  1. Thanks for the informative video and the info from others.  I will be elite after my cruise that leaves next Sunday on the Regal.  I forgot that after I'm elite we will get the free minibar setup.  We don't drink alcohol but trading out for some other stuff will be nice.  I want to check out the IC offerings next week to see if I would like to trade for the coffee card.  I don't drink coffee but I do like a good chai tea latte.  I will try some while we are onboard next week.  I'm SO ready to leave this cold, snowy Midwest weather for a lovely warm Caribbean cruise.

  2. I have been keto on and off for over two years.  With the ups and downs I am still down 20 lbs.  I just booked a cruise for next January and my 45th (!) class reunion is this summer.  So I have good reasons to be more conscientious with my keto eating.  Today is my start day.  I've done so much reading and youtube watching about keto that I think I know what to do and how to make it work for me.

My main goal is to get off my cholesterol and high blood pressure meds.  My goal weight is 30 pounds down from where I am now.  I think I will contact my doctor when I lose the next 10 and see if she can start weaning me off these drugs.

Congratulations to all you keto/LCHF people.  I believe we are eating for health now instead of to feed our sugar/carb addictions.

My last cruise I ate bread once, had dessert every night and after two weeks at sea had only gained 2 pounds.  That will be my goal for the next cruise as well.  I don't like alcohol so that is probably a big help.

Keep the posts coming and Keto On!

  3. I used ez air on my January cruises. By checking with Princess online I got fare drops twice. It was very flexible. I was even able to fly to the cruise into FLL and got a good deal flying home from PBI. It was no problem with ez air.

  4. "Someone" may have been mistaken. "Darkest Hour" is in theaters now (here in the U.S.) I don't think I've ever heard of MUTS showing a movie that is current in theaters. Perhaps they saw "The Dark Knight"?

Yeah. It seemed odd to me that it would already be showing on a ship. I think I will assume that it will not be shown.

  5. I sailed on the Eurodam on a Caribbean cruise. I did not like the ship. The interior is dark. The atrium is practically nonexistent. It seemed like a lot of the upper decks were closed off because they were set up with cabanas you had to pay for.

The food was about the same as Princess.

Loved the Crows Nest. Great views, nice little coffee snack bar. Excellent library offerings up there. Lovely views with comfy chairs.

We had one of the very large inside cabins. They are a bargain.

  6. I have a copy of my boarding pass on my phone as a back-up in the unlikely event that I lose the one I printed. Have any of you tried checking in with an email version of your boarding pass on your phone? I may give this a try on my January 20 cruise on the Crown using my printed boarding pass as the back-up.

  7. We booked our January Caribbean cruise under this promo. We got a corner stern balcony (B749 on the Crown) for the price of the lowest category standard balcony. This is a premium balcony stateroom. So the promo worked perfectly for me. We got the pre-paid gratuities and onboard credit as well. Between the promo, our TA, using our FCDs, and the stockholder credit we ended up with $400 obc. I’m happy.

  8. I have another thread going (do you ever binge on food) but since I'm committed to LCHF/Keto diet I thought I would post here as well. I am down 21 pounds since I started curbing carbs. I lost 7 pounds in 2 months and the other 15 since going keto. I have stalled a bit and I think it's because I am not counting carbs as often as I should. I'm still eating low carb, but not tracking it. As of today I will start tracking again.

This diet is forever. I know if I add back carbs I will start gaining again. That sweet treat or bread fix is just not worth it. I have had no sugar or bread or rice or potatoes since going keto in mid July. I'm really not missing them that much. That has really surprised me.

Keep up the good work, everyone. It has helped me stay motivated to see the other health benefits of LCHF/keto. It can reverse type2 diabetes and may even have some cancer-fighting benefits. It sounds so fad-y. Like it can cure anything. But I am buying in to this lifestyle. I will have a physical in December and can't wait to see how my labs come back.

Need more motivation? Try viewing the documentary "Fed Up." This is available on Netflix.

  9. Update:

I am now down 21 pounds.

I have started using (Bayer brand) ketostix to check my level of ketosis. This has helped keep me on track. Another helpful source is dietdoctor.com. I have chosen not to subscribe to the full site and feel I still get a lot of benefit from the short videos, recipes, and success stories.
