  1. He was the captain on our Christmas week sailing on the Royal. He was wonderful and kept us informed about everything. He told us about the rough seas, rainstorms coming up, etc.

He spoke so nicely at the Captain's Circle reception. We loved his Italian accent, too!

  2. We sent these free e-cards to friends and family. It was fun--we could pick the picture to be displayed on one side of the card and then type our message. The only glitch was that some of the ecards went to recipients' spam folders. It isn't a Princess thing, but know that your ecard might not be read unless the person knows to look out for it.

We used the wi-fi to access the Patter throughout our days on the ship. It was fast and free. It seems like people are confused about this free "intranet" access and the paid "internet" access.

  3. We just returned from a Caribbean Cruise on the Royal. The retreat was our favorite place to hang out--we had over 800 kids on our cruise, so it was nice to get away from them sometimes! On our sea days, all the loungers were reserved with people or towels by 7:45 AM! Early bird gets the worm, I suppose.

There are six cabanas around the pool that can be reserved for the 1/2 day or full day, for a price. Then there's an open area behind that, and around the rails of the deck, there is some sort of canvas shade hooked up. Those were our favorites. It was very windy in the Retreat area! Oh, and there are two hot tubs and a bar right there.

  4. We just got back from the Christmas week cruise and also got the warning about the mosquitos on the French side. We had booked an excursion to Orient Beach, and we didn't see one mosquito. It was fairly windy at the beach, which is what kept them away, I think. We didn't even take bug spray with us, and we were fine.
