  1. Hotel Kong Arthur as suggested is also a very good hotel.

But even closer to the port you have Hotel Østerport at Ehhh Østerport :D

Or Adina Apartment hotel, they have a bus stop for bus 27 almost outside the hotel.

From here you can use bus 26 to get into downtown Copenhagen in no time.

Stay Seaport is also very close to the pier but there is a bit of a walk to the busstop for 27.

For a half day visit I would do a canal tour, a nice walk along Strøget and Tivoli in the evening.

Thank you Danish Viking... super helpful as usual!

  2. A quick question... we are spending one night in Copenhagen before boarding our cruise on 4 July, at Ocean Quay. Where is the best area to book a hotel so it’s not too far from the port but also a reasonable distance from the main attractions or public transport?

Also, any suggestions which attractions we should visit in the half a day that we have in Copenhagen?

    Many thanks.

  3. I’m from Tallinn (not living now) and in the old town there are side walks not covered with cobble stones where the umbrella stroller is ok to use BUT in the day time hours in summer time the old town’s streets and sidewalks are SO full of tourists/groups that the stroller walk can be challenging. It takes me - an able 30-something - much more time to «cut» through the old town in the summer compared to other times of year lol

Otherwise, the free tour was really fun and interesting for myself to do last year when i did it with my not-estonian boyfriend! Funny guide, definitely deserved a good tip.

All the restaurants in Tallinn according to my experience (i have 2 kids) can make something simple for children and are generally some of the most child friendly i’ve seen anywhere ☀️

Thank you very much LillOslo. Very helpful tips!

I’m now thinking of catching the little train (mentioned by someone in this thread earlier) to the old town and walk down. She should be able to manage that!

Just wondering if we can join the free walking tour in the old town or do they only strat at the port? Do you happen to know?

  4. Quick question, when do I call it luggage and when is it baggage.

Because we got luggage compartment but we also have baggage claim areas?

    I'm a little bit confused. :D

Is one term British english and the other American english.

You got me thinking DV. I live in Australia and English is my second language, so I had to google it!

Looks like luggage and baggage are pretty much synonymous when referring to “stuff you carry around when traveling”, except baggage can have a broader meaning... all explained in the link below:

    https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/difference-between-luggage-and-baggage

Thanks for all your help :)

  5. There is a long time storage at the central station.

But the Øresund train is very suited for luggage,

You will get the cheapest ticket on SJ´s own website.

    https://www.sj.se/en/home.html#/

Flixbus, Swebus and Eurolines have busses between between the 2 cities.

Thank you DV, this helps a lot! So is there a luggage compartment on the SJ train? Or are there overhead spaces for the luggage?

Also, do we need to book the train in advance or can we buy the tickets at the airport?

  6. Hi Danish Viking,

Thank you for all the useful information.

We are sailing the return trip from Copenhagen, but before our cruise we want to visit my brother in law in Gothenburg. Could you tell me what’s the best way of getting from Copenhagen airport to Gothenburg (and return from Gothenburg to Copenhagen city centre)? We are travelling with young children and 2 large suite cases + 2 carry ons.

I know the train is the fastest option but is there a luggage compartment we can put our luggage in? Or do we have to carry them on the train?

Flight is too expensive, so our only remaining option is to go with a bus. Just not sure which bus company to go with!

    Many thanks!

  7. We’re also going in July. There is someone who posts on here (KitKat?) who went with a 3 yo who can probably give advice.

I’m guessing there are a lot of cobblestone streets and stairs there...we went to China when my son was 2 and brought an umbrella stroller...it was pretty rough to get around the palace grounds and such with the stroller, I’m guessing tallinin could be similar. Maybe a toddler carrier would be more practical?

Thank you KittyloverCA, we’ll see if we can get her to walk :)
