  1. We will be on the POA on 4-21. For Kauai, we have booked a helicopter tour Thursday morning and a rental car to be picked up after the copter. Don't know where we are going yet, but it will be fun. We are not ones to vegge on a beach, but we will enjoy trying all the shave ice and donut places we have seen recommended. We will park the car at the airport Thursday evening and drive some more Friday morning.....unless we decide not to. The BudgetHawaii lady told me there is a parking lot at the pier, but she seems to be the only person in the world who knows about it. We will check it out but haven't seen it mentioned here so are doubting.

We are planning to take a helicopter ride with Blue Hawaiian and we want to rent a car directly following the ride. I called BH and they said that they could not drop us by the car rental place (Thrifty) even though its less than a mile from the Heliport. How are you handling your car rental after your helicopter ride? Not sure what to do. Thanks!

  2. If you are referring to Blue Hawaiian, they picked us up at the gate at the peir in a shuttle to their office and heliport near the airport. I believe there is a company with checkin at the mall, but it is not Blue Hawaiian, at least it wasn't in 2014. We booked direct with BH and they provided the free shuttle to and from. Sorry if this is not who you were inquiring about. I googled Blue helicopter and got nothing.

We are planning on taking the BH shuttle in Kauai to the Heliport for our helicopter ride. We want to pick up our rental car at Thrify after our ride. BH says they can only return us to the pier. Any ideas on how to get to the car rental place? Its less than a mile but it doesn't look like a road you can/should be walking along. Thank you!

  3. I was on the POA in April. Our first day on Maui was the Road to Hana. The second day we rented a car and drove to Lahaina. So you might be just where you need to be.....stay there and skip the car. We had no trouble driving from Kahului to Lahaina, but the return trip was very slow on a packed two-lane highway. You could spend your whole five hours sitting in traffic. And you need to see that Banyan Tree.

We will be in Maui in April 2019 on the POA and plan to drive a rental car to Lahaina on the 2nd day. Since the traffic is bad coming back to Kahului, will we have time to explore Lahaina? What time do we need to head back to the car rental facility/ship if ship sails at 6pm? Thanks!
