We are Australian and just come back from a trip to China. Whilst we enjoyed the trip immensely, the pushing , shoving and rude behaviour we encountered was hard to take. In the end we learned to do some pushing and shoving of our own. If you are prepared to do this, you may enjoy it. If not, steer clear!

We always find a Starbucks, maccas, hungry jacks or similar on shore and call via Facebook messenger. This is the cheapest option.

So you feel that the four people who are included in the auto-gratuity or pre-paid gratuity do not serve you directly? Help me understand what you mean.

It is my decision and I do gratuities like this. You may do something different and that is your prerogative. No judgement from me!

You are not allowed to remove gratuities before the second last day. I prefer to give money to the people that serve me directly.

We have been on lots of Ncl ships and that’s how the prizes work. Get a signature on your activity card and redeem them on your second last day for prizes. Things like glass mugs, tshirts, pens, coozies, etc. The getaway just gives prizes.

We just got off the Getaway. We had to stay an extra night in St Petersburg as the tide was too low to sail. We missed Berlin and they gave us our port taxes back for Berlin.

I haven’t cruised with another cruise company for years. Having spoke to others, they are all discussing the same issue. Corners cut and watching the penny. I don’t think it is only NCL, it is cruise company wide as far as I can see.

The money is held by NCL and it is 50% of the price you paid for the cruise. It doesn’t show up on your NCL account, but if you have it, can be accessed by you via a TA or NCL. Happened to us in February this year.

Ours was a couple of years ago and we did the one you get when you are platinum. It included kitchen, laundry and theatre. Took about 1.5 hours.

We have just come off the NCL Getaway, we weren’t charged for sides but we were limited to $20 per main meal and 2 free sides. I would rather have the steak and pay for sides but we were not allowed.

They do it 1 hour at a time. There isn't a problem with the time difference.

Since you are travelling with your family, it would be a great opportunity to get some family pics. They have packages that are quite expensive so if you would loose your obc you could use it for that.:)
