I love Navigator and I'm sailing on her in Feb. Super excited.
Wait is the Feb 24th sailing the first one out of dry dock? What are the chances of things being delayed?
I was wondering the same. We’re on that sailing too!

New cabins on deck 11 forward hear all the people running on jogging track. Great cabins on 7 forward big balconies. Just got back
OntarioCruiser
We just returned from a deck 11 room too. Definitely can hear the joggers, mostly early in the morning. But we were normally up early anyway, so it wasn’t too bad.

Hey Kzam - what times were the shows in the evening? thanks
The main shows were usually around 6-6:30 and 9-9:30 for each dinner seating. But of course they had the late night comedy and Love & Marriage gameshow, which we’re always 10:30 or later. This was the first RCI Cruise I’ve done that didn’t have The Quest though! We were disappointed!

I was just on the Jan 21-28 Jewel sailing! Let me know if you have any questions I can (try) and answer for you!

I'm interested to see how Jewel handles the muster with the late departure. I know that Adventure has two musters, one at 5:30pm and the other just before departure. Adventure also pushes back traditional dining by 30 minutes on the first night. Curious how Jewel handles this.
I just got off Jewel yesterday, and muster was at 5:30PM. Dinner times (6 and 8:30) were pushed back 30 minutes.

Hi there! Thanks for this thread. I booked sort of last minute while on the Anthem last month for Christmas.
This is my first time on this class of ship, and first time doing the San Juan/Southern Caribbean itinerary.
I was wondering about Embarkation the first day. What time would you suggest boarding?

This will be my 4th time leaving from San Juan, and we normally arrive just before noon. There’s usually a line, but it moves fast. Once we’re onboard, we grab a bite at the Windjammer, and explore a bit, and by that time, cabins are usually ready. :)

Thanks everyone! I thought I remembered them running “specials” throughout the week, but I never truly paid attention.
These are the answers I needed! :)

We’re going on the Jewel in a little over 2 weeks, and the ladies in our group want to book spa appts. I’ve been on many cruises, but this will be my first time enjoying the spa!My question is, is it really cheaper to book them now online? My sister is very adamant about getting them booked now, because of it being cheaper, but I don’t want to book now when we have no idea what our days will look like.
I know I’ve seen them run specials on the ship, so it may be alright to wait. But, just wanted to check here and see if anyone with some experience can give me some guidance. :D

We’re sailing this itinerary on the 21st. I will do my best to remember to take pics of them for you!

Great thread. We are sailing on Jewel 1/21 from San Juan flying in day of staying out on Condado at the AC afterwards and flying home Monday since Delta nixed our Sunday flight. Excited and a little nervous to try RC again, we did Grandeur several years ago (post fire) and it was ok but have been sailing on Celebrity a few years now .Think Jewel may be a good ship to get a good experience on RC again.
I dont see a lot of talk about the Spa or Thermal suites on Jewel? Is it b/c the itineraries are so port intensive they dont get used alot? Or are they sub par?
See you on the Jewel! We’re on ththe 1/21 sailing also. Don’t know a whole lot about the ship, but I’ve been hearing good things!
I’ve been on Serenade twice, which is a very similar ship, and loved it. So I’m sure Jewel will be no different!

Hey all!
We’re headed on Jewel in January with 2 other couples, one which will be celebrating their 10 year anniversary and another friend will be celebrating a birthday while on board.
Would the waiters do anything fun for them at dinner on their special days? And if so, does anyone know how we would go about setting it up?
Thanks for any info!

We normally cruise with just adults, but took our kids along this past Winter for the first time. They were 5 and 8 though, so a bit older than yours!
My 8 year old was adamant that he did NOT want to go to Adventure Ocean. But, that changed after he tried it once and after that, I think he would have preferred Adventure Ocean over hanging out with Mom & Dad the entire rest of the trip! They are amazing! Don't be hesitant to take your kids there.
As far as ships, we were on Freedom of the Seas and booked a Junior Suite for the exact reasons you're thinking. The tub was amazing, and the balcony was HUGE. And there was a lock. I could barely get the dang door open.
There was tons for my kids to do. (although, like I said, they're older than yours) Rock Climbing, Flowrider, mini golf, dance parties with Dreamworks characters in the Promenade, movies, a kids pool area...and the list could go on!
We did a 6 nighter out of Florida, and that was perfect for us. I mean, I could go on a 2 weeker, buuuut with my kids, 6 nights was enough.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks for starting this thread!
Sailing RCL for the first time on the Jewel 4/15/18. We booked one of the newly added 11th deck balconies. Love sailing out of San Juan bc of the amazing itineraries.

