  1. On the deck plans, cabins 9250 and 9252 are shown as holding 5 passengers.  When my travel agent tried to reserve them for me, RC told him that they only held 3 or 4 passengers, unless one of the passengers could sleep in a crib.  Has anyone stayed in either of those cabins and could tell me what bedding is in them?  I would really appreciate any knowledge anyone could share.  Trying to make reservations for my family of 12.  Thank you!

  2. Does the POA offer luggage service to take luggage from the ship to the airport at disembarkation? If not, is there a service not affiliated with the cruise line that would do that?

  3. If you are not getting a response when you use the "contact us" form on the website, see if there is an email address that you can use to email them directly. I have had several tour operators tell me that those contact forms on their websites don't always work well. I have had some tour guides/operators not respond to messages using those forms and respond very quickly when I used their direct email, so it seems to be accurate. I am leery of using those forms now, and would rather just email directly. You can usually find a direct email address on the guide's website.

  4. Agree about kids missing on school but the savings trumped that for me :D

Retired teacher here. Sorry, but education always trumps convenience/saving money. There are plenty of school holidays when children can be taken on trips.

And "homework" packets are not a substitute for being in the classroom.

    Just my opinion.

  5. We will be on the POA in February. The itinerary says that we will be cruising past the Na Pali coastline after we leave Kauai. How long does that last? I don't want to plan dinner too early and miss some of the beautiful scenery.

Same question for cruising past some of the active lava flows. I am guessing that is after we leave Hilo, correct? About what time would I want to be on my balcony or on deck watching?

    Thank you.

  6. I understand Norwegian is now calling its "formal night" Norwegian's Night Out. Can anyone tell me what day of the cruise it is scheduled? How dressy do people get for that night? I would love to have all of us dressed up, but don't want to feel overdressed or out of place,

    Thank you!

  7. I booked 8075, 8077, 8079, and 8081 on the Oosterdam for a cruise in 2017. We will be traveling with our children and very young grandchildren. Will there be noise from the Lido above us? Would really like to hear from anyone who has stayed in those cabins. Any other comments on those cabins would be welcome as well. Thank you!

  8. We will be on the POA with our children and six young grandchildren for our first visit to Hawaii. How long does a luau usually last? Some that I read about had comedians in addition to dancing, which doesn't sound appropriate for young children to me. Any suggestions for a child-friendly luau?

  9. We've taken our grandchildren with us on HAL from the age of six months on. (Their parents were with us. :)) We have always had good experiences. The waiters have been great at getting their food out quickly. We have always found a place for the kids to play a bit, without being in anyone's way or disturbing anyone. We do, however, spend port time off the ship and most often on private tours so we can adjust as needed. So, aside from sea days we aren't on the ship for long stretches. We frequently have breakfast delivered to the rooms when we need to get off the ship early for a tour. It's nice to be able to get a hot breakfast delivered to the room.

I wouldn't be worried about giving HAL a try.

  10. In regard to the onboard flight check-in and luggage transfer to the airport, below is the response I received from the company that will actually be handling the process. Not sure who to believe.

"Hello Kathryn, how are you? Yes the service will be available in July on the Eurodam. Please be advice that on some occasion’s service will not be offered due to any changes in itinerary and or security changes. Information will be sent to your stateroom first two days of your cruise. The cost onboard is $29.95 a person. If you participate onboard when the service is offered, we will not charge you for overweight or checked airline baggage fees when going home. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  11. The one port in which I would only consider doing a tour is St. Petersburg. We did a private tour and it was wonderful, but very full days. I don't think I would want to try to do St. Petersburg on our own; and then there is the visa issue.

We did Tallinn, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Warnemunde on our own. There are a number of walking tours available online if you enjoy those.

    It was an outstanding itinerary!

  12. On one of the other threads there is information that this service will be available on the Eurodam when we complete our voyage this summer in Copenhagen. The cost will be $29.95 per person. We are flying SAS, but I don't know about other airlines. We also feel the cost is a wash because it will enable us to take the train to the airport rather than a taxi, or two, if we can't fit the luggage into one. We won't have to deal with those big, heavy bags until we get to Chicago!

  13. We have to decide which castle we want to see from Invergordon -- Eilean Donan, Cawdor, or Dunrobin. We don't have time to visit more than one. Our tour guide is suggesting Dunrobin because of the falconry display. I would like to get suggestions or opinions from anyone who has visited those castles. We are traveling with young children, if that would make a difference.

    Thank you!
