  1. Thanks Barbara for info about cash, dollars or Spanish money??? Have not got that far with the San Antonio hotel yet. We need to look at flights so we know how many days ahead of cruise we want to stay, also good to know for them--our arrival time into Santiago. Seems so far off, but like to get some things checked off list. Glad I found you on this site:) On our own roll call, everyone is planning tours, not so much hotels, will get to that soon. Where in Detroit did you call home? Bob graduated Dearborn Fordson 1956, I grew up in Ypsilanti--1961 grad. Thought we would never leave Mich.BUT work has other ideas!! Still so many family friends there, do not get back often--plus cold!!! Now finding Florida too hot after 25 yrs--never satisfied!

  2. Thanks, I will do that as they just answered my e mail-- and will get back to me soon--we must look into our flights as will help with their transportation. Nice you are in south FLA and close to ports and all the airports, we are always heading one way or the other--Melbourne Air has nothing and Cape Port is basically Carnival! :p Love chatting!

  3. Thanks for all you info and we can tell you like the hotel and enjoyed your stay--that means so much to fellow travelers. The small airport I was asking about, I thought there was maybe one in San Antonio, but Santiago it is--probably easier to do air with Celebrity as we come in Santiago and then go out BA, maybe after a couple day stay. We are up in Vero Beach, are you Florida too? gives us a couple airport choices, but we agree, as we get older--nice to sail home-with a few sea days!! Thanks again Marge

  4. Thank you so much--since we have been to Santiago and Valparaiso, this sounds good for day or two before departure, I will look into your mentioned hotel. It is months off, but nice to be started on details. Just one last question--we are in Florida so flying from Orlando, or South Fla. airports our best options. We did the trans from Valparaiso years ago on Princess to Miami. We may book through Celebrity or on our own--any airline you took--you like?? Pricing may be a lot more going into smaller airport----Thanks again! Marge

  5. Thank You so much. It sounds like the port is not as difficult as others on our roll call make it--they had us thinking we had to walk and pull our luggage from an entrance gate to the terminal, quite a distance. Appreciate the info on the small hotels and friendly people also. Have nice weekend!

  6. About the year 2009, long time ago, we took a cruise that was leaving from Valparaiso, we were staying in Santiago with a transfer to Valparaiso. We were not Cruise Critic members at the time, (never had heard of them) our cruise got delayed by a day due to bad weather coming from the Horn. Very early in the morn, all CC members had gotten the news and made arrangements. We were in a lovely small hotel in Santiago, with out door court to eat breakfast, next to a great outdoor/inside seafood restaurant. The hotel stay was great, especially since so many CC members had picked it too. They were wonderful helping us get a van ride to Valparaiso, with a stop at Veramonte vineyards and hotel near the port. DOES THIS HOTEL sound familiar to anyone who has stayed in Santiago. Not a lot of info, but thought may ring a bell with someone. We will be in Santiago Jan 2019 for a Celebrity Eclipse 14 day around the Horn. Needless to say--after that cruise we joined CC!!! So many hotels in Santiago, also at the end in Buenos Aires----thanks for help if anyone remembers this smaller hotel. Great to see all the helpful questions!!;)

  7. We are going on Celebrity Eclipse Jan 2019 Chili & Argentina and have book a balcony on the very back aft over the wake and plan to use it a lot, cool, or cold!! Have gotten one of those cabins, when available, and see everything on both sides. We had one for Norwegian Fjords and a Princess Antarctica sail (so very cold!! but so very beautiful--like being in church) Years ago, no one wanted these cabins, no in high demand! Enjoy your sail!!
