  1. I'm sorry you didn't feel well. I'm worried about this issue for my daughter, who gets motion sickness in cars, but she's been on sailboats and other boats before without issue - but she's only been on them for a couple of hours, not several days!

How long did the dolphin encounter last? Does each person get individual time with the dolphin? We signed up for this, we haven't told my daughter yet but she's going to be over the moon about it.

I too get sick in the car, other boats never bothered me. I felt fine until that last day. The boat was really rocking or at least I thought so. I am not sure if that is normal or not. It wasn't like that the other days and I was fine. I never got sick, just felt it. My head waiter told me to just not think about it. I found that when I was preoccupied it wasn't as bad, but its hard to not think about it. Lol.

I am not sure how long it lasted exactly it seemed like a good while, but we went over to a building on the left right when we arrived on the island. We signed a waiver they told us a little bit of information about dolphins. Then we got down to our bathing suit. A friend had told me she wore her flip flops. I had read it was rocky, so I bought some cheap water shoes to wear, I was the only one besides my friend. They split us up into 2 groups of I think about 10. They introduced the dolphin, showed us her tricks. Then they had us in a line and she swam by on her stomach, back, then side and each time we got to touch her. Then the photographer came over from the other group, each little group got time with the dolphin. We got to "lift her out of water", kiss on the cheek and if you wanted kiss on the lips. They took pictures of it all. They sell the pictures on a disc for 70 dollars, you put it on your sign and sail card. Luckily my friend and I could have all our pictures on the disc and just make the other a copy so it was just 35 a piece. So your family could do it all on one disc and get all the pictures of everyone. The one lifting the dolphin is a group picture. They also add in some stock pictures of their dolphins doing tricks. I loved it! She will too!

  2. Another good review of the Fascination. The man you referred at the bar Putting on The Ritz, is Tommy. He is the best bar tender we have ever met in all our cruises.:D

He was great and so friendly, the woman was also good. I was surprised at how great all of the crew were on this ship. I really didn't meet anyone who I didn't care for.

  3. I love that even though you say you weren't feeling well you still had a great time and gave a very fair, not a negative review. I hope your next cruise is even better than your first and that you don't get sick again.:D We sailed on the Fascination in 2010 and had a really nice time. It was a 5-day cruise which our DS (then 16) didn't like. He's spoiled, since he's been cruising since he was 9 mostly on 7-day cruises. He felt it was too short. How did you like the ship itself? It wasn't really one of my favorites. It's probably the only ship that I can say I haven't really cared for. I still had a good time, just didn't like the ship. I found it boring actually but I'd be interested to know what you thought of it.

I really hope I dont get sick again too. Not sure if what we felt was normal rocking or just a bad time, but I felt horrible even with medicine. I liked the ship, I thought it was easy to figure out where everything was, but I have never been on anything else. Maybe it was a good first time ship since it is smaller.

  4. Thanks so much for telling us about your time in this review!

It's always happy to read about someone who had a fantastic time.

Feel sure you'll have a wonderful time on Glory. The piano bar is way better on Glory. :D

We actually never made it to the piano bar, when we walked by it never seemed too busy. I will have to try it out on the Glory.

  5. I took the February 27th-4 day cruise to the Bahamas on the Fascination. I went with my friend from work. We drove down a day early to meet my grandparents in Lake City, since they would be driving us over and dropping us off to save a little money.

We arrived at the port around 1130, we walked right on. There were no lines at all. We were told our room would be ready by 1230. We decided to go ahead and tour the ship. We went to the room, then went up and grabbed some pizza. We actually signed up for Cheers on this trip. Muster drill went quickly, then went to the verandah deck all the way aft to meet people from our roll call. I ended up only meeting one person from there, who turned out to be really nice. We had late dining in the Imagination dining room. Dinner the first night I tried the escargot, which I wasn't crazy about but it was a new experience. I also had the chicken a la grecque. That was ok, not what I was expecting but good. I finished with the warm chocolate melting cake. Ended up going to bed for an early night after a little time in the casino.

The second day was Freeport. We went to the dining room for breakfast. I had the eggs benedict and it was good. We ended up getting a taxi for $10 round trip to Grand Lucayan Resort, where a day pass was $15. The resort was beautiful. It was also not very crowded at all. We went to grab lunch at a restaurant across the street at the marketplace. I tried conch, but wasn't crazy about it. The fish however was great. That night at dinner was elegant night, I had the lobster and shrimp (very good) and WCMC. I had also tried the strawberry bisque, I liked it but it was a little too sweet for me, felt more like a dessert. We spent some time in the casino. Another early night since we had our dolphin excursion early the next morning.

We got room service for breakfast. I tried the smoked salmon, cream cheese, bagel which was good. Next stop Nassau, we did the Balmoral Beach Day and Dolphin Encounter. It was wonderful. The boat ride over was very bumpy, but the entertainer made it very fun and quick. We went straight over to the encounter when we got to the island. There was a short information session. Then we got in the water as a group with Marge a 9 year old female dolphin. I loved it, it was a great experience. Then we went over to the beach which was very nice. The water was beautiful. Food and drinks were very expensive on the island, we just ended up getting a daiquiri each. There was only our ship on the island, when the other came, it was time for us to go. We went by Senor Frogs. It seemed like a fun place, we split nachos and left since we wanted to get some shopping done. My souvenirs were some mango rum, a rum cake, kalik beer, a shot glass, and some conch shell ornaments. Tonight I ended up feeling a little sick so I didn't eat much at dinner. I really appreciated the fact that our head waiter Elmer noticed and offered to get me something else. He was wonderful! I had the mushroom cream pasta, it was good just felt nauseous from the ship rocking. We went back to the casino again and as I kept drinking I ended up forgetting a little about being sick. We went up to the deck party and then to the night club before bed.

The sea day we started out by going to brunch. Both me and the lady next to me both felt sick, so I didn't eat much. I got the eggs benedict again. The waiters seemed a little confused by the menu, but I think it was relatively new when we went. I ended up not eating much. The ship was really rocking so I went and took a nap. We ended up skipping dinner, since the rocking got worse and just ordered room service. Another BLT for me. We went to the casino for a little bit, but I ended up feeling bad so I went back to pack and go to bed.

I ended up buying two pictures that turned out well. I had some others that looked horrible, luckily you can just throw them in the bin to discard. Overall it was a great trip. I met some nice people. I just hated that I felt sick the last day. I am not sure if the motion was normal or not. I felt fine for the most part the other days. I even had the scopolamine patch on and had been taking dramamine too. Which is probably why I ended up just laying down. We were in R100, which is a 6B oceanview room. It was nice, we ended up upgrading the last minute for only 10 dollars more a piece to the oceanview room. We had great service throughout. The man and woman at the Putting on the Ritz bar above the Imagination dining room were wonderful. Since I had busy port days and also was sick most of the sea day, Cheers ended up not being worth it for me. I think I actually ended up not really making it worth it. I tried. I decided that it would not be worth it for me again.

I loved my first cruise and we are already planning another. We are going to book the 7 day Western Caribbean on the Glory in December. If you have any questions I will try to answer them. I decided not to do a picture review since it was such a short cruise and this was easier for me, but I do really enjoy them.

  6. My least favorite ship is the Conquest- only because it doesn't have a serenity deck :(

My favorite ship is the Fascination- not only did it have a serenity deck but everything about this ship was nice when I sailed on her ;)

My wish list ship- The Breeze! I can't wait to sail on her one day :p

Glad to see the fascination is your favorite. I am Sailing on her for my first cruise in a few weeks!
