  1. Thank you. I am a bit worried about doing things on our own. We usually like to take a tour on the first day in a new city. Probably will try one of the excursions in Santorini and Athens. Still researching!

Hi i was reading that Bari sops are closed on Monday morningsand they open at 4pm. We are hoping to book the cruise organised tour to Alberobello and see the Trulli

  2. If you are willing to walk a little it would be best to take the train to Athens. The worst way to approach the city is by road, both from scenery and time. The train station is easy to find. Turn left when you come out of the port and keep the sea to you left. Eventually (maybe 1 mile, but there are busses), you will come across an foot bridge over the road. Take that, and the station is just there. It is cheap and quick to get right to the heart of Athens. We got off right at the Acropolis, but I can't remember the station name. Enjoy!

Hi i will be doing same trip on11May. The train station stop is Monastiraki. i have been to athens many times and am a bit familiar. You can walk to acropolis fron "the back" via the plaka. It is also close to the Agora which is another historical site. Also Monastiraki leads to ermou street which is the main shopping street and goes all the way to Syntigma square and the parlament building. hope above helps you plan

  3. We recently returned from an MSC cruise that sailed from Civitavecchia. I had a tough time finding info on this ship on the MSC board. If anyone else is planning to travel on this ship, I would be glad to answer any questions about the ship in general.

  4. Hi, I would like to ask someone who has been on MSC Fantasia what type of sockets they have in the cabins. i have read that on some MSC ships only European sockets are available on others i read that there are American sockets. We use British 3 prong in my country and would definetely need an adaptor, but which one, a European round 2 prong or the American flat 2 prong type?

Thanks to anyone who can advise.

  5. Thanks. I am trying to decide between staying in Mestre or somewhere in Venice. I have been to Venice before but only for a day trip. I want to be there in the evening but have read it is easily accessible from Mestre without having to drag our luggage from the train station to a hotel. I also don't want to spend a fortune just to sleep in Venice.

Hi We are also having the 11th May sailing on Fantasia. We arrive on the 9th late and taking the shuttle bus from Treviso Airport (ryanair airport) to MEstre and spending Saturday visiting Venice as my Travel agent advised it is best to stay in Mestre easy to get to Venice and a Taxi to the port wont be expensive. we booked hotel Trieste main reason it has a lift/elevator. We will be 2 ladies and do not want to drag the luggage up stairs. Be careful when booking hotels that they do have lift as some are old buildings and they do not have a lift. The location of the hotel is also convenient as it is across the train station, a few metres away...again lugging of luggage from Shuttle bus stop to hotel will be minimal.
