My family and I will be going on our first Mediterranean cruise in August. One of our stops is Palermo. The cruise offers a 'coarh transfer" to Mondello. How easy is it to just get a cab and go to the beach?

On our last MSC cruise one of my checked bags was flagged and I had to go claim it. They said it was probably because of my straightener. I mad a sad/annoyed face and got my bag (and straightener) bac without a problem.
PS: straighteners are great for tough up ironing in a pinch.

Has anyone ever switched from fantastica to aurea? I usually book fantastica with late dining which is what I did for our next cruise on the Grandiosa. I realized that means dinner at 9:30 which is too late. I don't want to switch to early dining because with my luck I'll be assigned 5:30. I want to switch to aurea so we can have any time dining.

Well.....it's only for one day! 😉. No need for an entirely new wardrobe. (Unless you want one, of course...)
There's always a need to shop for new clothes!!

La Goulette is a more cosmopolitan place than other cities in Tunisia (with the exception of resorts such as Sousse). Still, when I traveled in Tunisia a few years ago (pre-Covid), we were advised to avoid low-cut blouses or tops, shorts, and anything that shows your shoulders. Most of the group I was with felt comfortable with pants, cropped pants or skirts that fully covered the knee. I would not go any shorter than a 3/4 sleeve shirt, based on what I saw and experienced. Gauzy cotton blouses and tunics work well.
It's likely no one would bother you if you dressed less modestly, but you might get stared at by a few, which can feel uncomfortable. If you're going to be on a tour, you should be free from any unwelcome attention -- though a teenage daughter might attract some comments; however, these are usually part of the marketplace banter "for tourists" and aren't really meant to be taken seriously.... they aren't really trying to trade you 100 camels for your daughter! 🤣
If visiting a mosque, bring a lightweight scarf to cover your head.
You pretty much ruled out all of my cruise clothes! Luckily I have about 9 months to shop. Thanks for your response.

My family and I will be in La Goulette on a cruise stop in a few months. I was hoping someone has recommendations for what clothes we , specifically my teenage daughter and I, should wear while in port and on tours. Thanks!

Thanks for the response! I looked at the Holiday Inn, but it only has a full bed with a sofa bed (which are usually full or twin beds) which would not work for our family and we would need two rooms. We aren't obese, but we are not tiny people. My husband is 6'1/200 lbs, I am 5'8/170 lbs and my sons are large for children--one about 4'11/105 lbs and the other 5 ft/70 lbs. (All the men on my side of the family are 6'3 to 6'7 and I think my boys are following suit.) Plus, no one wants to sleep with my older son because he flails about in his sleep and is super skinny so a jab from his elbow or knee REALLY hurts. We really need 4 twins/fulls or 3 beds with at least one of them being a queen or king. I ended up reserving a hotel on booking.com that had a queen bed and two sofa beds. It was $1500 for three nights, but that was honestly among the cheaper places I found. Most of the Air BNB I saw that were central with 3-4 beds were running $400-600 per night. A lot of the cheaper ones seemed to have the full bed plus sofa bed combo which would not put us sleeping comfortably.
I laughed when I read your description of your son. It totally describes my 12 year old son. I read it to my husband and he actually asked if it was my post.
I have two hotels booked for 2 nights prior to our August cruise. First is Petit Palace Boqueria Garden. It has family rooms with bunk beds. It seems to be far from touristy areas thought so I'll most likely cancel it. Second is Condes de Barcelona. This seems more centrally located but I needed to book 2 rooms for the four of us.

We're driving to Ft Lauderdale a few days before our August cruise. We've been to Florida many times but have never had time to go to a beach. Does anyone have any recommendations for a family friendly beach in the area? Thanks!

Beach
in Costa Maya
Can you use the beach at the cruise port? I can't find any into on this. I know there are local beaches we can take a taxi to but my kids aren't really into sitting on a beach all day. I'm just hoping for an hour or so.

I'll be sailing on the Dream in August. My family and I will fly down a few days before the cruise and I'm looking for a hotel close to the port. Thanks for all suggestions.

We stayed at Homewood Suites Blue Lagoon in February for 2 nights. We had a separate bedroom with 2 beds plus a roll away and sofa bed in the livingroom. The hotel is across the highway from the airport. We had a car but I remember seeing a shuttle. I always check TripAdvisor before booking a hotel and it got very good reviews.

Just enter your starting and ending locations and it will provide pricing for Uber, Lyft, taxis, and any other service in the area.
Cost from my downtown hotel to the Carnival Terminal via Uber is showing $6.19.
Thanks for posting that link. I'm also trying to figure out the best was from our hotel (Hampton Inn Miami Brickell) to the port. Uber looks like the cheapest.

I just booked the Hampton Inn for the same date! I also tried for the Holiday Inn due to it's close proximity to Bayside.
Palermo beach
in Italy Ports
Posted
I've quickly googled getting to the beach but I thought someone with first hand experience would be helpful. As far as I can see, the cruise transfer pretty much drops off in Palermo which gives the option of exploring or going to the beach.
We'll also be in Genoa, Naples and Marseilli. Would you recommend the beach any of those ports?
