  1. Just because you were fine doesn't mean overall that's common. Insurance companies see the whole picture and know how much it costs when complications happen, and how often complications happen.

And you didn't know you would be fine until it was over and done with.

Again - I said everyone is different and barring complications. It's not the insurance companies I was referencing but employers and what they opt to offer for coverage to employees.

I was confident I was in good hands and wouldn't have complications because I trusted my surgeon.

  2. I'm not sure if sleeve is much different than bypass, but you should still be on all liquid for the most part. Plus you are not going to feel like doing anything, much less travel across the country and get on a boat. You'll never leave your cabin. 1st month is hell, good luck.

Oh, and look into Isopure protein water as a alternate to shakes. 40G of protein in a 20 oz bottle. Drink one a day

I think that everyone is different - I had my surgery 6 days prior to 4th of July and was up and out at our city's 4th of July Celebration! The first month wasn't hell for me at all. The first day was. After that it was all about getting in my liquids and protein. I had energy and was up walking around etc. I was back at work remotely two days after surgery and physically a week after. It's a common misconception (and why a lot of employers elect for insurance that won't cover bariatric surgery) that recovery is months long. IF you follow your surgeons instructions you should be ok! (Barring any complications of course.)

  3. Let me start this by saying I am 4 months post lapband to RNY.

Two weeks after my surgery I was on pureed foods, if you are going to be on soft foods I can't see you having much of a problem. Bring your shakes, I was told by RCCL special needs that all shakes must be in original SEALED containers and non perishable. So if you have a favorite powder I would get sample packs, I am bringing some premier protein shakes so that I don't have to bring the powders. I am still drinking one shake a day!

They were also going to contact the ship to ask about greek yogurt though I don't think that's going to happen!

Overall, I would call special needs so they know you are sailing and I would also get notes from your doctor that it's ok to sail, along with any dietary restrictions you may have. The special needs department will notate your reservation as well.

I am VERY sensitive to fats with my pouch, so I have to be careful but there aren't many things I "can't have," I just have to be very careful and I know the signs when my pouch has had enough. You will too!

Go and enjoy yourself - be mindful of your choices and good luck with the surgery - mine has opened up things in life I never thought possible!!!

  4. Any dresses will do, but there are no SALES. Only postage.

thanks! I have some that I want to sell (those of course will be going on eBay) and I have some nice ones that I feel bad selling (I've worn them a few times and have gotten my $$ out of them) that I will be offering up here too - I just have to find the time to take pics!

    Thanks ladies!

  5. My daughter has had two (soon to be three) cruises where she's eligible for the teen program. I am sure it depends on your teen and how much they WANT to be with you... but, we have certain times she needs to hang with us and then the rest of the time it's her choice. If there's an activity she wants to do we adjust.

  6. As mentioned, Oasis has been running 50% off offers on night one and formal nights and sometimes port days for all specialty dining. As this is not combinable with other offers it can be wise to just book at any specialty restaurant just after embarkation.

On the Oasis TA, 150 was fully booked for all the nights where they were offering the 50% discount, but for those that booked the first couple of days of the sailing reservations were available.

The other thing to watch with 150 is that the wine pairing option is in addition to the fee for dining. Many think the $75 wine pairing includes the meal.

Anyone know if this is being offered on the Allure as well?

  7. Several years ago we were in Labadee... I stopped to pay for a piece of art. Took my camera out of my bag to get my money out and paid. In the 30-45 seconds it took me - my camera was GONE! I haven't seen it again. I didn't care so much about the camera as the memory card.

  8. It's going to be too late for everyone to wait until we get to the port area to eat and even though I've mentioned it to my mom, she does not want to do one of the restaurants that you've mentioned (I've tried several times). And with the boys, going somewhere unknown makes things harder, especially the younger one who tends to get downright nasty when he's overhungry.

I was hoping that there was somewhere along 528 between MCO and the port where I could get off and hit one of the chains. Is there nothing between those points other than fast food? It can be closer to the airport instead of the port area if that makes a difference.

There's really nothing between Orlando and the Port on 528... but there by the airport there are lots of things - Chili's etc. you could do that then head across to the port.

  9. But, if a family are sharing popcorn or sweets, its much easier to pass it across a row than all over the theatre! :D

Which you brought on board with you along with the other 1,000,000 snacks in your carry on along with the 45 cookies you just picked up at the promenade cafe.

People never cease to amaze me on ships.

I think next time I am going to drag my lounge chairs back to my cabin to make sure I have one for sea days! And bring stadium seat cushions to save rows during the shows too! :D

  10. Just about any place you go to is going to have the things you asked about in Cozumel. This big difference is just going to be the "extras" some places have at their place.

We have been to several places in Cozumel and I have done a complete review on all of them along with TONS of pictures in each review. If you look at my signature line under Cozumel, you are welcome to take a look at them. With all the pictures I have, you should be able to get a good feel for what several places are like and if they would fit what your family is looking for or not. :)

Your reviews are the ones that got me thinking towards the all inclusive. Which on them have wifi and which was your favorite? I would love wifi on the beach to keep an eye on the kids etc... but I think that's asking too much LOL

  11. Signed up for the character breakfast on the Freedom (free) but it's at 7:30am!

I just had a LONG discussion with my kids on which day they want to do this and if they want to do it... because they would rather stay up and do Adventure Ocean and sleep till 10 then get up early. They decided the last sea day would be best because they have to go to bed early that night anyway since we get off the ship the next morning.

  12. I have a husband who is NOT a big beach person - but with the mention of the AI's that Cozumel has to offer (unlimited food, drink etc) I may have him sold. Here's what I am looking for - which of the AI's is best for this and what is the taxi ride from the pier (arriving on RCCL) to each?

We are a family of 4 - Myself and husband along with two kids (8 & 12) who are not the super adventurous type.

    I am looking for -

    • Wifi (preferable on the beach so we can sit together as a family)
    • snorkeling
    • possible water toys or water park for kids
    • food
    • drinks
    • shade/umbrellas included

    Any ideas????
