, I have always noted how kind the staff are to people with mobility issues. How hard would it have been to pre order a shower stool or let them know about your wheelchair?

  8. This thread is very useful. We are booked on QV from 14th July, we had booked an ocean view but after a short trip on QM2 last month in an obstructed view balcony, when we got home we upgraded to similar for the July cruise. At that stage we were told it would be a guaranteed cabin, so I have been checking regularly to see if it has been allocated. I’ll enter all our details this week although I have no idea if they have a system for allocating i.e. World Club status, order in which you booked etc.

DW worries about seasickness but she wears Sea Bands on her wrists and claims they do a great job.

Sea Bands really work, when onboard I keep them in the bedside drawer as the very rare occasion when I have felt queasy, it has always been at night. They are also useful to have with you if you are doing excursions which involve a lot of coach travel. I don’t like taking medication of any sort, and find the Sea Bands invaluable.

  10. The lunch you get on the Norway in a Nutshell is really excellent and very well organised. Our day in Flam was the only really nice day we had weather-wise, which was a bonus, and the excursion is a good way to see a little bit more of Norway.

  11. We were on the 10.30 Norway in a Nutshell excursion in Flam on 21st June and yes, arrived back to the ship very close to sailing time. It was a very enjoyable day, although long. However, if we were to go to Flam again, we would probably stay around Flam as it is a pretty place with plenty of nice walking in the area.

  12. It was definitely wet, windy and very COLD this week, for those of us on QM2, but nevertheless a fabulous time as always.

It certainly was, but we had a really lovely time - our first Cunard cruise but not our last, we are now ruined for any other cruise line. Already, we are looking at the same cruise next year - after all, we have not been to Alesund as we were unable to get in there last week, and we did a full day trip in Flaam so didn't get a chance to spend time in Flaam itself.

  13. We have just returned from our first Cunard cruise, on the QM2 to the Norwegian fjords - we LOVED it. Our previous cruises were with RCCL but we shall not be returning to them. It has a class and ambience that we thoroughly enjoyed, I hope you have a wonderful time.

  14. Thank you for all your replies. Today we decided to do the Norway in a Nutshell excursion and have booked it. We enjoy train travel, and this involves another train journey from Flam to Voss, then back by coach. We have spoken to someone who has done it and they really enjoyed it.

  15. Shuffleboard Dude, the problem is that we are not in Flam for very long, and people on the cruise tours take precedence on the train, so by the time we would get to the head of the queue, we would probably not have time for the trip. Those on ship excursions are guaranteed to be back on the ship by sailing time, although normally we would organise such trips on our own.

  16. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we were too late to book the train excursion in Flam on our upcoming QM2 cruise to the Norwegian fjords and we are now on a waiting list for the excursion. Does anyone have experience of being on a waiting list, have you usually managed to get on the trip in the end?
