Whether your interest is shopping, sightseeing, or dining, Prague is a great city. Highly recommend at least 2 full days. Earlier this year, my wife and I went to Prague prior to taking Viking's Passage to Eastern Europe. (This was my wife's 3rd trip to Prague and my 1st.) We arrived in Prague late morning. Checked into our hotel around noon. Spent the 1st afternoon on our own after consulting with the Viking Crew in the lobby. Took the Viking City Tour 2nd morning. Then had the afternoon of the 2nd day and all the third day on our own.

The Viking Tour is more of a city bus tour. The tour takes you by several city landmarks as it goes to Heroes' Square where you get off the bus for approximately a 1/2 hour. Then it is back on the bus for a drive to Buda Palace hill. There you disembark the bus for a short walking tour that includes Matthias Church, Fishermen's Bastion, and time for lunch at one of several restaurants in the immediate area. We used our free time to walk to Market Hall, Parliament, and the Chain Bridge. (The Viking Dock is right next to the Chain Bridge.)

I was stationed in Germany about one and a half hours from Luxembourg. We enjoyed the city and visited it several times on our own. I would think a trip sponsored by Avalon would be worthwhile.

My wife, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and I all enjoyed the Viking sponsored Peking duck dinner. The women lived in Taiwan for several years and opted to skip the Chinese Opera and returned to the hotel. I went to the opera and enjoyed it immensely.

We did Viking's Imperial Jewels of China Tour. Viking ship staff and tour escort more than exceeded our expectations so we tipped above the guidelines.

We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of Viking's Passage of Eastern Europe. Budapest closely rivals Prague. The entire trip was educational and eye-opening. Made us realize US schools focus on Western European History and that we actually knew very little about Eastern European History.
