Actually this is a quote from a brief history of tipping and it's something that I've heard from other sources which I cannot remember to cite:

Tipping—which may have originated in the taverns of 17th Century England, where drinkers would slip money to the waiter “to insure promptitude” or T.I.P for short

    Tipping was done in advance.

Sounds like “Fornication Under Consent of King” origin.

  2. Who needs a chair hog patrol when there are passengers who take it on themselves. It started raining so we picked up our towels and left our clips on the chairs. We came back 20 minutes later and our clips were off the chairs and near the pool. The unapologetic chair cop said she did it to get 4  chairs together including one member who had cancer.

  3. Yes.  We were on a cruise with a couple that had that happened to them (thanks ArriveCan, their test was negative the day before for the cruise). One spouse had a comorbidity so they ended up quarantining in separate cabins. And even though the other spouse never tested positive they had to stay in quarantine because the medical staff told them they weren't boosted, even in all of RC's document it only states "fully vaccinated", not boosted.

That's a bit misleading.  The theater is set up with standard theater seating.  At the very back of the main level of the theater, there is a slightly raised section with some sofa-type seating.  That area is reserved for Suites, Pinnacles and (sometimes) D+.  Opens up to anyone ten minutes before the start of the show.

    🙂

We sat in some off to the side that were not reserved.

  5. No fridge but we requested a wine cooler. We then set it inside the big room trash can, put a couple of beers in the wine cooler, filled it with ice and covered it with a couple of pool towels. Ice didn’t melt for about a day.

We get confused on her because the WJ(front), gym(back), and solarium (back) are reversed from most ships.

Gym is small, hardly any free weight space, but it does have free steam and sauna rooms.

    Theater has love seats.

Small schooner bar and diamond club was an after thought and takes up space in the South Pacific Lounge.

It’s easy to get around and a good relaxing ship for shorter cruises.

  6. Well after nine cruises (this was the ninth) three airline trips, volunteering at airport twice a month, and numerous camping and casino road trips COVID officially found us. Awoke in the middle of Monday night with a very bad soar throat. My Covid line was very thick but DW was very faint. Been on Paxlovid since Tuesday with only symptom remaining is lethargy. But we did have a great cruise and can’t wait to sail Harmony from Galveston.

I say officially because  I think I caught it the 3rd day in Rome Dec’2019. I felt much worse then and sense of taste and smell were not working and I had a terrible upper chest congestion which took a month to shake off.

  7. Yes just let the bartender know and you can find the status of how many vouchers you have left by asking a bartender to check before ordering a drink. It’s good to check because somehow they charged a bottle of wine to our diamond voucher and it took a day to fix the mess.  After midnight on the last night you will get 4 more vouchers. Time to party the last night!

  8. We were on the same itinerary but Allure last October.

    1. Check in opens 45 days before sailing. That’s when you select your boarding time, input all of your personal (passport information and your picture). A day before you will get a text/email to input your COVID shot information. As of now you don’t need to have any boosters. No problems running the APP without the package. Only thing is when you have cell access you need to turn off WIFI because it tries to go over WIFI first and the WIFI will not have internet access without purchasing the package. When we got on the ship we sat down and started to book things on the APP.  I heard before COVID you could do this sometime within the 45 days. The comedy shows are in a small venue and if you are not there 10 minutes before showtime you might lose your seat, we found out the hard way.

    2. Flowriders (2 of them) are free and there is a dedicated standup and boggie board but they only give you a couple of times a day to try the standup if you haven’t mastered it. We liked strolling through Central before and after dinner. Don’t forget about ice skating (need long pants) rock climbing, shuffle board, and putput.  Don’t forget the slides either. First day solarium bistro is open for lunch so you can get away from the crowds at windjammer.

    3. We only ate at the MDR for dinner and did the late sitting because there is some waiting involved with my time, it seems more relaxed, you don’t have to rush from port days, don’t have to think about what time works best, and you get the same wait staff. If you do specialty dinning I’ve heard to try Chops, Wonderland, and 150 Central Park. The MDR will have 3-5 appetizers, main courses, and desserts every night and 3-5 every night that are different (are only available for that night). Check the APP because the menus will open up before you embark so you can plan your selections. Other free options are the Doghouse, Central Park Cafe, Sorentos,

    4. We did beach days at both St Marten and St Thomas. Did not sign up for anything at Coco Cay. Plenty of loungers but there were 2 ships there at less then 1/2 capacity. The pool bar area was crowded.

  9. This year if you had over 1,500 points before April 1st your status is prime (free 7 day cruise and free drinks in casino).  Normally it would take 2,500 points but since sailing didn't start until June, they did a special lower amount.

Before COVID I got one free 4-5 day cruise and I had less then 1,000 points.  In 2021 and 2022 I got 8 free cruises (only one was a 7 day) but I reached over 1,500 points in February and became diamond last October so I don't know if that makes a difference or not.  We have friends that play table games, they had less then 500 points (they don't track the same way as slots) but they got similar number of offers and they aren't diamond.

Of course with the pandemic, they were targeting gamblers to cruise more to increase their cash flow with ships sailing less then capacity.

  10. We have been offered “several free” cruises and have booked one on each free offer. We are less then two hours from port so transportation isn’t an issue for us. We do have one 5 day cruise we are flying to but we are arriving at port city several days early to do a land tour. I never thought I would be taking less then a week cruise but have enjoyed these 4 or 5 day free cruises.
