  1. Hello,

while we were onboard Jewel of the Seas first sailing back in Europe from Cyprus on July 10th, I was able to make a video of the „newly“ added cabins on Deck 11 and would like to share it with you. Jewel of the Seas is the only ship within the Radiance Class, that has these cabins.

During the dry-dock refurbishment in 2016, several new "Spacious Ocean View Staterooms with Balcony" cabins were added on Deck 11 (1140 through 1162). These are located adjacent to the Vitality Spa and are the only cabins on Deck 11! The balcony is opened to the sky and NOT under a full cover from higher floors and therefore it could be affected by bad weather. The only thing above is the running track, which maybe could cause some noise issues. Very convenient location to the forward elevators and the Solarium pool area.

Balcony stateroom with two twin beds that convert to a Royal King, a sitting area, a private balcony and a private bathroom with shower. You can accommodate up to 2 guests in this particular cabin. Category: 4B!

    Stateroom: 9660

Stateroom Category: 4B - Spacious Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

    Starboard or Port Side: Aft

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very quiet

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. No obstructions! Wake view!

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? Huge balcony with two loungers in addition to two chairs and a table.

    Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? On some days, depending on the wind.

Any other comments? I uploaded my cabin video here:

  3. Hello PugM0m,

we just came back home from our B2B cruise onboard Freedom of the Seas and I was also interested in those 4 newly added interior cabins on Deck 12 for our next cruises.

Attached you will find links to my videos, I made of each cabin (Freedom of the Seas 1801, 1803 ,1851, 1853):

Freedom of the Seas Interior Stateroom Cabin 1801

Freedom of the Seas Interior Stateroom Cabin 1803

Freedom of the Seas Interior Stateroom Cabin 1851

Freedom of the Seas Interior Stateroom Cabin 1853

I hope those videos will help you a little bit. :-)

    Greetings from Germany,

  4. Hi,

before our cruise I couldn’t find an answer here for my worries.

I was worried about possible noise issues in balcony cabin 9642 onboard Freedom of the Seas, after I found out that the Royal Suite is located above on Deck 10 (especially worried about the subwoofer of the piano and the hot tub on the balcony) and wanted to share our experience with you:

We just came back from our cruise and we had no noise issues at all in that cabin. The center hump balcony was fantastic, we had an awesome view to aft and forward! Yes, there was the water pipeline of the Royal Suite Jacuzzi located on the ceiling of our balcony, but we never had any noise issues caused to it. Also we had no noise issues due to the traffic from elevators and stairways, inside the cabin you couldn’t hear anything! I made a video, in which you will be able to see the water pipeline and view from the balcony.

After 14 days (B2B C ruise) in cabin 9642 we can absolutely recommend it and say „go for it!“🙂

it is balcony cabins 9640 and 9642 that would get the possibility of more noise from RS

Especially 9642 which is under the subwoofer and the balcony is under the hot tub

  6. Today I did the online checkin for my B2B out of San Juan ... first leg Sept 8th .... I remember last time I couldn't do the online checkin for my 2nd leg but today it allowed me to actually complete both...and yes there is a drop down for a consecutive cruiser..departure on the 1st leg and arrival on the 2nd leg.

I assume everything will be the same for this 2nd San Juan B2B...got our new SeaPass cards the day before end of 1st leg and escorted off and right back on again.

Sadly it was less than 2 hours that we had the ship to ourselves....darn those early boarders ;)

I checked in for our B2B in October and both checkins didn’t show the page with questions about arrival and departure. Checkin is completed!

    Hm?

  7. Hello,

we stayed in interior cabin 8013 on onboard Brilliance in July 2018.

It was a quiet location with not much traffic outside.

Here is a picture video, I made of our cabin, so you can see the layout (it’s cabin category 4V).

We made friends with a couple, who stayed in 8001 (first interior cabin at the very front) and they had a different layout of the cabin. 8001 is a connecting stateroom with 8003.

I also made a picture video:

I hope it will help you a little bit in your decision. We always prefer Deck 8&9 onboard Radiance Class ships!

    Greetings,

    Stefanie

  8. I find it interesting that 7254 and 7260 are considered obstructed on Ovation but not on Anthem.

7254 is a Square cabin with more frontage on the water. 7260 will be more recessed with more shelter and shade. Read this thread about the Square Cabins on Anthem. Post 3 contains links to videos and pictures.

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2622300 look at the video of 7258.

