  1. Booked an A1 February 10, 2019, on the starboard side. Looks to be far enough away from the Magic Carpet to not have any obstruction. I will look forward to watching the Magic Carpet from my balcony, actually.

  2. I actually just got off the phone with Celebrity with this very question. I asked, why was I being asked for my charge card while purchasing, in advance, excursions, specialty restaurants, etc...when I had a sizable OBC awaiting us when we arrived on board. What the Celebrity representative on the phone said to me was that OBC was available at the time of when our cruise started, and that any advance purchase of excursions, specialty restaurants, would be charged to our credit card, not our OBC. These advanced purchases would not be transfered to our OBC but bill to our credit card.

I specifically said to the agent "So, if I understand what you're telling me, is that I shouldn't book excursions or specialty restaurants in advance if I want to use my OBC in lieu of a credit card now". To which she answered "yes".

So, I recommend asking a celebrity representative directly. We will wait until our cruise starts before trying to book a restaurant (we've had good luck with this in the past), and for excursions, we've mostly used outside service agencies. I have no fear that we'll be able to utilize our entire OBC.

  3. We've booked our first South American experience with Celebrity (Infinity, Jan. 31) for Celebrity's first "Rio Carnival" itinerary. We start at Buenos Aires and sail up to Rio where we'll dock for three days during Carnival. Does anyone have any experience with Buenos Aires or Rio and could offer tips or excursion ideas? Many thanks.

  4. RE:"Do you ever get down to S. FL for vacation?"

Funny you should mention it, both us have family who have Winter homes in the Ft. Myers area and who are always asking us to visit. We really need to take them up on it one of these days.

We're arriving in San Juan two days prior to the cruise. Given your experience in vacationing, can you recommend some activities in addition to Old San Juan that are "you really should see/do this..." type activities?

    Many, many thanks,

    Brad (& Jeff)
