  1. We also experienced Royal Caribbean excusing us from muster before everyone else. However, that did not stop the able bodied from rushing to the elevator to beat us on.

I have to put my two cents worth in here. I am disabled and cannot walk over 100 feet at a time. I do NOT think the disabled in wheelchairs or scooters should get dismissed first, we have seats and are sitting down. Some of the non- handicapped are in bad shape and truely need to sit down. The same goes for the elevator! I feel that should be a first come first serve, although I am totally NOT saying anyone else should be able to push past us. However, holding a door is ALWAYS appreciated! Rant over. Thank You all!

  2. I can help with some of Your questions.

    1. You should get there by 2:00, You might have to wait but that ship leaves at 4:00 usually. I'd rather wait than miss the ship due to a flat tire or something.

    2. If I'm not mistaken, the Cheer's Pkg. starts the Next morning. I don't drink so I'm not positive about this one.

    3. I used my CC one time in Cozumel with no problem, but I would NEVER do it again! Take cash or get a CC with a couple hundred dollars on it then close it when You get home!

    4. I never had a problem. I have Verizon and my phone was one of the few that got reception when we got back to port before exiting the ship.

    Enjoy Your Cruise!

  3. First time cruiser with a few questions. How many pieces of luggage are you allowed to bring per person on the cruise? Is it the same for children? Do they actually weigh your suitcase to make sure it is under the required pounds? Also at the ports are you allowed to bring towels from your room off the ship to use on the beach? Thanks for any answers!

No, they don't weigh your luggage but the airlines DO. Yes, it is the same for children. You are allowed to take Your "Beach" towels off the ship. BUT they are strictly counted, lose it and it will cost you!! I "think" the price is $50 EACH!

  4. On our last cruise, I was celebrating my B-day AND surviving Cancer, Radiation and Chemo! I was ecstatic to be "done" with my treatments. I was hoping for a little acknowledgement. I didn't even get a Happy Birthday greeting! This next cruise, my Birthday is 17 days "before" our cruise. Would my B-day to far past to mention it?

If not, who do I mention it too?

    Thank You so much!

  5. I do not believe so. FTTF allows priority boarding at embarkation, tendering, and debarkation a well as priority line for guest services. It is my understanding that these perks are also given to suite passengers.

The FTTF go on the ship right behind the Diamonds and Platinums. I'm sure of this. Also the FTTF guests will have their room ready, right after the Diamonds and Platinums. We always buy FTTF because I'm handicapped and it sure does help me.

  6. Thoughts....

    • what type of wheelchair is this? Is it a transport chair where a loved one can push you?

I done Alaska and Pacific repositions.... the transport chair has its advantages as long as someone is able to push you.

    • can use a regular cabin
    • no need to worry about recharging
    • can use a regular cab with the transport chair collapsed
    • we have a transport chair where the armrests fold up lambo style. Can be wheeled into the MDR table without a transfer.
    • the small wheels can be uncomfortable on rough surfaces
    • only problem I found on my cruise trips is the door lip going from outside to inside the ship with the small wheels. You might need help from someone to lift the chair.

Thank you for your fast reply!! My DD and I always cruise together and she is "always" with me. She'd rather push than walk without pushing me/cart/ something. Between You and She, I'm convinced to take the wheelchair. She said if we come to a bump and get stuck she can always lift the WC but maybe not the Scooter. Thank you again for the speedy reply!

  7. Not only is it appropriate, he will be the most appropriately dressed person there! Honey, a dress uniform is accepted and appropriate everywhere, for all and any occasion! Expect a lot of people thank him for his service, shake his hand and salute him! Have a WONDERFUL Cruise!

  8. One thing that is very important. I just purchased a Scout 4 wheel Scooter. I have Neuropathy in my hands and feet, I cannot take my scooter apart. It's never been out of my living room (2 days) and I'm going to try to return it. Please try to take yours apart before purchasing it!!!

  9. https://www.facebook.com/944694975644955 is a CLOSED site. Some people might now know what to do here.

https://www.facebook.com/1166056503427062 is an OPEN site and it would be so much easier for everyone. Let's all go to the open site. I promise I won't interfere again. :) If we can get everyone together we can have much more fun. Someone, (NOT Me) can plan a Meet n Greet! Please forgive me!

  10. We chose to stay at the Galveston Hampton Inn and Suites on Central City Blvd. They do have a park and cruise price, which we did not use. I was able to obtain an upper floor facing east. From my window, (with the use of binoculars), I was able to see the Liberty coming in at 6 am in the morning. DH woke up at this time as well and suggested we hit the road. We drove to the end of Seawall Blvd to Fort San Jacinto and enjoyed the Liberty and the sunrise:

Naomi John, I really enjoyed your review! Did you stay at the Galveston Hampton Inn and Suites by the airport? If so, how long did it take you to drive to the ship? And most of all, in what condition was the hotel? This is where we are staying, if it's the same Galveston Hampton Inn. Thank you for your reply ... Deena Harris

  11. I have Fibro and have had for years. PLEASE DO rent a wheelchair. I say wheelchair because that way you will always be close to your husband and can always communicate with each other. Always use your WC down the L O N G halls or you'll be give out before you get to where you are going. You can always leave your WC parked and walk into the theater, Dining Room, or just shopping.

If you find yourself getting tired, take a nap. You are on vacation and you want to feel like it.

The hot tubs are not very hot, this is true, but the warm swirling water feels wonderful! Massages help a LOT too.

Contact the cruise ship and airports telling them you are handicapped and need WC assistance. Do NOT feel bad, this will help Hubby tremendously also. You can preorder your WH and it will be in your room when you get there. When you leave, just leave it in your room and they will come pick it up. Do not rely on Carnival to loan you one, they just don't have but a few and they use those daily. If I can be of any more help you can pm me at Deena4701@hotmail.com Enjoy your cruise to the fullest!

You, your Hubby and Fibro can all have a wonderful time on a cruise if you will just allow yourself to be "pampered" a bit.

  12. I pray for this couple's family, but I do have questions. I'm not morbid, however I am disabled and curious. If you get badly hurt or if you had a fatal accident while abroad, how strict is the government about a passport? Surely the family will have no problem with transporting the patient or body? BTW, before I get yelled at, I do have a Visa. But this is definitely something to be concerned about.
