That is very unfortunate. No idea why they require payment in full so far out from the sailing date.

As a business person, I understand why. Unlike the airlines that require payment in full, they have offered you the courtesy of putting a deposit to hold your booking until 90 days prior to the cruise. If you don’t pay at the 90 day mark, they have a better opportunity to sell your cabin without losing money on it. If they allowed you to wait any longer, they run the risk of not making the amount they expect to make. Very simple and completely spelled out in the contract you made when you paid your deposit.

We ate in the steakhouse on the Valor in February and didn't see anything on the menu about everyone having to order Art at the Table.  I would just ask your wait staff when you order and see what they say.  They are usually very accommodating.

The waitress pushed it and my husband said ok. I said I wanted the cheesecake, I was told I had to get the art of the table because everyone at the table had to get it. I was not happy with the art of the table, and quite frankly, my husband was pissed at the whole thing.

  3. Our experience was horrible with the steakhouse in general and the art of the table was completely laughable. They brought out a commercial grade white cutting board with two things of dessert sauce. They painted a few dessert sauce streaks, then set a few pieces of candy on it and a hollow ball of chocolate that they broke to reveal a tablespoon of some chocolate syrup. It didn’t even last 20 seconds. This was after having to send back the Waygu steak because it was not marbled or tender. It was impossible to cut.

Thanks to CruiseCritic I know that ArriveCan is a requirement. However, I haven't recieved any communication from Carnival about it. When did you get notification that we need it for boarding? Or does it randomly pop up in the cruise manager saying so? My cruise on the Spirit isn't until the end of July, so I am curious if that is why I haven't recieved anything from Carnival about it yet.

Carnival never sends out this type of information until close to cruise time because things frequently change.

  5. To those who asked, this is for the 16 day Panama Canal Cruise. According to the responses here, it seems the rules may vary by which cruise you are taking, which I find very strange. At any rate, it appears that the email is telling me that if I’m eligible for a booster, I must get it. Considering the fact that I’ve now had the two original series of shots plus 2 booster shots, I’m good to go. As mentioned in these responses, I don’t make the rules, I just play the game! Lol. I’m very pro vaccinations. Made sure my kid got everything available and have had everything available for myself as well.😇

  6. Got an email from Carnival about my upcoming cruise. It defined what fully vaccinated means to them. From the email (the holding is mine):

    VACCINATION/BOOSTER REQUIREMENTS

As a reminder, you will be sailing on a vaccinated voyage which requires you to be up to date on your vaccines.  This is defined as having your final dose of an initial COVID-19 vaccine series at least 14 days before your sailing date (not including embarkation day).

Additionally, all guests 12 years and older who are fully vaccinated and are more than 6 months past the date of the last dose of their initial vaccine series, will need to show proof of having received a booster in order to sail.  This means getting an mRNA booster dose (Pfizer or Moderna) no later than 6 months from the last dose in your primary series

    A booster dose is considered:

    • a third mRNA dose in an mRNA series or a mixed vaccine series or;
    • a J&J booster, or an mRNA booster dose if your primary series was a J&J vaccine.

If you are eligible, this notice gives you ample time to get boosted.  You will be considered boosted the day you receive the vaccine with no waiting period required.

Proof of vaccination and booster (if eligible) will be required at check-in.
Guests who do not meet all requirements will be denied boarding and no refund will be provided.

How much would it ruin your cruise if you missed the ship and had to fly to the next port to join it? Fly the day before

Many of the cruise lines now have a policy that you miss your ship, you miss your cruise because of Covid protocol. I would not fly in the day of.

They may not have populated the Speciality Dining options yet.

    Im currently on the Freedom.

When I bought the Chefs Table, I was not given an option of what night. It just auto populates the 1st night. 😮

I think what they do is just auto populate, see how many people are interested, then decide how many nights.

We went to the venue and spoke to the host. They had 3 nights scheduled. The night they had us scheduled for (which was like night 4) didn’t work for us and they easily moved us to a different night.

It tells you that the time and date will be determined later. As it stands on that cruise, it shows up in my planner for 6:30 each evening. Maybe they’ve determined 6:30 but not which night yet. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It says that the tickets will be in my room at checkin and that’s when I’ll know for sure.

  9. They usually have one "Chef's Table" to book with limited capacity. If it doesn't show up, it may not be offered or it may already be sold out. That said, don't know what cruise you are booked on but I'm on a Sept cruise and I've pre-booked my "Chef's Table".

I am a travel enthusiast, and enjoy resorts and tramping in addition to cruising.  I have over 50 cruises (360 sea days) since 2003, but probably spent way more time on land vacations.

I enjoy other lands' culture, food and language so I never limit myself to just the immediate sanitized port area.  Early cruising was sometimes a search to determine if a longer land stay would be enjoyable.

So far, my favorite travel memories involve the Tahitian Islands, Australia and New Zealand, and they were NOT made on a cruise.  My favorite cruise memory was on Disney with my twins and their kids.

I too am hooked on travel. I have travelled more on land than on cruises but find I am cruising more frequently now. My favorite vacations have been to Australia, French Polynesia, and Europe. Of course, those favorite vacations occurred in my young adult life when i was way more active than I am now! Most memorable events from those vacations were feeding the sharks on Bora Bora, watching the turtles lay eggs on Heron Island and the fairy penguins come ashore on Philip Island, and visiting many palaces and museums in Europe (plus the awesome food)!

  11. Had a run in with a questionable "support" dog in a Harris Teeter three days ago. Man puts his invaluable dog (with the online certification collar) in the fold out area of a cart where parents seat their children. I'd had enough. I confronted him and was quite loud hoping to get the attention of all around (I did). I asked what he thought he was doing placing the dog's bare anus and genitals in a shopping cart. A young assistant manager walked up at this time. The dog owner responded that it was none of my business and I couldn't ask. I told him it was definitely my business since I might be using that cart another day and that I didn't want to to place my groceries or granddaughter in a space where the dog's bare bottom had been. I was expecting the "dog's are cleaner than people" bull defense, but it didn't come. I raised my voice even more to remind him that I could ask him anything I want, that I was not restricted by ADA. The assistant manager was in an uncomfortable position. I reminded him that this wasn't a challenge of ADA rights since the dog wasn't restricted from coming into the store. I confronted the ADA "expert" clarifying that ADA gets his darling dog in the door; it isn't a free pass into a shopping cart.

He didn't have an answer for that. He quietly said to the manager that he would carry the dog "to get him off the hook." That set me off again. I bellowed that the dog belonged on a leash, not in a cart, and that this was not a one time challenge. I made it clear that any time I would see him in the store with a dog in a cart, I would follow right behind him and would very loudly and continuously protest.

The phonies use ADA as weapon to scare proprietors away from challenges. They make a mockery of those with legitimate service animal needs. ADA doesn't apply to passengers adversely affected by the erstwhile service dogs. Time for us to strike back. A dog relieves itself inappropriately on a ship, raise a very loud protest. Do everything you can to focus attention on the defecator. Someone puts little Bootsie on her lap at the dinner table, start yelling, yes yelling, for the maitre d. I think you will find that this will empower others who have had enough. It's time for RCCL and other proprietors to know that pacifying the one is not worth the uproar of the majority.

    Love this!
