  1. I suddenly noticed that the "cover" image for one of our music charter FB groups has a good view of it.

This was taken from near Margaritaville. The green umbrellas and loungers closest to the camera are the "free" ones and the umbrellas are marked. The mishmash of colors closer to the water are the ones the vendors rent.

Our ship was Independence of the Seas, probably the largest ship ever to make port at Grand Turk.

    Thank you!!!!

  2. If Carnival did away with Cheers this forum would die because that's all anybody ever posts on here it seems like. Endless posts about Cheers just asking questions that are answered on Carnival's own pages, and in threads here several times a day, every day of the year.

Mods should clean them up - they add nothing to the forum. If someone posts a Cheers question, send them a link to Carnival's cheers page and close the thread. It's tiring and makes me not come to this forum very often.

Just my opinion on the issue.

Then we would not have had the pleasure of reading this wonderful post of yours!!!:')

  4. My head is hurting I have spent that much time researching these cruises. I am looking at carnival cruises out of Miami in April. I have the option of the Eastern Caribbean on the Glory or the Southern on the Vista. The Vista is more expensive but I can' t decide which itinerary. Eastern is Grand Cayman, Mahogany Bay, Belize and Cozumel. Southern is Grand Turk, La Romana, Curacao and Aruba. Does anyone have any useful information on either the ships or ports that might help sway my decision? I love the idea of visiting Mayan Ruins but would prefer to be on a newer ship, that said I sailed on the Fascination last year and we had a good time. I'm just fed up now and can't come to a decision!

Great question! So I have been on the Glory and we had a fantastic time! The ship is older than the new VISTA so obvious why the price difference. We did all of those itinerary and you just have to choose which one you want to do first and I say that because you will be back..LOL we were hooked! The Vista will blow you away as far as how the ship looks and that might hurt your decision for future cruising! I would review the ports and see what you absolutely want to do first! Or you can be real simple about it and put all the ports in a hat and pick one out and there you go that's your cruise!!

  5. Retransmission fees aren't cheap - Carnival was likely paying each local TV station a fee for each TV on each ship. That's just like Comcast/DirectTV/AT&T etc do for cable/satellite service on land. TV stations are losing viewers, so they're getting whatever the can from these fees

That is exactly the problem . I'm sure it gets expensive for every tv on every ship weather the room is booked or not.

  6. I'm with you. How hard is it to put on a decent pair of pants and a polo shirt? On our last cruise a guy showed up in shorts and tee shirt every night. Although credit where credit is due, at least on formal night his t shirt didn't say "Budweiser."

Lmao! I agree and wearing Jeans in MDR is not acceptable! Have som self respect if not for yourself for the others that want a nice experience at dinner! You want to dress in t-shirt then go to the buffet!

  7. I doubt you'd get a payout for a head cold unless you got 'cancel for any reason' insurance.

That happened to us last summer, husband was in urgent care with a bad cold two days before leaving for Mexico, son started throwing up in the airport, me and daughter got sick on second day of the trip. None of it was serious enough to trigger our insurance paying out. It just made for a crappy vacation sadly!

But yes we still get insurance.

That's a big risk going on a ship sick not only to yourself but the rest of the people on board. Believe me hate to wait for a cruise than not be able to go.
