  1. Can anyone tell me how this really works. I just went to Carnival and went through the booking process as a past guest (I am a VIFP), I then went through the booking progress as if I had never cruised before and the exact ship, floor, cabin was the same exact price. Just wondering where the upgrade really comes in.

  2. I can see where that is a good idea, but I and many others prefer to get the discounted Carnival gift cards at a minimum of 10% savings. That quickly adds up.

I avoid all confusion by calling my PVP and having him apply my payments. Occasionally I'll do it myself online especially if it's one final payment, but when multiple GCs are used I call him. He sends me an email after each one is applied. No mistakes that way.

Good idea, are you automatically assigned a PVP? I had one for my last cruise but can't remember his name.

  3. This is precisely why I make a single payment using my credit card a couple days before final payment is required. Then when the charge hits my account, I take all the cash I have been putting away in my desk drawer and pay off the charge. No mistakes, no arguments, no disputes, ever !

That's what I usually do also, I wanted to get these gift cards on their as I wanted to make sure they were good. I bought them from AARP but still unsure, they took my cards allright showed my balance change but then they said when I called them that the 300 was from my credit and not the gift card, which was done at least a week, possibly 2 from the gift card.

  4. Thanks for the replies, I didn't book they a TA. I did call Carnival and they sent me an email with the info. I'm just thinks there is a discrepancy, I paid 300 with a gift card and then like a week later I had them apply a credit for 300 that I had from a canceled cruise. They are saying they never got the gift card payments, only the credit.

  5. Hello,

So far I do not have any excursions for either of these ports. Can anyone tell me if there is a beach within walking distance that would be good to hang out at? Thanks!

  6. On my first cruise w/Carnival on the second to last day I fell asleep on deck with my legs in the sun (I am a fairskinned redhead) when I woke up I staggered to the cabin fell asleep. My cabin mate went down to dinner and had the maitre d call our cabin to wake me up (why she couldn't wake me up I don't know) I went down to dinner and was in so much pain it was unbearable. The next morning I woke up to a blister about 2 1/2 inches in diameter and about an inch high on my leg. As soon as I got off the ship I went to quick care and got burn cream for my leg and had to take an extra 3 days off work.

Plus, this same cabin mate was a friend from work and didn't have any credit cards so I went ahead and put mine up for her. Well low and behold the last night of the trip I get the bill and she had charged 900 dollars in the casino. Needless to say that was the last time for that! She did pay me back but it took awhile.

  7. If you had to list your top 5 points/tips that you wish you had known before you went on your first cruise what would they be? Examples, like binder clip for the shower curtain or that the first drink is NOT free, etc.

My friend is going on a cruise for her honeymoon and neither have been on one before and she just doens't have time to read these boards, wedding planning and all, so I thought I might compile a list for her. I tried composing one myself but found that I just kept forgetting things. Thanks for everyone's help!

what are the binder clips for the shower used for? thanks!
