  1. But the waiter that gets you that glass of water sees nothing of your cruise fare or grats. He's fetching and carrying your water for no extra reward.

I do that in my job, dont get a tip or "reward"

I do many things in my job that are not in my job description...because I'm there to work and it is the job that I have chosen to do. If there is a waiter walking around, if I want a glass of water I would kindly ask...I'm on holiday and they are at work!

  2. My wife drinks tap water the majority of the time. We never had a problem asking a waiter for this, sometimes on its own and sometimes with a drink order from myself.

We never felt guilty though as we paid the gratuities. As for saying that the waiters are only there for selling refreshments, how absolutely absurd. They are there, and get paid, to wait on you, hence the term 'waiter'. I haven't heard them being referred to as 'salesperson'.

I completely agree. It annoys me when certain professions supposedly 'deserve' tips. It is a job, why should a waiter get tipped but not a nurse when they save lives? We paid the automatic gratuities and will do this year, I would have no problem asking for water if I wanted it

  3. I only wondered as last year on our first cruise we were in the glass house. When then trying to get to the sailaway we had to queue for the lifts and many people were rude pushing in etc. we have to use lift as mum is wheelchair bound. With it being our first cruise we would have liked to see leaving southampton but no such luck, we were moving before we got to sailaway. I just wondered if we would have better chance of being there this time. Sorry if it all sounds bizarre...thats just me haha

  5. Hi all, wonder if you could help. We are still new to cruising and are booked for August in cabin R312 on Azura. It is a disabled inside cabin and I wonder if anyone has actually had this cabin or a cabin nearby...what is the motion like on this area?

Also if anyone has had an inside disabled cabin is it the same size as a balcony disabled cabin but of course without the balcony.

    Many thanks

  6. I've never seen anybody drinking cans of fizzy by the pool, but we do in our cabin. One can of Seven-Up Free, which I like, was £1.65 on Oceana recently.

Thankyou. Its not something we did last year but we are sailing for 31 nights and I think we might buy some in port for the cabin as sometimes i fancy something fizzy.

  7. Hello all, and thank you for the comments. I did notice Port Royal being somewhat critical, so decided to give my thread time to settle. I'm really looking forward to Sindhu and the Glass House as I've read some excellent reports. Also, having been on Ventura, I know that to avoid the 'scrum', the main pool area and the buffet at peak times are places to steer clear of, and anyway, I prefer the MDR for breakfast and lunch, and use the open deck away from the pools or my own balcony for some peace and quiet.

143 days to go. Cannot wait :)

I cant wait either Lynne :)

  8. Oh good, thank you for replying. I've booked for Sindhi. Will probably wait for Seventeen. Has anyone tried it? Is there an Italian restaurant on board?

One part of the buffet turns into an italian Trattoria in the evening. This is a lovely place to dine but gets busy so you need to be there before 6pm to queue. The first few will get seated, and the rest will get a bleeper for when your table is ready. Some meals on the menu are included in the price of cruise but you can pay a charge for some meals. For example I had the lasagne which was "free" But my mom had a seafood platter which was £9.99, and well worth it apparently.

Sindhu was beautiful too, and well worth the £15pp. The ambiance was lovely, so calm and peaceful, and great service.

We dined in the glass house for an evening meal. That was very nice. You pay per meal rather than a cover charge per person. Again service was good.

  10. Hi, thanks for your reply.

Yes, as we booked last year we have been guaranteed same cabin. The only problem we found with doing the muster was we missed the sailaway, as my mum is in a wheelchair so we needed to use the lift. Everybody pushed infront of us and we waited ages for the lift so didnt see anything of sailing off. With it being our first cruise this was something we really wanted to see. We just thought perhaps if we dont need to do it the second time, we could be seated for sailaway.

When are you thinking of doing the back to back?

  11. Hi all, booked on Azura for a back to back cruise...never done this before and have a question...it may seem silly, but do we have to attend the muster at the beginning of the second cruise as well as the first?

And with it being our second only cruise, tips in general would be welcome. We were on Azura before so know ship in general
