  1. Yes, that info came straight from Captain Leo. He said she would be joining the Summit tomorrow, working together for 3 weeks, then taking over on 9-13-15 for 3 months while he is on vacation. He said that there are 2 captains per ship, but while one is out, the other is in charge. When he comes back, she will be gone for 3 months. Everyone on the Summit is very excited for her arrival!!

I hope he convinces her to go north on embarkation days. We applauded and thanked him for that today.

Review to follow next week after unwinding........

  2. Hi. I am looking to find out some info on Ubervida. Has anyone done their snorkeling tour? Does anyone in Bermuda know how to contact them? I have called the number on their website, to which I keep getting an answering machine, I have used the contact form on their website, to which I receive no reply, and then I sent them a regular email and again, no reply.

Are they still in business? I would appreciate any help anyone can give.

    Thanks!!

  3. New to Celebrity and loving the review!

I have a question, though. In the Celebrity Today paper that you posted, under "information", it stated that when in Fort Lauderdale, Key West, or in US waters up to 3 miles from shore, there would be 6% sales tax added to all purchases at the bar.

What if you have a drink package? Are you paying the sales tax? Does this apply to all Celebrity ships? What gives with that anyway? I never heard of such a thing.

    Thanks for the reply!

  4. Norris, thank you so very much for all the time and effort that went into your review. For people like me who can't cruise much anymore, it was an absolute treat to relive those wonderful "cruising" days!

I have always loved Princess more than any other line, but they don't seem to cater too much to the east coast as they once did. Flying to Fort Lauderdale is always fun, but the Caribbean itineraries are getting old. Your past itinerary sounded quite nice, so I looked for next year, and don't see anything similar.

I loved the Ritz Carlton review! That in itself looks wonderful!

Again, thanks so much for a WONDERFUL read! I for one, truly appreciate it!

  5. Depending upon where on Eagle Beach it will be between $9-$10.

Taxi fare should be $9 each way.

Does the Strea depart from the Marina which is adjacent to the cruise terminal? If so, then time wise it is doable.

Now whether or not it is worth it, for $18, that is your decision.

Just wanted to add that taxi fares are an additional $3 each way on Sunday and holidays.

Private tours via taxi are now $45 per hour.

Taxi fares are per trip, NOT per person and allow, by law a maximum of 5 persons, regardless the size of the vehicle.

Many taxis drivers in Aruba now drive SUV's and Vans.

The Strea does depart from the marina by the cruise ships. Thanks so much for the info on the taxis. That is very useful information. I can't wait to experience Aruba.

  6. Arubalisa, I have a question for you. We will be docked from 8am-5pm. We have already booked with Strea for the day which will be leaving at 9:30am. Friends of mine who have been to Aruba and LOVED it, want me to go to Bucuti Resort to stand in front of the webcam between 9 and 9:15am.

My question is, can we make it there and back using a cab? From your chart, I think the fare should be about $10 each way, but do you think the cabbie will wait a few minutes for us to get to the webcam, do our wave, get back in the cab and make it back to the dock by 9:15?

    Is this even worth doing?

    Thanks for your advice!
