Just got back from Deck 8 and the answer is NO.

8211 is hard up against a bulkhead and None Shall Pass.  You'd have to go thru the gap by 8225 to get across.

That’s a bummer but thank you so much for actually taking the time to look and share an update, so appreciated!! I hope you’re enjoying your cruise!!

  2. We just booked our Mediterranean cruise and traveling with another couple. Our staterooms have been assigned and based on the deck plan below, you can see where I’ve circled our 2 staterooms. I'm curious if anyone knows if this is walkable space so that we can get to each others rooms easily? I asked our travel agent to book us as close together as possible but apparently this was the best she could do. Thanks for any info you may have re: this ship and deck!

  3. We were just there 3 weeks ago. We took towels from the ship since we didn't know if they were included, but they did have a towel hut at the beach and when we paid for our passes at the front desk the lady asked us if we would need towels, we just said no since we had ours.

If you get off the ship early, you should have a good chance of getting an umbrella on the beach and there are plenty of chairs at the pools and on the beach. We also took a few snacks with us (sealed, individual bags of chips, crackers) - ate a big breakfast on the ship so we didn't eat at their restaurant. Just bought a few bottles of water and they have a starbucks on site too.

The $30 day pass does not include food - it's all day long, so there are no add'l restrictions on your time there.

  4. We loved this island! Just be sure to keep walking and not stop at the 1st beach - that's where most people find a chair and stay. Keep walking past that area, you'll see the aqua park, walk past that and you'll get to barefoot beach - it is beautiful and not crowded.

  5. We did the Melia Resort day pass. just take #10 bus and theyll take you right to hotel. Go to front desk to purchase (you don't buy them ahead of time). It's $30 pp and includes use of their facilities, pool, beach chairs, kayaks, paddleboarding, snorkeling, etc. They have a starbucks on site and a couple of pool bars/restaurant.

We had a great time and it's a beautiful beach.

  6. The less-drowsy Dramamine works great. Just take some with you and if you feel some movement on the boat and worry you might get sick, then take some. It won't hurt you and it's better to be safe than sorry. I've heard way too many people talk about how horribly miserable sea sickness can be - once you get sick, it can last a pretty good while.

We just got back from our cruise a little over a week ago. The night we set sail out of Charleston was the night hurricane Arthur was coming up the east coast - talk about a rocking boat! It was really bad - to the point everyone had to hold on to handrails to keep from falling. We were already concerned our son might get sick because he's very sensitive (easily gets car sick). As soon as we started feeling the boat moved, we knew later in the night it would be worse with the hurricane, so we all took a less-drowsy dramamine. my son also wore sea band on his wrist. He never got sick (none of us did).

In spite of how bad the ship was rocking, we all slept really good that night too.

  7. We were there this past Friday through Carnival (same island, but they call it Little Stirrup Cay).

We thought the food was mediocre at best. Actually it sucked. Maybe if you're going thru Royal Caribbean it will be better. Burgers were way over cooked to the point you couldn't hardly chew them.

I'd recommend you take a large water bottle too - they only had very small paper cups to drink out of (like the little dixie cups preschoolers drink out of).

We loved this island...but not because of the food! Eat a big breakfast.

  8. Just got back from LSC - was there this past Friday and loved it. We took our own snorkel equipment and rented life vest - it is $10 per person for just life vest. They suck. Apparently you have to inflate them yourself, but they don't really inflate well. We just wore them around our neck anyway but not sure they were doing much. I saw the snorkel equipment others were renting - if you have your own, I'd recommend bringing that instead of renting.

We went to the other side of the island - I think I saw a sign that said Barefoot Beach. It was gorgeous and water was much clearer. Not much fish there to see though. We did see 3 sharks close up which was cool (and scary).

The only cabanas I saw were right when you first get off/on the tenders. There are so many chairs on the island with lots of shady areas, I didn't see any value in spending $$ on a cabana. We enjoyed exploring the different beaches on the island - barefoot beach by far the best area IMO. Very few people were at that part of the island and it was gorgeous.

  9. Hi, I just posted this in another thread on this board. We just returned from our bahamas cruise this week. We did the $30 day pass at Melia and I HIGHLY recommend it! Once we arrived in Nassau, we went to the visitors desk inside the building you go through there at the port and asked the lady there about it (just to be sure it was legit). She instructed us to take the #10 bus and tell them to take us to Melia, so that's what we did. Only $1.25 pp fare. When they drop you off in front of the hotel, just go to the front desk and tell them you want a day pass and they'll give you a pink arm band which gives you access to all their facilities (minus a room of course).

We didn't feel the need to do the all inclusive one because we ate a big breakfast before getting off the boat, and we knew we'd probably leave by 2pm so we could do a little shopping before getting back on the boat. There's a pool bar and also a starbucks inside the hotel, so we just got a couple of waters while we were there and took a few snacks and didn't need to eat at their restaurant.

It's a beautiful beach, chairs available, great pools, beach volleyball available, basketball court. Also includes snorkeling, paddle boarding, use of kayaks, etc.

I would definitely go back and do it again. Great use of our money!

  11. If we decide to do the melia day pass (not including any food), are there any local, inexpensive places nearby that we could easily walk to and grab lunch? Or, are there any good food vendors there on the beach (or close by)?

Or, would we be better off just eating at Melia's restaurants. There are 4 of us, so I'd imagine the hotel food will be pricey. I'd prefer finding some good, inexpensive, local food to try.

  12. For those of you who have been to Melia, are there any vendors close by doing beach side massages and if so about how much do they cost? I've seen posts that they're on cabbage beach, but we're considering the melia day pass for july and would love to do a beach massage.

  13. We are thinking about spending part of the day at Melia as well (in July) and I am wondering, are there any vendors there offering beach side massages? I've searched a bit in the forums and see that there are some at Cabbage Beach, but what about on Cable Beach in the Melia area? About how much do they usually cost?

  14. Thank you scubagirrl -- I've been considering the Melia based on some of the other info and reviews posted here and that does sound like a good option for us and what we're looking for. I was hoping for an option similar to Melia on paradise island. I'm sure the beach at melia is just as fabulous.

It's too bad Atlantis is so cost prohibitive.

  15. I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations for where to go on Paradise Island OTHER than Atlantis? It's been 10 yrs since my hubby and I went - we did not go to Atlantis, just took a ferry over and asked some folks how to get to a nice beach and ended up at the most beautiful beach (Atlantis was not in sight, so I'm thinking it was on the opposite side of island). Water was calm, it was a great day.

We're taking our kids (13, 16) for the 1st time in July and would love to visit paradise island again but would rather actually know where we're going and have a beach where we can have access to restrooms, etc. We don't want the expense of Atlantis (even though I'm sure they'd love it).

    Any recommendations??

  16. I'm "subscribing" to this thread - am also interested in an answer to this. I've done a little searching and so far, the hotel rates I've found for park and cruise seem to be really high - I don't see the benefit when you consider the much lower rate of a regular hotel night and then just pay to park at the port. Seems to be about the same when you add it all up.

We're a family of 4 - I've noticed some of the hotels add a pp shuttle surcharge when it is more than 2 people, which also adds to the cost.
