  1. My DH and I love 1140 on the M class ships.  Very deep balcony, which is not easy to see up into from the sunset bar and we never had any problem with noise.  During day occasionally heard a little bit of the movie, but at night we mainly hear the guitarist at the sunset bar which was really lovely.

  2. We have sailed Aqua now a few times and love Blu - yes the 2 tops are close, but like dcac2 stated you can socialize "if you choose".  Very rarely have we socialized with the people seated next to us and even though the seating is close - the atmosphere is really nice and relaxed and intimate for my husband and I.

  3. My husband and I bought really nice ones (not the ones that you need a hole in) from Coach - they were at the outlet store on sale so very inexpensive.  We would not wear them once off the ship for safety reasons, but they are handy for walking around the ship as I do not carry a purse around with me on board.

  4. I will be following along as my daughter and father are going to be on your cruise as well.  This will be my father's first cruise ever.  My daughter has cruised before, but for both it will be first time to Alaska.  Unfortunately my daughter is currently has some mobility issues - a fx ankle with a couple of screws resulting in no weight bearing - but she'll have her knee scooter with her - so if you see a 30 something with a knee scooter and her grandfather - you tell her mom will be checking out your blog to travel along.

Summit as does other M-Class Ships has a great large T-Spa pool. Saltwater, warm with lots of circulation. Has steel pipes on the sides that form a Lounge to lay on with bubble action up through it.

Panama Canal is a great itinerary and Summit would be a great ship to do it on in my opinion.

We did our Panama Canal cruise on the Infinity - an M Class ship similar to the Summit and loved it.

We will be embarking on the Summit this weekend and I recently found out that I am pregnant! Morning sickness/nausea has kicked in and I've been living on ginger beer (an extra strong non-alcoholic ginger ale made with real ginger) and ginger tea. Does anyone know if any of the bars offer real ginger beer? Does Cafe al Bacio offer ginger tea or should I bring my own?

    Thanks!

Every time I have been on the cruise to Bermuda on the Summit they have had Ginger Beer - normally Goslings.  I do love my Dark and Stormy (s).

We were on the Millennium for 28 nights last fall in one of the aft Aqua staterooms with the oversized balconies.  We rarely heard any noise from above, and it was not an issue.

We have stayed a couple of times in the AFT cabins on deck 11 on the Summit and occasionnally heard the movie during the day if i sat outside - not enough to bother me.  At night I never heard anything from the movies.  We did enjoy hearing the entertainer that played at the Sunset Lounge area when we sat on the balcony at night.

  8.  Our favorite cabin is 1140 - middle one in the back of the ship.  noise from above has always been minimal - the long length of the balcony provides both shade and sun, and we enjoy the music at night coming from the oceanview bar.  Easy to also grab a drink from the bar and bring up to the balcony.  Everyone has reasons they love one room over another and for us its 1140 on the M Class ships.

Yes, there are a couple of interesting ones, they are adding Charleston also.   Leave Bayonne, Newport next day then an overnight in Charleston, then over to Bermuda, 10 days total.

MY DH just booked the May 9, 2020 cruise which includes Newport and overnight in Charleston and two overnights in Bermuda -- can not wait.

Thank you all for you experience with these cabins.   I booked the one in Dead Center (1140).    This is going to be an experiment for us.    We have never sailed in anything but suites.  Now that we finally hit Zenith and get all the perks and access to Michael's club thought it might be a good experiment.

We booked the 4 night Caribbean just before the Eastbound TA that we have booked.

We have booked 1140 on a few cruises (Summit) and just booked one on Infinity for 2020 - it is our favorite aft cabin.  Balcony is large (long) and there has always been two chairs, a table and one lounge chair on the balcony.  Has both shade and sun.  Noise from above is minimal and only heard during the day.  Also a nice place to listen to acoustic music from the Oceanview Bar below in the evenings.

  11. The only coffee drinks not covered under the classic package are those that contain alcohol. All other coffees are included in the classic package. I would wait till you got on board - sometimes depending on the sailing they have specials to upgrade drink packages when you get on board. My DH and I took a Bermuda cruise a few years ago on the Summit and we sailed out on Mothers Day - the upgrade from classic to premium was under $10 a day for both of us. Nice Mothers Day surprise.

  12. OK, thought I’d list out our normal dining times during a cruise:

    Early Breakfast

    Breakfast

Lunfast (munchies between Breakfast and Lunch)

    Lunch

Dunch (munchies between Lunch-Dinner but closer to Lunch)

Linnner (munchies between Lunch-Dinner but closer to Dinner)

    DInner

Latenner (munchies after Dinner but closer to Dinner and not THAT Late)

Midnitenner (munchies well after Dinner, usually just before midnight)

Midnight Snack (OK,finally worked it in!)

SneakSnack (Usually well after midnight, but can be really anytime during the day between the normal 10 dining times).

    Are you a Hobbit?

  13. I'd be interested to hear what you think of 1140 vs. 1138. I've never been in 1140, but we used to always be in the deck 7,8 or 9 concierge afts with the really deep balconies, and while I loved them, I like 1138 even better because of the angled glass - I think it gives a great panorama, less tunnel vision, even though it might not be as big.

My DH and I love 1140 - the deep balcony is great - there is usually two chairs a table and a lounge chair - view from the rail is spectacular. We enjoy hearing the music from the aft bar below in the evenings and if you are not in port during the day the side glass is opaque and you can not see through it - nice for a little al fresco sunbathing. ;););)clear.png?emoji-wink-1685

  14. When my daughter was 18 and just graduated from HS we took a Mediterranean cruise on the Millie. She did have a friend with her, but because it was the summer, there were plenty of young people around her age - they usually met up around the pool on sea days (in port we had extensive shore excursions - some of which her and her friend picked and went on by themselves) and after dinner later at night, went to the venue with dancing till the wee hours of the morning. Neither of them had any issues with being on a Celebrity ship (and the Millie isn't even an S class ship).

  15. We're aft cabin deck 7 so am hoping that this will not affect us ------ does not sound like us at all as we first booked with Celebrity rather than Princess as we hate the idea of the big screen thing ...

We have been in Aft cabins on Deck 11 on M Class ships with the movie screen just above us - has never really affected us and I can't imagine that it would affect deck 7 cabins. During the day we could hear the movie occasionally, but never a problem.
