Update! We have a cruise coming up in the Fall and we'd booked an ocean view cabin. As it turns out ocean view prices have dropped dramatically! For us +$300. Note, it appears that balcony prices have gone up. So I called to have my Price Protection Guaranty credited and .... no problem! Such a deal!

Obviously the may cruises will be cancelled. I'm scheduled for may 17th and September 20th on the pride. I'm wondering if they would just move the funds from the may cruise and the obc to my september cruise. Maybe I could do a suite or something then?
They did it for us, but I've heard conflicting info about whether it's official policy. I'd be careful about upgrading because prices might be raised. We also have a cruise in Sept, but I suspect it too will be canceled. Good luck. -
Hey guys! I'm sorry haven't been on for a while. Good news! So I did as you're suppose to: I manually canceled our Apr 2 cruise and then completed the "transfer" form. I got no confirmation and no receipt, but I thought I'd just wait. I had said that I wanted the FCC to be applied to a cruise we booked that's suppose to sail in Sept and low and behold it was!!! After a month. I'm very pleased. The only problem is that our $300 OBC is not showing up yet, but I don't think that's a major problem. Now if we can just get past this pandemic we'll be good.
Thank you Carnival! -
So I just submitted a transfer form. It seemed to be accepted without error, but I don't believe it was processed automatically. My bet is that it goes to a person who then has to make the changes and that's going to take some time. I'll update when I get final confirmation.
You must cancel your "canceled" cruise first!

1. If you choose to take the FCC the $600 onboard credit (we had a 7 night cruise) only applies to NEW bookings.
Hmmm....That's not what the rep told me! I'll have to try it to see. I'll let people know the results. -

In order to use OBC for excursions they will need to be booked onboard. OBC is for purchases onboard, not prior to your cruise. You absolutely can use it for gratuities, just don’t pre pay them online before you sail.
Thank you for this information! When I talked to a Carnival rep online I verified that this is true. However, while researching it myself I found that it's not true for all cruise lines. Some lines will allow you to make purchases with an OBC before you're on the ship, but Carnival is not one of them.

SO! I finally got in touch in Carnival on the phone! And...I learned some important things:
1) If you've chosen either full refund or FCC (for a cruise that meets conditions) you still have to cancel your cruise (even if you know it's not sailing), before you can transfer the funds and FCC to another cruise. This can be done online or on the phone (see instructions above).
2) Most importantly I learned that it doesn't have to be a new cruise to transfer, it can be an existing future cruise! -
So I rebooked a new cruise and should get the $100 on board credit, but I have a question I hope someone can answer for me. I know you can use this credit for excursions, but what happens if you book and pay for those excursions now. Can you later use the credit to get refunded for them?! Or does it only apply to excursions you book while on the ship? Does anyone know if you can use this $300 credit to pay for gratuities?

I am 80yo, have multiple health issues, have TA. Cruise in June . Can I get my money back, not a future cruise credit? I am paid in full.
Maybe not. You'll have to wait to see how the virus goes. Carnival has only canceled like two weeks. We have another cruise booked in Oct. I expect it to go without issues.

But if I want a refund and not a reschedule do I have longer to cancel using the trip insurance
Carnival is offering me full refund or FCC +$300 on board credit. I''m going with the FCC.

So Carnival canceled for us! That was easier. Now the decision whether to get a full refund or a FCC and $300 on board credit.

You can ABSOLUTELY CAN cancel and re-book online, if you know what cruise you want to change to you would have to put a deposit down on that cruise.
Question: Can you apply your FCC to an existing booking which only has a deposit on it?

I tried to cancel online through the webpage. It looked like the cancellation went through but I never got any email or confirmation showing what my refund or cancellation charges would be. I need some kind of confirmation to show to my travel insurance company.
did anyone else receive confirmation?? I noticed the webpage messing upThat's scary and what I'm worried about. I don't like making any online transaction without getting a receipt. I wouldn't even know where to look for the credit on their website. The website was flaky yesterday morning, but it seemed better in the evening. I'm still trying to get through by phone. If I can't I think we'll just go. The main reason I want to cancel now is to be socially responsible, not so worried about the virus. The probability is that we'll most all get it eventually. However, it might be better to get it in Minnesota and not in the middle of the Caribbean.

You should have until 3/31 to cancel, according to the email I received yesterday. I was sent this info because I'm an agent. Hope it helps.
Wow. That's really helpful. Now I just need to actually be able to contact Carnival. 😐

I followed the directions above to cancel. It says penalty $XXXX but I also purchased the insurance. So do I get 100% back? There is no place for me to indicate the cancelation reason

I have travel insurance, but supposedly I shouldn't need it according to the first email I got from Carnival (and according to the chart dpomes posted).

Marley, the rep...
Thanks for your reply. Was Marley a rep whose extension you already had or just a random rep that answered your call?

Well, I finally got into the right location, but it tells me that there will be a $486.00 charge to cancel. This is not what they said in the first email I received. It said I could cancel for free and would receive a Future Cruise Credit. I'm beginning to get a little angry. How can they expect me to risk my health or take a ~$500 hit?

.you cant cancel and reschedule online. i wonder what will happen to my booking or money if i never talk to them
Exactly! Can you just kiss your money goodbye if you don't reach them and don't go on the cruse? We're paid in full.
Here's a link to the most recent email we're received from them (let me know if you can access it):

If anyone gets into their Cruise Manager after this morning and is able to access it would you let me know? Thanks.
Also, does anyone know if officially whether it's 48 hours or 30 days? -

They are both overloaded, keep trying, you have a little time, I would keep trying sporadically, maybe late in the evening online.
We haven't made a decision yet. I'm just confused by the conflicting info, 48 hours or 30 days.
Wow!!! Just got this headline notice, "Princess Cruises just suspended its operations for 2 months due to coronavirus"

Personal Vacation Planner, they are tied to Carnival, but ast as your travel agent for Carnival cruising.
But don't you have to access them through the Carnival phone number? That doesn't seem to be working currently.

They are explaining the charges, the 250 can be used as a future credit. In the future, uses a TA or PVP, they are the experts.
Thanks for the reply. What's "PVP?" -
"...give us a call now at 1-888-CARNIVAL."
Ha, ha, ha.

Missing Excursion?
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
Hi, I booked an excursion on Carnival that currently shows up in my "Booking & Order Details," but no longer shows in the Excursions page for that port. Does anyone have a clue why? Is it because it filled, was canceled, or some other reason? Thanks in advance.
