  1. My daughter is going on the Olympia in a few days. I have a couple of questions.

Are washcloths provided in the bathroom? I saw one person say they were not.

Will your cell phone land service work on the ship? I can pick up a plan for my daughter from our provider that will work but I am curious as to whether it’s necessary.

  2. I wouldn't do it. The drive from the port to WDW is an hour or so. That seriously cuts into your time. The Food & Wine Festival is always busy and the World Showcase is opposite where you'll be dropped off. The price of an Epcot ticket is $99. I wouldn't fool with it for maybe 6 hours if you're lucky at Epcot.

  3. When we sailed on the Dream in 2011, I think they only had prepopped bags of popcorn. When we sailed on the Wonder in 2014, I only saw it sold in small bags for about 15 minutes outside the theatre.

I was assuming DCL didn't really want you eating popcorn for the cleanup factor.

  4. I'm a Coke purist and hate these machines. The plain old Coke tastes like a sad imitation from all the different syrups coming through the same nozzle. I found the can drinks to be flat too from the bar. I'll just skip soft drinks unless I can get it from a real fountain (a la DCL) or a bar fountain.

  5. Keep in mind that when you pay for your Disney cruise with your Disney Visa, you get 6 months no interest to pay it off.

You also earn rewards on all purchases, not just Disney purchases, and the rewards can go toward your trip. We used our rewards for onboard spending (because we use rewards more regularly for trips to WDW, we didn't have a lot).

  6. I've only cruised DCL and CCL. I found DCL ho-hum in the MDR where I want them to shine. There were plenty of tasty things for breakfast, lunch and snacks. Dinner tended to be bland and not as good as it sounded on the menu. Palo was another story. That was excellent, but I had to pay extra for it.

We just cruised CCL's Breeze. We really liked all of the meals and snacks on the Breeze. I have to give the edge to CCL. We didn't go to any for fee restaurants. Brunch was awesome, Guy's Burgers and Blue Iguana were great, and the pizza place was awesome. There were other free places that we didn't even get to. Dinner was always an adventure and we found lots of interesting things to try and were happy with the presentation and taste of all of them.

I don't know if all CCL food would compare since not all ships have the variety of the Breeze, but we were very happy and would sail the Breeze again in a minute.

  7. I think it was $189? Maybe $149. In any case, my husband was disappointed and went maybe twice. It was a let down after all we'd read about it. Check it out good before you spend the money. The thalassotherapy pool was a big hot tub.

The locker rooms were really small and not well furnished compared to Disney's ships.

  8. Yes, with the cheapest plan, you should be able to use FB and FB messenger to stay in touch with people back home. You can always just text IF you have Apple devices. It goes through iMessage.

To text each other on the ship, if you're not on the Breeze with the Hub Chat, each person will have to pay $5 per day or $25 for the length of cruise. So, a family of four who want to text onboard would spend $100 to do that.

  9. OP- are you saying you choose RCCL insurance because it doesn't cover pre-existing conditions? That would mean you would NOT have coverage for your conditions you listed.

Re: Berkley. There is a thread on this board where a traveler had a stroke on a cruise (I want to say in Europe). She was hospitalized outside of the U.S. and had to have a nurse accompany her on the flight home.

I think she eventually recovered all of her missed cruise costs and medical costs which she had had to pay upfront with credit cards. She was very worried that they wouldn't pay on everything because of the time it took to process her claim. She was eventually satisfied.

  10. There is a travel/cruise insurance board here which you might want to do some reading on for lots of information.

The consensus is that insurance through the cruise lines is expensive for what you get.

If you have health problems that cause you to need the chair, you might want to start reading up on pre-existing conditions and see if there is a way you could now purchase insurance with a pre-existing waiver. Usually that has to be purchased within a couple of weeks of the first payment on the cruise.
