  1. I'll be on upcoming cruise out of Brooklyn during Chanukah. Does anyone know if there are any Hanukkah celebrations on board?

We were on an NCL cruise out of NYC during Hanukkah 2022 and there was a candle lighting ceremony every night with food (or "nosh" as my people say).

  2. My wife and her siblings want to buy her parents a photo package as a gift for an upcoming family cruise. Will they have to be in every picture or can they select pictures that have other family members? I know the photo package is per stateroom but I don't know if that limits them to what photos they can select to print. Thanks, everyone.

  3. Greetings,

I'll be on Getaway in Feb 2018 with my wife's entire family (don't worry, I have the drink package).

Does O'Sheehan's have veggie burgers? We are kosher people so won't be eating any meat or poultry onboard, but we love a veggie burger as much as the next person who also loves a veggie burger. Thanks!!

  4. Not weird at all. Just consider mentioning to the server that your want your apps as your entree. Otherwise they will probably assume you want them as an appetizer and then you might have nothing to eat while your dining companies are digging into their main courses. But as others have said, you do you. I've always found staff very willing to accommodate any reasonable request and this is certainly common. Enjoy your vacay!!

  5. Your husband's request is not out of line at all. On Celebrity they will do this with advanced notice, so NCL might be the same. To the haters out there, the reasons why Indian food request is different from just asking for whatever you want are: a) Many of the chefs are Indian and so are familiar with this type of cuisine and take great pride in cooking it b) it's served in the buffet so it's in the galley already prepared c) it's served to the crew so again it's already made on board and will just require being plated.

The Indian food I had on Celebrity was some of the best I've ever had. I think NCL should follow their lead if they want to attract and retain Desi travelers.

  6. The nice thing about a beverage package is that you can order a drink and not finish it if you don't like it. You can also order any drink that isn't on the menu and it's included as long as it's under $15. So, find a quiet bar, look at the bottles, and ask the bartender about any that look unusual or interesting. I did this on a Celebrity Cruise (no reason to think NCL bartenders would be any different) and discovered a new favorite drink - the caipirinha. Up to you, of course, but a dollar or two to the barkeep for this lesson would surely be appreciated.

  7. I think the exclusivity is what draws some people to offerings like the Haven. Sure one can cruise on a luxury line for the same cost but then one doesn't feel special. In fact, one may only be able to afford a balcony on a luxury line and will need to see even richer people living it up in a suite. Better to select The Haven and know that you are the top of heap.

  8. How very disappointing to find such a poor selection of vegetarian choices, particularly main courses - or do Celebrity offer a separate vegetarian menu as other cruiselines do?

They have a separate vegetarian menu you just need to ask for, or at least they did as of August 2015. If you like Indian food you can also request the Indian vegetarian menu. My wife and I did this and the food was incredible. I've been to India and the Indian food on the Summit was as good as anything I've eaten there. This was the MDR special Indian menu. The buffet food is good but not heavily spiced as it is for a general audience. I believe the Indian meal in the MDR is intended for Hindu vegetarians but it is available to anyone and is delicious.