I like the Square cabins. The shower is rectangular with a glass door. The room just feels more spacious. IMO the chair is comfortable as opposed to the standard balcony couch which I don't find comfortable and is a waste of space. You will have a much wider bright ocean view from the Square cabin. 7260 will be recessed enough to affect your ocean view and the brightness in your cabin.

Thank you so much for your information!

    We decided for 7254 :)

  11. Hello,

we will be docked at the Fisherman Island Grain Terminal on October 30th 2016 and are interested to visit the Gold Coast, especially Surfers Paradise!

We tried to book a rental car but since it's a Sunday all stations in the city center close at 1pm.

Now I looked up the Royal Caribbean excursions and found one with that title:

Day at the Gold Coast - BS10.

It doesn't say to which beach the transfer is, but it says you can spend the time on your own.

Did anyone of you guys that excursion?

    Where is it going to?

I really appreciate your help or any other ideas how we could manage to visit Surfers Paradise!

    Thanks!

    Stefanie

  12. They were charging about $28US for the shuttles with RCL so you're a bit better off there.

That said, with 4 of us and having been there before it wasn't worth anywhere near the money to take the shuttle to the city so just stayed onboard for the day.

I doubt it's 10 minutes walk away unless they mean the walk through the gangway and terminal. Usually the buses are right out the front, the same place as taxis and anyone else.

Was it 28$ one-way or return?

  13. They did indeed arrange for shuttle buses at $20.75AUD pp return. $15.75AUD for children.

They dropped off at the Treasury Casino near the Victoria Bridge. If there's a group to go into town it would be more economical to take a taxi for 10. The driver will be more than happy to arrange for the return trip. I know people tried to book a maxi taxi to meet them at the pier but this was not possible.

    Hello Linda,

Voyager of the Seas will be also docked at the Fisherman Island Grain Terminal outside of Brisbane.

Do you know how much the price is for a taxi to Treasury Casino and back?

We want to grab a rental car at the near of the Casino (there are a lot of rental car stations) and drive to Surfer's Paradise.

How long did the ride take?

    Thanks for helping!

  14. We were in Queensland for four days last week after cruising from Sydney to Brisbane. I'd also recommend hiring a car. We rented from Budget Hamilton which is two blocks walk from the cruise terminal and then returned to Brisbane International Airport before flying back to NZ. We then had the flexibility of going to Springbrook National Park and several theme parks while based on the Gold Coast. There were five of us so it worked out a lot cheaper than paying for public transport. Having previously lived in the UK, the roads are very similar and easy to navigate. Note that there isn't much of a footpath between the cruise terminal and rental car location - just a grass verge for most of the way - so it isn't the easiest to navigate with large suitcases.

Note: just read that OP doesn't drive - maybe this will help someone else.

    Hello,

was the Budget rental car station on that address:

12 Curtin Ave W, Eagle Farm QLD 4009, Australien

We also want to rent a car at the cruise port of Brisbane - but google maps shows only one station at the cruise wharf which is located at the Brisbane River... I think that's not the cruise port, or?

  15. Ship - Royal Caribbean: Jewel of the Seas

    Deck - Deck 9

    Stateroom - 9260

    Stateroom Category – D1

Starboard or Port Side - Aft

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, at the end of the ship. Only noise from daily announcements over the speaker in the hallway.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. - 180 degrees view from aft balcony. No obstructions.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - oversized. Two chairs + table and two loungers.

Was wind a problem? - No.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Depending on the wind. We could smell soot on 2 nights (of 14 nights).

Any specific problems with this cabin? - There were every day the same problems with the toilet. We had to call minimum once per day maintenance to fix it.

    1. We pushed the button and nothing happend (no sound, no flush, no vacuum)

    or

    2. We pushed the button and water was coming but no vacuum, even when toilet was empty.

Our neighbors in cabin 9660 had the same problem.

On port days there was in the morning no hot water available in the shower, only warm water.

In the evening there was only warm/hot water flushing out of the water tap. No cold water.

    Any other comments? -

We loved the location of the cabin. The cabin was quiet and the balcony was huge. Space was enough for 14 nights cruise. We had a flat screen TV in the room. A lot of other cabins still have older TVs. The bed was a little bit to hard - but the stateroom attendant softend it up a little bit. On other RCCL Ships the beds are better.

  16. Hi,

thank you so much for answering!

We are glad that all worked out well for you - so we wrote them today as well...

How many hours have you been on tour with them?

Was there plenty of time at the end?

Our ship departure time is 7pm...

Also I saw that you wanted to go to Guatemala City (HRC as well!?) did you make it there? If yes, what company and can you recommend?

    Thanks!
