  1. Quick check in to see anyone has stayed in 8162/8762 on Escape or Bliss.
I have always been lucky with the GTY room assignment (Until Now that is.. but thats the reality of the game, you win some, you lose some)

For those who stayed in these two rooms, how was:

    • Noise(if any?)
    • View from balcony (obstructed? if so - how much?)
    • Other info?

I already placed a bid for mini suite upgrade but might consider upping it(or also bidding for SPA balcony) based off how others' have experienced this cabin.

  2. I have been looking around for an Alaska cruise in mid May and on the NCL Website the May 18 - 25 route mentions there will be "Scenic Glacier Cruising" which will take place overnight after we leave Juneau at 2pm.

I called NCL and was told that it would be "Glacier Bay" but it seems odd that that NCL would not say so on the website given its such a huge draw, does anyone else have any info?

This is the route in question:

    Day Cruise Ports Arrive Depart
Sat Seattle, Washington (EMBARK) --- 4:00 pm
    Sun At Sea --- ---
Mon Ketchikan, Alaska 7:00 am 3:00 pm
Tue Juneau, Alaska 7:00 am 1:30 pm
      Scenic Glacier Cruising --- Overnight
Wed Skagway, Alaska 7:00 am 5:00 pm
    Thu At Sea --- ---
Fri Victoria, British Columbia 4:00 pm 11:59 pm
Sat Seattle, Washington (DISEMBARK) 6:00 am ---
  3. We were on Oasis last week as well (who knew!)...and that was definitely NOT the same menu onboard.

While we have dined at 150 Central Park multiple times...we were underwhelmed at the menu and said "nope" to eating there this time around. Quite frankly...the new menu in Post 1 has a few nice items...but doesn't entice us either. Past menus were more appealing.

The only reason I would even go there was for the lobster item tbh

It was priced ridicously for the item it offered.

Do you feel Chops is a better alternative?

    My option is either

Wonderland + 150(If the menu in post 1 is in deed the new menu) + Chops for Lunch

    or

    Wonderland + Chops for Dinner

  4. It seems to have been confirmed via the cruise critic news post

150 Central Park is now helmed by Royal Caribbean's own culinary talent (no more affiliation with Michael Schwartz), and while the inside still reflects a fine dining atmosphere, our server explained to us that dress codes have been relaxed -- in accordance with passenger demand.

  5. The new menu will be in effect in the near future. I called RC mentioning how come I do not see 150 Central Park on the dining reservations in my planner, they said because they are changing the menu and I asked when will this be effective but they couldn't give me a date. Since they changing the menu (what I call a much better menu) online it should be rolled out anytime now.

Oh okay. Were they able to confirm that the menu link I posted is indeed the menu its being changed to?:confused::confused:

  6. Has any one currently sailing on Oasis Class for the last week or two experienced the new menu at 150 Central Park (Esp the Lobster Thermidor?)

I had tried 150 Central Park last august and found it to be underwhelming.. and was wondering if the new menu changes have made things better. (Sailing on Symphony in April so would like to know)

    New menu pdf here: https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/royal/media/royal/shared_assets/pdf/menu/150CentralPark_DinnerMenu_SY.pdf

  7. Agree... they could have picked less 'run of the mill' ports. The itineraries certainly don't inspire me to pay edge prices when I can do that exact same itinerary on ANY cruise line. [emoji20]

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I was ready to pull the trigger, then I saw the ports....... going to go with Oasis 4 instead.

  8. Where did you thinkthey'd put it in the winter? 7 day Caribbean will give it the most exposure for the most $$$$. Doesn't sound too crazy to me. If put her on 14 day Asian itineraries everyone would whine about that one too.

I was expecting it tbh, but at least hoped for brand new, more unique ports, such as certain unique islands that are smaller with less tourists.

I don't know about you guys but I am tired of the same old offering with the addition of key west.

Guess I will wait to see where the second ship gets deployed at or hope the ship will get a quick EU season before going to Caribbean.

I am not necessarily looking for a 14 day Asia thing but rather, anything that is refreshingly new - Which seems to be what was teased for the last two years.

  9. Key marketing tagline:

“On this stunning new ship we will bring our guests even closer to the must-see destinations of the world, while indulging them on board in the most luxurious accommodation, the finest culinary experiences, and the best hospitality delivered by our dedicated staff,”

"Allow us to reach ports not possible before"

    "Small ship with big amenities"

& Places it in freaking Caribbean, as if the space there is not crowded enough with four Oasis class and every other ship swarming the place during Winter.

Well I guess the plus side is at least there isn't Nassu.

Love the ship reveal, very... very disappointed with the East/West Caribbean offering. Really was hoping they would offer unique ports for once given the unique ship size

  10. Article skewed the facts quite a bit. FDR's salary was around $3.7M. Stock options have to be paid for at whatever strike price was agreed to in his compensation. In short, FDR HAS TO PAY for the options.

