Peter - does Carnival have a service charge for charging your slot account to your room? I was recently on an NCL cruise and they had a 3% service charge for charging your slot play to your room account

Hi all!  I will be cruising solo and also cruising for the very first time on the MSC Meraviglia January 15, 2024 to the Western Carribean.  I have a studio aft balcony cabin 14256.  I was wondering if anyone has any information about this class of cabin and how they liked it.  I'm very excited about the cruise even though many cruisers complain about MSC food and the quality of the line in general. I have a 3 meal dining experience and the Thermal Spa booked.  So, I hope to make the best of it.  Also, on the MSC website it states that Bella and Fantastica guests can buy passes to the Aurea Top 19 Exclusive Solarium on a space available basis.  Has anyone had any experience with this and how much the daily pass costs?  That information is not listed on the website.

The food on MSC is not bad at all. You'll even have a surf and turf dinner. There is lots of variety for lunch --- it is other things about the line that i would comment on, not their food.  Hope you enjoy your cruise!

I am cruising solo on Enchanted Princess on Nov. 12, a b2b transatlantic, all the way to Florida. I have cruised solo a few times before and love it.

  3. I was having the same issue with the website.  After many tries, i called them. First the man told me to do what i had been doing, then i waited while he checked, and he told me to get on incognito, and how to do this. Now, this is how i have to use the website.

I understand others frustration, because it was me too.

Wow that's terrible that you were never notified.  Lucky that you found out on your own.

Your new fall schedule now sounds busy but amazing!  I am looking forward to this cruise (9/8) as I am hoping that Carnival will have figured out the embarkation / debarkation logistics and that the ship will be a bit less crowded then my 6/27 Venezia  cruise.  😁

It is a crazy fall schedule!  but how can i complain?  I am writing a letter to carnival, probably email too. I have nothing to lose.  They kept my money for 3 years, didnt notify me, enticed me with a large on board credit, and then i learned i had to book something and sail by sept 30 !!  It turns out that some of my family is on this cruise also.  I am curious to see the Venezia.

No, you do not.  Just go to rewards on the website and search for princess.

You do need to register, but at this time you don’t have to buy a membership.

Thanks so much. I got confused......carnival, Celebrity and Royal - you need to be a member; Princess and Holland, no.  It gets so complicated. You used to be able to get them all w/o being a member. I am on the site now.  I appreciate the info!

I have a credit card where i can get free gift cards, for redeeming my points, and got a free $100 Princess one. Can't do that much tho, because I'd have to wrack up zillions of points to get a whole cruise like that.

We had a similar experience.  Hadn't traveled since the pandemic.  When on board, couldn't find where we picked up our gift, coupon for the sea day brunch drink, etc.  My husband had been given a white card instead of his Platinum one which was strange.  It said Milestone Cruise but nothing stating what it was. I had to search for the Milestone information after we returned.  Found we were entitled to a discount on the next cruise.  It was a hassle to check in for dinner on My Time Dining.  Sometimes we didn't get notified of a table for over an hour or so.  I guess we are set in our "old" way of doing things,

Do you mean to tell me i have to "check in" for dinner? How do i do this?  and i have no smart phone. I don't get why people want to look at little screens ALL DAY......  will be on Venezia in Sept.

Its been announced for almost 2 years how to get your platinum perks.  Not sure how you missed it.

I havent been reading cruise critic for the past 2 years.....and it takes hours to do so, even if I like it. It's very easy to miss it.  And, i don't go to their website if I am not booked. Carnival never emails me anything. I needed to know when the $400 obc would be over, when I let them hold my money from a canceled cruise.  Never was told anything, and totally annoyed over this.

Why can't they leave the perks, or most of them, in our cabins?

Got me... I still print concert tickets, airline tickets, etc. even though I could just use my smartphone.

Hate smartphones and don't want one.  They seem to be a new body part for most people, and when they are misplaced.....there is like, panic.  No thanks. I'll be old fashioned for as long as i can. There are other benefits to just having a plain old cell phone that i won't get into here.

  9. I have been on over 40 cruises, 4 being transatlantic.  I figure i have gotten seasick about 10% of the time. Not too bad.  But i DO get inside cabins. I am a real stickler about being midship. I will even count the cabins on a deck to see where exact mid is! (not necessary). If you get an inside, there is always the prominade deck, which is usually on a lower floor. All the fresh air you want. Looking at the horizon and breathing in deep, fresh ocean air helps a lot.  Of course the sea conditions are the main thing, and there is no predicting that.

I am glad she wants to try cruising.  She may find it opens a whole new world for her. Didnt take my first til i was about 48, and then got hooked, even with some sea sickness. The cures mentioned really help. Best wishes!

They were all at the buffet.   MSC doesn't have anything similar to Guy's Burgers, Shaq's Big Chicken, Pizza Pirate, The Deli, or Java Blue Cafe take out and if you want Mexican, you need to pay for it either as all you can eat for 17.99 or a la carte.  A burrito was 10.79.  At Blue Iguana Cantina, they are included and free.

Adore Blue Iguana Cantina and think of it when i am off a carnival ship......burritos made exactly how you want them!  Enjoyed Blue Iguana so much.

  11. Greetings Cruisers!

I just about HAD to book this......after paying for a long transatlantic on Princess which i will take in November, I checked with Carnival about my credit from a pandemic cancelation today.... Got NO emails that i had to book and SAIL by the end of September of this year! And, lost the promised OBC also. So after looking at Florida options and this cruise, i picked this. When i get off I'll be going on Meraviglia 2 days later on Sept 18 with friends!  This one is solo for me.

This is the first time I am really annoyed with Carnival, and i am Platinum with them. I plan on writing guest relations about not being informed about the dates. If i didnt book and sail by 9/30, I would have lost over a thousand dollars. So with that and a gift card, this cruise is "free" (sort of) for me.

Hope to meet some of you onboard!  So looking forward to another cruise. I hope the weather cooperates.  It's a good itinerary.

  12. Hi everyone,

May book this......it comes at a good time for me.  I think -- It would be my 5th transatlantic. 2 were carnival. I was looking at air since people are commenting. I guess i am lucky.  only 381 from NY to Barcelona. Love that city and have been there 3 or 4 times now.

I like goingto the opera in Barcelona and i am in luck. there is something i'd like to see before the cruise leaves.

Right now i am a single traveler.  but i have to think about this. hope i can join you all.

Nope, not made up..someone just posted about it on another thread. I am not sure what ship but they

said it is in Pt. Canaveral...….I think they did say it is a Carnival ship.

I have already sent it to one friend, and will send it to another die hard cruiser.  thanks.   I am only about an hour from Pt. Canaveral right now.  I'd love to see it.
