  1. It was nice to have a ship map, even one that was very slow and check ship time without moving from bed but the schedule was incomplete and lacked so much of the information I actually wanted to know. I could never get my account to show appropriately and couldn’t make reservations.

  2. Actually I'm going to wrap it up right now since this thread has devolved into arguments and martyrs.

Thanks everyone who enjoyed the review and I hope everyone who sails her after enjoys her as much as I did. Except without the pain.

Thanks so much for the review! This and the other live threads have been really informative.

  3. I don't understand why you would send children to school with a cold? If you know they have a cold, it's best for everyone to stay home to minimise the spread. Obviously they've probably already been contagious, but let them have a rest. I love the idea of perfect attendance, but the fact is that there are times when it is appropriate for children to stay away from school. However, wherever possible, it should not be for inappropriate reasons.

Kids get colds, it’s going to happen. A mild cold isn’t really the big problem in sending sick kids. It’s parents who ignore fevers or vomiting since those are signs of much worse.

  4. Paranoia is understandable! I am too and have copies of important documents at home and I’ll be traveling with a set of the copies just in case. Trip it lets you save the information into the app under a separate secure password so that would be an extra level of security as well.

  5. Maybe it’s different with an only child (my oldest was in first grade when #4 and #5 were born), but all of my kids missed several days of school every year when they were little due to illness, and I sent them to school with colds. I really resented parents who sent their kids to school with stomach bugs and fevers (actually outed a girl who vomited in the bushes on the kindergarten line). I dislike perfect attendance awards.

Even when only one of my twins was in school, viruses abounded. He’s been out a little under 2 weeks a year for two years now. Regular attendance matters but there’s only so much that can be helped. I really hope next year is better.

  6. True story

Me: I might have figured out what purse I want for Alaska, this woman Sue has it. And it looks really good and I’m going to see if she likes it.

Friend who doesn’t frequent message boards of any kind : Sue who?

Me: Um, well shes engaged to Doug...

Friend : how do you know Doug?

    Me: I don’t know him, but ...

    Friend: so you know Sue

Me: Not at all. But see Doug has this really great thread going on the CC Message board about the ship I’m going on to Alaska and posted pictures of Sue with this bag that looks really good so...If she likes it.

Friend : so you are going to ask this person you don’t know a question for his fiancée who you also don’t know about this purse and you think he will ask her and she’ll tell him and he’ll tell you?

    Me: Umm maybe.

Friend: Why would these people you don’t know want to answer a question from some random person? Why would you bother them on vacation? You know this makes you seem crazy, right?

    Me: yeah.

No crazier than listening to reviews from people whose tastes are totally unknown, are not using it for your exact purpose and are not available to model it for reference. It’s definitely a message board thing though. I’ve looked up that bag as well so thanks to you and Sue! I hadn’t noticed it without your questions.

  7. It's a family lifestyle blog. Travel is a big part of my blog.

It's called My Family Stuff. :)

Thanks, I’ve saved that. Your opinion on family friendly parts of the ship and schedule would be really great as well. So much of what’s been covered has been from an adult perspective. We’ll be with small kids so your thoughts from a parental perspective (even without your kids actually present) would be invaluable.

  8. So onto Havana

With brand new musical acts it’s hard to predict how a show will run versus a broadway show.

I’d say the acting, the set and vocals were great. The storyline was a bit slow to start but soon sped up and the second half of the show had more upbeat tempo tracks and choreography.

Running time is 1hr 15mins. Couple of minor use of swear words but nothing bad for younger audiences.

What a gorgeous set! I’d like to see that so good to know it might be ok for my kids.

  9. i know its early, but any word yet on the features? as in laser tag, gokarts, water park, etc? i'm getting ready to book the kids and i our christmas cruise 2019. was going to do the bliss until i realized the encore will be in miami by then so i'm glad i waited to book! i'm assuming the encore will have just as much or more stuff for teens than the bliss, correct?

Look back through this thread and the deck plans on the ncl site. There’s ton of pictures now that paying passengers are on. YouTube has several ship tours, including a 360 one I was trying with my vr goggles.

  10. Is there a sports court? golf net?

Maps have been missing these elements. No basketball court is bad news for kids/teens/families. You cannot do waterslides all day. I'll budget for the race track and laser tag, but sports court is great for "free" activities.

There is not (which I only just realized a couple days ago myself). From pictures and video, the kids club looks pretty nice though. I was hoping for a good open spot like the basketball court as well since I have a very active kid.