Stock granted has stipulations as to when and how many he can sell at any given time, and probably has some vesting period where he cannot sell any shares, for any reason.

Who knows what those shares will be worth when he's allowed to sell them. Trying to put a number on the shares is a fools exercise given it's not known when he can sell them.

The options may be worth something, or may end up being under water and worth nothing.

I had startup shares in a company I helped found. Some shares were worth quite a bit. Others weren't worth the paper they were written on. But, on paper, the number was well over a million, even though when I sold them the number was a small fraction of that.

So, don't get your panties in a bunch over this article. They aren't presenting the whole (or even accurate) picture.

Options for public companies generally are fairly attractive, if not extremely generous to a fault when it comes to low strike prices, unless he tanked the stock, he will likely make a lot of money regardless if its RSU or not.

  11. Some of the comments here is quite sickening. There is no denying there is a wealth distribution issue that is sending shocks to the overall well being of the economic system, we saw that in 2008-2009 with the collapse. We KNOWN that for a fact GOP supporters are older age and younger people are not exactly flocking to the ko ko trump GOP freakshow at the moment, because of all the wealth distribution issue, you will only see an increase shift to Left like what we have faced in Canada, it is the undeniable trend. This issue alone with Trump have already forced GOP to focus on maintaining their two houses because the president race is already over at this point.

Politics aside, from a purely economic figures perspective, the overall economy does Better when the lowest level is making a living wage, which at <10-15 a hour, really is not one.

Again, this is a cruise forum not a political one, mentioning Bernie or Trump is pretty ridiculous and turning this thread into a left to right issue.

Lastly, as someone who invests, Del Rio is being paid over inflated salary with bonus, his salary does not make sense from a shareholder point of view. He is not paid proportionally to his duty and worth and I question NCL's board for approving such package.

Problem with Options again, is whether the CEO truly care about the long term perspective of company as oppose to short term flip.

  12. can not get an answer from RCI if the ports are going to change. We as well as others have reservations for tours that were not booked thru RCI. If we do not know if the ports are cancelled we can not cancel our tours with in the allotted time frame. I would think that by now they would know what they are going to do with one less day.

Guys calm down, you will be fine. Anthem will just have to go at full speed

  13. Fascinating thread...and I sure hope you make it, Rich!

Here's a thought outside the box...if you've got good insurance, head up to Toronto.

Here's my thinking: a lot of the challenges during and in the immediate aftermath of the storm (Sunday) will be planes and crews being in the wrong places...and so many flights to Florida go through those affected airports. I think that's what's happened with your Sunday flight - conditions likely aren't going to be that bad in ISP, but they just can't get the plane and crew there...it's going to backlog US carriers for days.

The difference is, all of Air Canada's flights to Florida originate in Canada and will be unaffected by the storm. Sure, they've got some aircraft that serve NE US cities, but it's not on the scale of SW, JB, UA and others trying to restart the bulk of their systems on the run.

If you could get up to Toronto on Friday evening, there's several nonstop options to Florida airports...and most importantly, I expect all those planes will go. The trouble is, if you can't get up to Toronto tonight, you're unlikely to be able to fly out Saturday...even if the storm hasn't hit NYC yet Saturday morning, most flights are already cancelled as the airlines don't want their planes stuck in NYC, potentially for days.

On Saturday, Air Canada alone has 16 nonstop flights to Florida...there's more on Canada's #2 airline, Westjet...and at least five more flights Sunday morning that get in early enough to board Allure.

As for joining Allure in Jamaica - yes, check with RCCL. Falmouth is a couple hours by taxi from the airport in Montego Bay. But I'd also look soon into securing reservations for Monday or Tuesday...there's going to be a backlog of travellers trying to book a limited number of seats...even though JetBlue has nonstop flights from JFK, flying on Air Canada via Toronto might be easier to find a seat on a plane that actually departs on Monday...

Booking Air Canada flights last minute is the kiss of death.

This is coming from some one with E35K Status.

    JUST DONT DO IT

  14. its so nice to hear your views on this, and a big thank you for your support.

I have been a beacon of light, I have being saying this for years that the MDR experience is being threatened by some of the people whom book last minute.

I applaud you for mentioning this, and on behalf of the many, may I say well done sir !

    .

Polo and shorts on formal night in MDR. You mad?

This is very similar to the marriage issue right now. "Oh my god, other people who love each other are getting married, they stick out like sore thumb and we should ban them because we should mind other people's business"

Give me a break, time is not going to stop, it moves forward.

  15. Love the Dynamic Dining Concept.

Finally, I mean finally no more formal nights thats just beyond a pain in my bottom.

I only wanted to seat with people who I want to seat with. For that when we sail celebrity we had to get Aqua class(Praise the lord for smart causal at blu).

Face it guys, we are know its going to happen sonner or later. Because as the 18-45 market become increasingly more important when the capacity contiune to expand.

The only thing made me consider taking Oasis or Allure was the possiblity of Dynamic Dining. I waited long enough, if its not happening, then I will just go with NCL