We're in one of those cabins at the end of January! Can't wait to see them. :)
Glad to see a post about this ship! I love the Radiance class ships. I've been on Serenade and Brilliance, but this will be my first time on Jewel!

Anyone on here stayed in the "new" deck 11 cabins on the Jewel?
My husband & I, and 2 other couples have side by side rooms reserved, and were told that you're able to open up the balcony partitions. Just wanted to see if we were told the right info.
But, either way, I've been hearing that they're awesome cabins!
-
Our kids, who will be 8 & 5 at the time, will be along, so the tub alone may be worth the extra $300! And I have a hard time turning down a bigger bathroom. ;) Thanks for all the input so far everyone!

Ok, here's the story. I booked an aft balcony (cabin 1400) which I'm reading is basically the size of a JS with an extra large balcony, on Freedom for our family this winter. Got a really good deal with the 1-2-FREE sale. But, now I found an aft junior suite, just a couple doors down on deck 10 for less than $300 more. Would I be crazy not to switch rooms? I've never had a JS before, so I'm not 100% sure what the extra perks are. Help!!
-
I am so glad I waited for this sale! Base prices definitely went up, but I still saved about $600. $2300 for an extra large aft balcony (cabin 1400) on Freedom for a family of 4...not too shabby!
-
Yes, unfortunately knowledge of any upcoming promo is only 1/2 the equation. The other 1/2 is what they do to the base price moments before the promo starts.
If I had to guess, I would say they adjust all base pricing in a manner that makes the total price very very close to what it is today. ;)
Agreed, but at least I can tell my husband (who is always hesitant to book a big vacation) that the kids were free, I couldn't help but book! ;)
-
Just divide the number of free days by the total days and it will give you the % off the normal fare.
Here is what the discount looks like for cruise up to 14 days long:
3 Night 33.3%
4 Night 25.0%
5 Night 20.0%
6 Night 33.3%
7 Night 28.6%
8 Night 25.0%
9 Night 33.3%
10 Night 30.0%
11 Night 27.3%
12 Night 33.3%
13 Night 30.8%
14 Night 28.6%
So basically very similar to the 60% off 2nd passenger sale that is currently going on as that equates to 30% off.
A couple of notes though:
1. This all depends on what they do with the base prices later tonight (early in the morning)
2. If you are booking with 2 kids under 12 then the upcoming sale MAY be a much better deal
3. If you are booking a 4 or 5 night cruise you may be better off booking before this sale starts. (again, this may not be the case if they lower the base prices of those cruises)
Bottom line is that the only true way to compare these sales against each other (or your current booking) is to look at the total overall price of the cruise. (mock bookings are your friend)
Thanks for the info! It looks like I figured it out right, so now all I have to do is keep my fingers crossed that they don't hike up the prices between now and tomorrow!
-
I am looking at cabin 1400 on the Feb 26-Mar 4 Freedom cruise for my husband and 2 kids. (They'll be 8 & 5 at the time of sailing) So glad to hear you loved it! Just hope it doesn't get snatched up before the new sale hits tomorrow!
-
Well, I'm glad I saw this. I was just getting ready to book at 6 nighter on Freedom with our two kids. (Sorry for those who don't like to be bombarded with kids on your cruise, I'm usually the same! :p) My kids are both under 12, and I'm looking at the Feb 26-Mar 4 sailing, so it would fit all the criteria for the discounts...but its so hard to know if this or the 60% BOGO is better!
Edited to say
Base fare is $1369...divide that by 6, and its approx. $228 per day x 2 days free = $456 off per person
$1369-$456 = $913 per person, plus free kids and it's $1369 per person with the BOGO plus $499 for each kid, and $423.60 total taxes & fees for the 4 of us
So if they don't hike the rates up, with the new sale, the total price would be $2249.60 compared to the current BOGO price of $2937.60
Did I do that right? It seems too good to be true. LOL

Yes, I got one tonight as well for our sailing out of San Juan on Saturday. We're going to St Thomas, St Croix, Antigua, St Lucia & Grenada.

Def can't wait to get on board-I miss her :D
And I can't wait to meet her for the first time! ;)
