  1. I agree with coaster in regards to adding the purple slides.  I was talking with someone on one of the ships about this very thing  They told me that the purple slides are popular and Allure will get them.  I like the boardwalk nd the view without them.  Just my opinion

  2. I wish that I had read this thread before I booked the NCL air.  I told the NCL travel specialist that we were going on this cruise with our adult children as a Christmas gathering in March.  Kids are in NY, Mass, and Colorado. Told her that my son is a chef and that we wanted to cruise from New Orleans , fly in the day before and see the city and make reservations for a nice dinner.  Booked the free at sea promotion.  Realized that free excursion was only $50 off the first person on the booking.  This credit cannot be transferred to anyone else in the cabin.  Free internet is 150 minutes, free specialty dining in 2 people in the cabin only. Free air means that you may not fly together, 2 cabins are 2 separate bookings. We called after we booked to make sure that we were flying in the day before.  We were not. NCL did change that on our reservation because seats were not booked yet. We were assured that flights would most likely be in the morning, we would probably be together. We are not on the same flights.  3 of us are driving to the airport together.  Our flights are leaving within 45 minutes of each other but we land over an hour apart.  Coming back our flights are 3 hours apart and land 2 1/2 hours apart. 9:30 pm and 12 midnight.  Too bad so sad you should have read the terms and conditions of the sale.  I should have.  I was excited. I wish that our travel specialist had warned me to book flights myself based on the plans that I had told her about.  The sale is very misleading.

  3. Thank you for creating this post.  We have been loyal to Royal. We have been planning on trying other cruise lines and finally booked The Celebrity Constellation for May 25, 2023 Mediterranean. My husband is a creature of habit.  We booked a suite on this sailing.  Please share with me any tips, tricks or must Do's on our celebrity sailing.  I have been reading this thread. I love the big ships.  I like the shows, entertainment, dining options and  the comedians.  My husband prefers the smaller ships.  His favorite so far is Independence of the seas. For those of you that have traveled with Royal, is the check in the same?  Which Royal ship would you say is most comparable to the Constellation? I am not real fussy with food.  I love to try new things.  My husband is a very basic kind of guy.  Meat potatoes, hot dogs, burgers and pizza.  What do you suggest as far as dining?

  4. Thank you for doing this review.  We sail on Sunday Jan 9th.  It is hard to get excited before the negative covid test on Friday.  We are tired of the calls from family, friends and coworkers about the riskiness of covid on ships. We were on Oasis in October.  Yes wearing a mask on ship was different, we wished things were back to normal (the good old days).  Once we just accepted this is how it was, things were fine.  For our upcoming trip we are going to take it as it goes.  We are so looking forward to being back on Anthem and looking forward to cruising.  Thank you for your review.  A little reassurance that everything is going to be ok if you go with the flow.

Good choice to try the Portside BBQ. But remember it's not a free dinner. I had the brisket w/ mac& cheese as my one side. They give you three slices which was an ample portion but a little on the dry side. EVERYONE said the same thing. My price was 9.43 for that meal. You can order more sides. One man in my group got the ribs and chicken and three sides for 14.53. More than enough!! Wife got the combo pulled pork and " burnt ends" pulled pork and two sides, very tasty and plentiful. You wont go wrong with any choice there. No reservations required. One major disappointment was the Dog House from previous stop offs there. Dogs were not heated up properly, they didnt have relish and raw onions, only carmalized onions, bun was soggy. Skip that place if possible.

  6. My suggestion is if you see a good price at any time, just buy it and then check the black friday sales.  If you see a big savings, cancel what you have already purchased and repurchase on Black Friday.  I help out for Black Friday drink package deals last year and they did not come through.  No big savings.  This year is different so who knows. I purchased a drink package for December recently and the price was better than I had seen in a long time.

  7. Hi All,  I have cruised with Royal Carribean only.  I had a friend ask me for advice when booking her upcoming Norwegian Bliss cruise vacation. She wants recommendations as far as drink and dining packages.  Her fiancé enjoys simple meals.  The both drink alcohol.  I would consider them the adventurous types.  They will be cruising in April out of NY.  Destination to Florida, Bahamas, and NCL private island.  Please help.  All advice welcome. Excursions, perks,  what to buy, not to buy.  I advised her to join cruise critic.  I love these boards.  I have learned so much.  I checked out the Bliss online.  Just may need to try this ship for myself one day.

  8. Not sure if I am helping here but I'll share my experience.  We are booked on Oasis , May 2020.  I had a room booked for 3.  My son asked if he could bring a friend along.  I had to book them in a different room and Was "forced " to switch my ocean view balcony to an ocean view balcony for 2. I tried putting 3 in my husbands balcony rom but his was for only 2 people.  Only option was to change my room and book them in another room.  I was told that I could not keep the original balcony that I had booked for 3 people because it was for 3 not 2.

  9. We booked a land tour as well for Aug 2020.  From what I have read in some posts that meals are on your own and to pick up snacks to bring on bus etc.  I believe they serve food on train but I have not seen where meals are included.  I would be interested as well.  I see in my brochure where they give the names of the hotels but no mention of a meal being included. Hope I helped

  10. We have not cruised yet.  Sailing Aug 2020 Northbound on Radiance.  I booked the cruise and land tour through Royal.  I went to AAA and asked for an Alaska Catalog.  The catalog or brochure has explanations of each land tour.  My husband likes things all laid out so this worked for us.  We chose the 6A land tour which includes Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise, Alaska Native Heritage Center, Tundra Wilderness tour, Fairbanks City Tour, Riverboat discovery cruise, Rail between Denali and Fairbanks.  I liked the idea that transportation and hotels are all planned out.  It is just my husband and myself doing this cruise.  I think that even looking at a brochure would give you some ideas as to what you may want to search for if you planned on doing it on your own.  I don't think that Royal gives our the Alaska Brochures anymore but you could always call and ask. Hope this helps

  11. We booked an aft cabin on Radiance for Aug 2020 on the day the bookings open.  I watched and waited.  I hear that the aft balconies book up within one month of the itinerary opening up.  Not sure if that is true but definitely sounds accurate

  12. I have been told many times to book the day that the itinerary opens to get the cabin that you want.  The aft balconies sell out fast.  I was also told to do a land and sea cruise.  We booked a north bound in August 2020 followed by the land portion.  I picked up a book from AAA to help me choose the land portion that we liked.  I have also talked with the next cruise folks when on board to get as much information as I could.  Sometimes they have wonderful suggestions and flyers to take home to look at.
