I can do the same on my Barclays app, on the odd occasion a customer insists on paying by cheque.. Yes, they still exist...

    Andy

I also have the Barclays app but that function is not on it. According to Barclays FAQ's it is being gradually rolled out. You must be one of the favoured.

I phoned to make a point. Also thought they could refund my credit card. Just not sure if I want to pay in a cheque for £1.75, but I may do so, it does need to stop happening.

It's not always necessary to visit a bank to pay a cheque in. I can pay into my Halifax account using their app on my smartphone. Although I have never used it as cheques are now disappearing, it seems quite easy to do.

Using Microsoft Edge as my browser I was able to login but not view my cruise bookings or past history.

I switched to Google Chrome browser and was able to do this though when I clicked on "Manage Account & Loyalty" it prompted me to login again on a new screen.

Once I'd done that everything was where it should be.

This has happened before with P&O where their website seems sensitive to different browsers.

Similar with me. Cannot access it using Chrome as my security suite appears to be blocking it (Kaspersky). If I disable some of the components it is ok. Never had this problem before.

  4. Just returned from an excellent Music Festivals at Sea themed cruise aboard the Oriana. This was the last of the 33rd annual series and due to 'commercial sensitivity surrounding the sale of the Adonia- P&O', none are scheduled for 2018, though it is hoped that they will be resumed in 2019. Not everyone enjoys the 'shouty, over amplified Headliners, or the pretentious so-called Food Heros with their franglais menus.

A music cruise which I would like to be on, however you wouldn't get my wife anywhere near it.

  5. .Good morning folks

We are doing the transatlantic repositioning cruise in Oct, does anyone know what time the coach leaves Manchester airport and where from.

    Any help appreciated.

    Viv

We have done this cruise a couple of times, the coach leaves from the coach station which is located between terminals 1 and 2. These terminals are connected via an overhead walkway so access is very easy.

  6. Well if it is a safety and not a money issue please explain why P&O provide launderettes were passengers can not only iron their clothes but also do there laundry.

    Peter and Jenny

In the P and O launderettes the irons are permanently wired to the walls and have a timer which has to be set before it will switch on. The timer starts to count down immediately so cannot be left accidentally turned on. They will also be subject to the same rigorous safety inspections as any other electrical item.

  7. I have just been checking through my old Horizons and it was in 2013 on the Ventura and called The Great Debate...held in the Exchange bar at noon and hosted by a member of the entertainment crew. The subjects were

Should there be an EU Referendum before the next Election?

Has Political Correctness Gone too far?

Should we bring back National Service?

    Benefit Britain

Did We really Go to the Moon?

They were spread out over the 14 night cruise. The host didn't offer any opinion himself he just presided over it and kept it in order. It was very enjoyable and there was many varying opinions but unfortunately it was in competition with the gaming machines.

Remember this from a couple of years ago on Ventura.

I attended one as a spectator in the Exchange bar and enjoyed listening to it.

The debate was quite vigorous and I remember the host saying, "What is said in here stays in here". Obviously not everybody's views were the same, I thought the concept was good but maybe it didn't always stay in the venue, hence the idea was dropped.

  8. Excursions usually released after cruise has been paid for. You can book them online and you pay for them at the time. You could wait until on the ship but popular ones can sell out quite quickly so be aware that if you leave it you may be disappointed.

I would just add that excursions are a little cheaper to book before you go. Recently the price on board has been about 5% more than the shoreside price.

  9. Going to Caribbean on December 11th and was looking for ideas for the above ports as we have not visited them before. We enjoy beach days as well as some sightseeing. Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Maggie

We have been to these islands but can only really help with Aruba. Their is a local bus station about a minute or two's walk from the port gates. From here the local bus runs frequently to Eagle beach and Palm beach, only cost a couple of dollars each way. Curacao was a taxi to the beach we went to but can't remember which one it was. Haven't been to a beach on Bonaire.

  10. Hoping that somebody will be able to help with my query. Normally we cruise with P & O and opt for Freedom dining which is our preference, although when we first started cruising the only option was first or second sitting, buffet or select restaurants. Do Thomson have Freedom dining in much the same way as P & O?

    Many thanks.

    Chris.

  11. I think the OPs itinerary has New Orleans as being the first port of call that's in the USA. Just a warning that we were on Ventura some years back where this was the case. Those on P&Os excursions were first to present themselves to immigration in the terminal and all others were required to obtain a numbered card the day before. They would then be called off by numbers. We were about number 4 so we're off reasonably quickly at about 9.30 however when we reboarded about 4.30 they were just calling number 24 with many more numbers to go. There were about 6 immigration desks manned and they were very very slow so some people got to see very little of this lovely City. They even required every single crew member to present themselves to immigration even if they were not getting off the ship! Just a heads up to hopefully help you avoid such an issue.

I think we were probably on the same cruise only we joined in New Orleans on New Years Eve. We heard about the horrific delays with U.S. immigration for people on board but we were fortunate that our immigration was at the airport and was quite fast. Unfortunately our flight was delayed by five hours so we didn't arrive at Ventura until 23:00 on a formal night. We made the best of it and enjoyed the spectacular fireworks at midnight with our cases arriving some time later. Didn't get to see New Orleans as we set sail the following morning on a very misty day. It was eerie as we sailed along the Mississippi, the mist was hovering just above the levees. A fantastic cruise which I wish was repeated more often.

  12. Does anyone know the cost of transportation with P and O from Port Canaveral to a Disney drop off? We have tickets left over from a couple of years ago and as one of stops is at PC it would be an opportunity to use them. Thanks.

We did similar trip on Ventura about five years ago. Booked the transfer to Magic Kingdom and bought our tickets on arrival. Have you checked the Cruise Personaliser to see if they are still doing this trip?

  13. Only did breakfast in Le Jardin one day and it wasn't brilliant so went back to main dining room or the Plaza for breakfast or lunch on a sea day.

Not sure if there are any other places to eat in addition to Le Jardin, if there are I didn't find them.

There are other venues other than Cafe Jardin. You can go to the buffet in the Plaza or alternatively one of the restaurants on deck 5 or 6. This has waiter service and you will order from the menu, I usually have the P and O breakfast although there is plenty of choice.

  14. We were in Liverpool aboard Magic toward the end of our transatlantic cruise last month. The ship drew large crowds, but there was none of the shoreside activities you saw.

I think your visit was on a Friday. Liverpool tend to put on celebrations and events on Saturday or Sunday when more people are not in work and the children don't have to go to school. However I hope you enjoyed your visit here.

    :)
