  1. I can shed some light why your room was swapped. We had the same issue last year in December with a 2 bedroom suite. We did however luckly get upgraded to 2x yacht Club Deluxes. There was myself, wife, son and my mother.

The reason is that they changed your cabin is that they are using all the 2 Bedroom suites for COVID isolation.

Looks like they may be inspecting Port Canaveral, on the part camera their is a small boat going back and forth across the channel.

Marine tracffic says it’s pilot boat 3.

Yeah I've just been watching that too, promising for an early check in tomorrow , yay !

I've been checking the port cams in Miami, Everglades, and Canaveral and it's a little eerie.

They are still pictures nothing is moving only Canaveral is actually live

Edit.  FLL beach cam is live though just not the port cam

    Dear Mariner Guest,

We have some unfortunate news to share. With Hurricane Dorian’s increased strength, current projections, and the need for Port Authorities to assess when they’ll reopen, there’s a high possibility that the ship’s arrival into Port Canaveral will be further delayed. Your vacation time is very important to us and we don’t want to take any chances, so we have no choice but to cancel our September 4th sailing.

If you’re still interested in sailing with us, we do have an awesome option for you! Harmony of the Seas is sailing on September 5th, and we’d be more than happy if you’d join us onboard this cruise instead. The itinerary is outlined below. We can move you and you won’t have to pay anything extra! Yeah, that’s right, we said the swap is for free! Harmony’s September 5th itinerary is below.

While we hope you choose to rebook the September 5th Harmony of the Seas cruise, if you decide not to sail, we’ll provide you with a full refund of your Mariner of the Seas cruise to the original form of payment. This includes any non-refundable deposits, shore excursions, packages, or any pre-purchased items. We’re also currently working with some of our airline partners, as some have agreed to waive change fees for our guests due to this special circumstance. Please contact your airline service provider for additional details.

And regardless, as previously promised, you’ll receive a Future Cruise Credit in the value of 2 days of the total cruise fare paid, in hopes you’ll join us on another cruise in the future. This amount will be based on the cruise fare portion, non-inclusive of taxes and fees. You can expect to receive your certificate by Friday, September 6th, 2019.

Click here to select to rebook on Harmony or cancel your cruise!  You can also reach us at 1-800-529-6918 to let us know what you decided, but due to the storm and multiple itinerary changes, wait times are a little longer than normal.

We are truly sorry for the storm’s impact on your vacation. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation during this unexpected circumstance. We hope to welcome you onboard soon.

    Sincerely,

I'll see you onboard Harmony !! That's not a bad deal

NCL is doing this for both the Breakaway and the Sun - they're heading to New Orleans now. I can imagine HUGE logistical issues with 5000+ cruisers trying to get home from a different port :classic_sad:

    From the NCL site:

We have been in close communication with government and local port authorities as to the earliest Norwegian Breakaway would be able return to Miami, Florida.  Due to the uncertainty of when the port will reopen, the cruise will conclude in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 3

Wow that's a serious blow, not just a different port but a different state !

Latest update from captain johnny - we’re sailing north and will spend the next day or so cruising around the south coast of Cuba waiting for word from the coast guard and the pc harbormaster when pc is cleared for commercial ship traffic. He was non-commital on when we would actually get back. The message was that we were still shooting for Wednesday, but he didn’t sound at all confident that would happen.

As an aside, when tropical storm Hugo ran back and forth across Florida, pc silted in and it took a week for them to clear the channel. So as long as the beer holds out, we’re on here for the duration.

we did take on provisions from mariner while we were in Cozumel today, so all is good.

Your not in my cabin are you?  Lol  I wish I was you so lucky

P.s. I'm certain it will be Thursday now

  7. 1st September update from RCL says nothing has changed and Harmony will be still docking 4th September however Marine Traffic is saying different .

Maybe they will see if Dorian clears quicker or else it will be down to a 3 night cruise for us. After seeing what's hapenned in the Bahamas I'm really not all that bothered about missing a few days cruising   those peoples lives are ruined.

Or had they waited they would be chastised just like NCL whose guests just found out the day before that they weren’t going to dock tomorrow.

This storm did many unexpected things.    Royal has long been criticized for waiting too long and not letting people know of their plans and now they are getting criticized for making a decision so that people could make plans.  They just can’t win.

Yeah I totally agree I'm just disgruntled I guess. Also now seeing that Port Canaveral has closed the port for no reason I think it was they that made RCL make the decision.  There is  no way in this world PC will have tropical force winds in the next 24 hours unless Dorian speeds up to about 50 knots . It is what it is and we are not to bad we are still having a great time in Florida

SilentChill--it is all going to depend on the storm surge and exact track.  My forecaster is watching carefully what happens over the Bahamas to have a better sense, but says the storm surge is going to be bad (somewhere along the east coast) no matter the track.

Yeah I think RCL may of made another booboo here because to make everyone try and change flight/hotels/car hire again because they were too hasty is going to cause uproar.  I know it's the weather and cant be helped but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  We may get a 3 day cruise out of it at least

  10. What do we think the chances are for ships docking into Canaveral on Wednesday ?  Dorian will be well north according to latest tracks but if it does skirt closer to land all the people who work in the port surely won't be able to get there?

We are supposed to be on Harmony but I'm having big doubts
