  1. Date of Cruise: 1/30/22

    Ship: Edge

    Cabin #:  7315

    Deck #:      7

    Cabin Category:      SV

    Cabin Location:   aft (sunset verandah)

    Bed Position:  by bath

    Balcony Type:   sunset verandah (traditional)

Balcony/Window Size:   large (7th and 8th middle SV cabins have slightly larger balconies)

Balcony/Window View/Obstruction:  No.  When we looked down, we saw only a few top windows of Eden, which wasn't an issue

    Balcony Overhang?:        minimal

    Magic Carpet Issues?:  No

Noise Issues?:  yes, Eden music at night (goes until 1030pm, I believe) and thrusters during docking in early morning

    Wind Issues?:  No

Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?:  No

Advantages/Problems/Comments:  Longer walk to elevators/stairs, which we enjoyed to get extra steps in.  We did feel some movement during the cruise.  Also had noise during docking (side thrusters) and later at night if you go to bed early (Eden music)

Would You Book It Again?: Yes

  2. I just received an email about this upgrade for our upcoming cruise. I was unable to do this under cruise planner. When I called Celebrity, the representative did not know about this upgrade. She said I already have Premium drink package, and that’s the best you can get.

Has anyone had experience recently with upgrading?

A Celebrity rep I spoke to this morning on the phone told me the sale that was supposed to start 12/1 on excursions and other extras was “indefinitely postponed”. He was reading from an email he received regarding it.

Did the rep imply that this was going to start 12/8, as others have posted, or indefinitely postponed (meaning it is probably cancelled)?

  4. We liked it. Nice beach and water. We had decent service on the beach as well. You could walk down to Shipwreck, but we didn't find a need to. Food was expensive, but portions were big and we split a fish sandwich. Buckets of beer were only $15. Also, there are watersports onsite if you wish, otherwise R&R was great.

  5. Lunch is offered at the Lawn Club Grill, but not every day. Inquire once on the ship to find out which day that venue may be open for lunch and book it on the ship. It has been my experience that restaurants open for lunch are only once or twice during a sailing and not available to book pre-cruise. I was having dinner in Ocean Liners one night (think Murano, but on the Constellation) and our waitress asked us if we might be interested to stop in for lunch later in the cruise. That is how we learned about this being offered. Lunch in Ocean Liners was $25 (November 2014). I seem to recall a price of $25 at lunch when I was on the Reflection, but that was from 2013 during my sailing and not sure what the charge may be today.

I understand that the Lawn Club Grill cannot be pre-booked (prior to cruise) for lunch. How do I find out what days the Lawn Club Grill is offering lunch? Do I need to book this the day I board, or is it okay to wait until the day I want to go there? I didn't know how busy it can get.

Also, where is the best place to see if there are any discounts offered for dinners? Is this usually just the first night, or continuously throughout the cruise? I had remembered being asked right after embarking last year outside one of the restaurants.

    Thanks! 11 days until cruising!!

  6. My TA said there would not be a penalty/cancellation, loss of perks, etc. I was actually surprised myself! I'll know from now on to ask upfront since you said that this is supposed to be done upfront to avoid fees. We are on the back hump (angled) cabins facing aft on 12. I'm hoping this will help with any wind, as well. I had done some research on these cabins and only a few had concerns with the noise above. Regardless, it is better than the forward cabin on 10 with a standard balcony, in my opinion. Getting excited for the cruise! It's been below zero this week.

  7. We received a Captain's Club upgrade from C3 to a C2. I hadn't asked my TA for it when I initially booked. We're now on the aft hump on the resort deck (bigger balcony and better location, in my opinion).

  8. I already received my luggage tags, but ended up with a room upgrade yesterday, so I need new tags. We leave in 3 weeks (so maybe I need to just give it time). MyCelebrity and online check in are updated with my new room, but there is no longer a link for luggage tags. My e-doc PDF has my old room listed so I can't just print the luggage tag sheet. Any suggestions?

I just received notice that my e-docs were re-issued with my new room number. The link at the bottom of online check-in reappeared and I was able to request my new luggage tags.

  9. We are getting to port at 10am on March 18th. Is it possible to get a taxi/tour at the port and go to the fortress, then head to the beach? Do we need to schedule a tour, or are there taxis available at both locations that we can hire each way? How much should we plan for taxi/tour fares? What is the travel time from port to the fortress? (Carambola is only 15 min drive from the port, I believe.)

We don't plan on spending much time at the fortress (from what I read, it should take around an hour), but I don't want to miss it! We then have reservations at the Carambola Beach club at noon (which they will hold until 1pm). Is that cutting it too close? If so, we can do away with the fort.

I've been searching the forums for an answer, but haven't found one yet. Any input is appreciated!

  11. Has anyone taken a taxi/tour to the fortress then headed to Carambola? We dock at 10 and have reservations at the beach for chairs at 12. Is this timing ok? Is it best to arrange a tour in advance or just get one at port? (We were going to just do one at port)

  12. I think I am going to do the fortress tour in the AM, will I have time to go to Cockleshell beach?

Is it possible to do a tour in the AM and still do the beach? Is it best to hire a taxi to take you to the sites and then drop at the beach?

  13. Are there any events or places in San Juan that celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Any recommendations on bars/restaurants for that evening? We're stopping for a 1/2 day port stop on the Silhouette and get in mid-afternoon.
