Thank you Studiomom! we will be in Belize and snorkeling then, but was curious about Mr Sanchos snorkeling. Where are your pictures from?
-
nice pictures! Thanks
-
nice video. Thanks!
-
Nope - that is the Money Bar.
Any beach with sand and waves will offer poor snorkeling; the waves and sand cloud the water and without rocks and reefs there is no place for the little fish to thrive.
If you want to snorkel from the shore you could take an excursion, hit the Money Bar and then taxi to Mr. Sanchos, or maybe go to Chankanaab where there is a nice beach and a separate snorkel lagoon (and a $20 admission fee :()
Thanks. we are going snorkeling in Belize at Goff's Cay. In Cozumel, we are going to Mr Sanchos, so I thought why not snorkel there? I did not know that snorkeling is bad where there is sand and waves.

Thank you. Is that picture of Mr. Sanchos where people snorkel?

Has anyone gone snorkeling at Mr. Sanchos? I will be going in August with my 4 kids age 9-15. I'd appreciate any opinions. Thank you.

Average day time highs can be in the low 90s. A bit humid too as this is in the middle of their rainy season. Probably 1/2 the days in august see rain most of the day and you're likely to get brief showers in the afternoons. Also chance of tropical storms and hurricanes. But if you're hydrated (bring water) and in A/C transportation to and fro, think of it as just being outside part of the day in the summer at home. It's not that much cooler at the beach, BTW. So your only respite is to stay inside your cabin all day.[/QUOTe
Thanks! can't be too bad

I am going with my family in August to Chaccoben. I'm starting to think it will be unbearably hot. I have 4 kids ages 9-15. Maybe a beach excursion would be better? I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Thank you all for your opinions! still don't know what I want, but maybe we'd end up at our own table anyway because we are already 5 people. I could request to be with others, like someone said.

When we travel as a couple, we enjoy traditional dining at a large table - having a group you rendez-vous with each evening has always been part of the enjoyment. The fact that everyone else at the table enjoys the same approach makes it very likely that the group will be compatible - people who do not like that arrangement will select a table for two or anytime - no problem.
Of course, a family group travelling together is different - five or so in one group would dominate the table, making it less welcoming to singles or couples - so we would select our own table in that case.
we are a party of five, so do you know if carnival has tables bigger than 8? I sure wouldn't to dominate the table.

Easy decision for me -- Carnival Sunshine.
- 5 days is too short
- Prefer newer ship
- Sunshine will have all the new toys
- Gotta have Guys, Blue Iguana, etc.
- More balcony cabin choices
BTW, don't expect price to drop on Sunshine any time soon.
I was wondering why do you think the Sunshine won't have price drops soon? I will be going on it 8/16. I haven't seen any drops. I check frequently. I did notice though, people going a week or a month a so before their cruise, that is when they get their price drops. Thank you.

Thank you. It's good to hear what other people think about dining on a cruise with others
-
Thank you for your quick replies!

several of the people on my upcoming cruise struggled with this. what about Goff's Caye (snorkeling, beach) or eco park (horseback riding, bike riding, kayaking) or you can just hang out at the park

I would like to know people's opinion about dining. Do you enjoy dining alone, with your family/friends or with strangers? I know many people like to meet new people and eating dinner is an enjoyable way for some of you to do that. I am a quiet person, who doesn't talk an awful lot. I am going on my first cruise in August - Carnival Sunshine. Do you eat with the same people each night or are you assigned with different folks each night? I will be with my 4 kids 9-15. Starting to think it might be good for me to get out of my comfort zone. Thank you. I would appreciate anything you have to say.

Thank You.
I just returned home from another cruise yesterday. You can't see the pics because I need to upgrade my account on Photobucket to get more photo storage. Once I do that you'll be able to see the pics.
I will also be working on another photo review from our cruise on the Dream that I just returned home from
I'm looking forward to it, Brianna!

Thank-you for reading my review. Not sure what you would consider early AM but this was around 10:00 am. We had went to breakfast in the MDR and then after breakfast we headed up to the Sports Square area. I was surprised as well that there weren't more people up there.
These pictures were taken on our last day at sea
I thought it would have been earlier in the AM. I would want to take advantage of the quiet, such a beautiful looking day and so peaceful.

hey Wrigley, do you know around what time these pictures were taken? early AM, I'm guessing. It's so quiet. I'm going on the Sunshine in August. Thanks for your review. I loved reading, looking at the pictures of all your adventures with you and your Dad. Have a wonderful time on the Dream. My sister and her family were on it in February and loved it!

Havinsnest - enjoying your review!

The $50.00 charge was for any incidental charges, if we broke something, if we smoked in the room, if we used the telephone in the room.
First off who uses the phone in he room anymore and second I don't smoke. It was the way that I was spoken to. No one deserves to be that rude to someone especially when you are coming in to their business. The comment he made to me about not having any money to go on vacation....that was OUT OF LINE.
Do you want a link to my review from the Carnival Sunshine photo review?? I will post it on here
I called them. It's silly to put money onn like that. They do have people's credit card if there's a problem. We are now staying at The Hampton Inn. It is getting great reviews on trip advisor. I am also thinking of going to Daytona Beach, which I'll need an extra day for. We are alreday going to Kennedy Space Center. Thanks for your review and for inspiring me to do more on my vacation!

Here is the link to my Carnival Sunshine photo review....
Thank you so much!

Which LaQuinta are you referring to?? There are two in Cocoa Beach....an oceanfront hotel and then another one further down on Atlantic Avenue. I had a pre-cruise stay at the LaQuinta that was further down on Atlantic Ave in December 2012. I had pre-paid for the hotel but when I arrived they wanted $50.00 cash or credit card for any charges.
The man working the front desk was extremely rude when I said I wasn't going to pay an additional $50.00. He told me that if I can't afford to pay the $50.00 then I shouldn't be going on a vacation.
I was furious....I will NEVER stay at a LaQuinta again. When I returned home I called LaQuinta Customer Service and they were just as rude.
We ended up going down the street and saying at the Comfort Inn. It was a wonderful hotel and they people were very friendly.
Do yourself a HUGE FAVOR and don't book with LaQuinta
I'm thinking of staying at La Quinta Atlantic Ave in August pre-cruise. What is the $50 for? In case something breaks? I've never heard of such a thing at a hotel. I read the reviews on trip advisor for the Comfort Inn atlantic ave. Many of them are not good. I always like Comfort Inns. A lot of people thought they were dirty. I don't know. maybe they are just clean freaks?
Also, I just want to tell you I saw your pictures from the Sunshine. I am going on that ship in August. I was looking for your review. Alot of people talked about it. Is the review a photo review, and I saw it already and I don't know it? I'm so glad I came across this post, cause I am already booked at La Quinta.:o

:)Hi Everyone! I am a first time cruiser. I am thinking of going on Carnival Sunshine August 16th with my 4 kids. Has anyone been on it lately? I've heard some news about mechanical/plumbing issues, and am thinking that maybe some of the kinks by now have been worked out? And, do you really think it is overcrowded? It looks like lots of fun for the kids. My kids are 8, 10, 13, and 15.
Also, I am on a budget, and am wondering if 5 person rooms are too tight. We are thinking of getting 2 adjoining cabins on deck 6, 7, or 8. Or, 2 rooms close to each other. I know those rooms are on the lower decks. In general, are the lower decks less desirable than higher ones? Can you hear engine noise when you are that low? Thanks! Any information would be greatly appreciated!
