  1. Headed down South on the Grandeur of the Seas in a few weeks, it will only be my 2nd solo cruise and while I am really looking forward to it, I am also a little nervous. I usually go with a group, but really want to be at sea on Super Bowl Sunday. (ha!ha!).

  2. I am looking at the 4th of July 2017 cruise on the Celebrity Summit.

With it being a little on the expensive side, I was just wondering if anyone has cruised on this ship and any thoughts on it. I am still trying to decide if it might be worth the cost.

    Thanks.

  3. LOVE cruising Disney solo!! Only done the Dream and Fantasy, but have had ZERO issues with them!!

If they hadn't made either cruise I could take next year (Winter or Spring Break) a stupid Star Wars one, I would be back on my Fantasy at least once next year!

  4. Me! I did this cruise in fall of 2014. I had a great time and met so many wonderful people. I booked the one you are considering yesterday. Again, as a solo.

    Hi Lesal:

Awesome, great to hear it's a good cruise and that you have already booked. I am hoping to decide and hopefully book within the week.

  5. Hi.

Has anyone ever taken a Disney cruise solo? I am seriously looking at the Panama Canal one in October of 2017 from San Diego to Galveston. Based on length of time it is what I normally pay for an inside cabin.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks.

  6. I have done a cruise on it last year, it was not that great. Was very hard to find other solos to socialize with. But then after a few month I did a cruise on Breakaway, what a huge difference. So from now on I will only cruise on Breakaway, I hate flying so that is the reason I will stick to Breakaway. But if I were to fly I would do Escape, Gateway or Epic with NCL. All these ships are best for solos, at least in my opinion.

Hi, thanks for the input. I just booked a cruise on the Breakaway for next year. No need to fly, just hop a train, looking forward to it.

  7. Hi.

First of all, I am glad you got back safely from the cruise last week and sorry you all went through that experience.

Thank you for sharing your experience as I have been trying to decide which solo trip to use between the Anthem and the Breakaway.

Thinking I will try my first solo one with NCL/Breakaway.

    Thanks again for sharing.

  8. Thanks Quilting Cruiser.

Just to clarify, I am looking at a New Year's Eve cruise next year (2016 into 2017). There is one on the Breakaway out of New York and one on the Carnival Pride out of Baltimore.

I guess what I am specifically looking at is input from anyone who has taken the New Year's eve cruise solo. Also, I have never been on either of these ships and not sure if the Breakaway would be better since it is set up for solos.

    Thank you.

  9. Hi.

One cruise I have always wanted to take is a NY cruise.

Even though I know it costs more, I am seriously thinking of doing it next year and am looking for some feedback/information.

Because I live outside of Philadelphia, I am looking at either the Breakaway out of NY or the Pride out of Baltimore.

Any input, thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  10. I forgot about this board as I have been trying to figure out a cruise to do for next year and will be going solo. I just realized while I have been cruising with a singles group and enjoying it there are certain ones that I really want to do. I know of PC one on Disney in May 2016, I also want to do NE/Canada and NYE those are the ones one my list for right now.

I have to remind myself to keep checking this site to see who is doing what :)

  11. Hi.

I have been wanting to do a Disney cruise, but would also be doing it solo. Seems that there a number of solo cruisers which I think is great. So glad I found this thread, helps me not to be so unsure of giving it a shot. I have cruised on Disney before, but never solo.

Any recommendations on when might be a better time to go, I assume during the school season?

    Thanks.

  12. I agree with Runner2013. NCL has very solo friendly cruises on the Breakaway and Getaway. I've been on each ship once and I'm going on the Breakaway again on December 13th. Go to the NCL website and check it out. Whether you get a solo studio or another type of cabin, ALL solos are welcome to the evening get-togethers.

Thanks for the info, I am definitely going to check out these 2 ships.:)

  13. Hi Annie,

Lots of people book their cruises months to years in advance. I suggest you search around for something that interests you, and once you book a trip, join the roll call on these boards.

I usually lean towards Royal Caribbean but I've read there are other lines which may be a bit more solo friendly to choose from.

The best thing to do is keep an open mind when looking around and see what works best for you. :)

Thank you for the information and thoughts, appreciate it.:)

  14. Hi.

I have been on cruise critic before, but just came across this thread. What a fantastic idea. I have been on singles cruises before, but there are others that I have always wanted to try. I have cruised solo twice before and while I did okay, it was a little tough.

Are there any people going on cruises yet for next year? I am trying to find a different one, any suggestions.

    Thanks.
