    Thanx

  2. Thank you for that little tidbit! I was not aware of the "curfew" of stores! ha! will try to make that trip early in the evening. ;)

Did anyone know of recent Capers.. ? I did read the all info letter a really nice lady on this thread forwarded to me.. but it did not include the dailies.. If any knows either a site that lists the Capers or someone who just returned from the Conquest and wouldn't mind sharing ...:)

    Thank you!

  3. Hello,

took your advise. got ezcruise to take me to cruise term & back again for a very decent price! whew.. that's off my mind at last. Staying in hotel on Seawall Blvd Galveston. so I figure I be walking down the blvd to Landrys for dinner & seek out liquor store (?)I can walk to.

Would appreciate the Capers so this time, I can print.. circle and "know b4 I go" ..Actually getting the chance to DO those hopefuls!

Also.. signed up for the Sandals All inclusive & again will take your advise & sign up for all water ops 1st! and no hamburgers either. So waddya eat instead?? How safe to take my camera on the 'tour"?

So.. anyone know what little tidbits.. those free things you can ask for ..either b4 you get on the ship or just after???

I remember reading something like that on a thread a long time ago.. just could not find it again.

Thank you each and everyone who has posted on this thread. Your insights, your humor and info.. well, they are truly "kewl"!!

    have a happy!

    Blue:)

  4. Hello,

if my question has been posted b4 .. please just list the link to it!! Don't want to be a bother..

We are cruising for the second time on the Conquest.. this time it will be out of Galveston and not NOLA. We have never been to Galveston and we are flying in from IAH.. egads. how did we do that one?

What are the least expensive ways to travel from Airport to Hotel. We are staying at the Quality Inn Seawall.. When we leave the cruise we will be going directly to the airport.. opps that makes this two questions in one.. (doesn't count I tell myself. : ))

    Second question? of course.. ha!

We will be in a Mini Suite for the first time as well. Its a cat 11.. on Empress Deck. aft port side. 7317 What's it like? I have not seen any pix of it. I was hoping it would be a quiet room and lovely!! not asking too much?

Also.. We have considered the Sandals all day event.. any one attend it? was it worth the choice.??

o m goodness.. my questions are getting ahead of me.. pulling me into "BotherHood"

    hehehe!

Glad you have this thead. I wish everyone a great cruise !

  5. I agree.. and me, with only silk and chifon! (sp?)

We attended a dance in another state so we had to get a hotel room. No one mentioned the Tri outs of three states Volley Ball for grade school up to high.. there were well over 700 students ... all with their own volley balls. in the pool.. in the jacuzzi, in the fitness room .. in the elevators .. up against our bedroom wall. bounce bounce bounce.. ergggg ( hair pulling)

    now i ask.

  6. Tho this is not the funniest or craziest story... it was my first eva! cruise...

I had been sailing all my life and told my fiance that I should be "just fine" on a cruise ship!! having great "sea" legs and ego and all.

But the ship was a bit rocky the first day, unbeknowst to me, as we were in an inside cabin and I could not see the water. I found myself constantly bumping into furniture in the cabin.. losing my footing.. and trying so hard not to, noticing that he was not having any difficulty at all! I was secretly so embarrassed. By supper time, I am very upset with myself, rocking and rolling all over the place, I ask him to help steady me; and apologize for my "arrogance".

We head out of the cabin and down the narrow hallway and I am practically bouncing off the walls, and I look back ... there he is walking perfectly straight!! I think to myself.. get a grip! I say back to him, What's wrong why am I doing this? He says It must be in inner ear infection or something since the boat is sailing flat on the water. I flush. and continue to try to steady myself down the hallway. Along comes another couple towards us... and the lady is first and doing the same thing I am.. and I politely say to her.. Hello, guess we both must have inner ear problems!! She looks at me quite weirdly.. and passes by and we almost bump each other. The man goes next and he's struggling too.. So I say.. Hi, don't worry .. hopefully its only a head cold..and he looks at me and then at my fiance who just about cracks up.. I look back at him with the obvious question mark on my face.. and the man says to him.. You devil! and bounces by..

I say to my fiance.. What does he mean? and he responds, I'm sorry the ship really is rocking.. I just couldn't help myself..

I could have shot him.. I was so furious.. but he giggled and I made it out to the elevator and asked him.. How did he do it? He said . He was mustering every thing he had to appear walking straight.. till that couple came along.. then he said he just about peed his pants.

    Funny guy...

  7. Geez . .this has been great .. ! So glad to have met so many others that had the fun of sailing Commodore.. Surely do wish there was another cruise Line that had the same aura and fun those Commodore ships had...

ah such is life.. Thank you all for the wonderful mem's and funny times!!

Geez Deb 79 any way you could post a pix of that tshirt.. I think I remember but .. i must be getting old or something.. ha!

  8. Hello Patti, wow you certainly have been most kind to all. and I would like to extend a Thankyou up front for my request as well! We don't actually leave till next year on the Valor ... but I surely would like to have the plans. WE sailed the Conquest in 2004 and spent most of the time like lab rats good will hunting, as it were... man!

    Thankyou again:)

  9. hello,

I have a best friend who sailed Nov 1999 out of NOLA on the Commodore Enchanted Isle and looking to see if there is a replica or even if someone has pic of the boat and the good times aboard her that nov 1999! It was a Zydeco Cruise!

  10. You are most welcome...! I rarely dive with all the "bells n whistles" keeping it simple. I chose my clothes for the dive boat that same way. one more thing to consider. . . the ride back on the boat can get a bit "brisk" shall we say, and a good dive jacket does the trick. <windbreaker / water resistant and long so you sit on it.

    DiveGear%20jacket%20copy.jpg

Impressive dive accessory featured in popular dive magazine. Dealers finding BOAT COAT an easy sell to savvy divers.

Divegear Inc. is proud to announce that its Boat Coat $150.00 is a real good item to use... however if this is cost prohibitive to you.. consider a Lands End/ LL Bean or EBauer windbreaker /pants outfit and keep warm... remember your body is stressed from diving and to catch a chill will only further stress you and could potentially risk a DCI... warm.. dry and hydrated..! so a bottle of water is good and Pedilyte helps if it has been a very arduous dive. < pedilyte better than Gatorade>

I looked at the sites for the dive equipment and they are very functional. I am not sure where or with which outfit you will be diving with/ snorkling or if you are going on your own.. but do remember to keep your buddy with you ... in sight. If you have a dive op .. leave things locked with them. if on your own on the beach.. wear your bathing suit under top/bottoms. get a quick dry towel..$14.95The Body Rag product is an extremely hydrophilic, microporous, reinforced, hi-tech, polymer sponge towel. Basically, a cool product that is multi-functional, highly durable, and really works! Used wet, it cools the body on a hot day or dries off anything wet after a sudden shower. The Body Rag towel is waffle textured on one side (for cooling), and smooth on the reverse side (for fast absorption). 33 1/4" x 13"

this will dry you in minutes and weight in at a fraction of a regular towel... and take up so little space.

quick drying shorts also helps: I find that Columbia also makes a womans dry short..

    i912884hz02.jpg

that is on sale right now ..

very lightweight and quick drying.. so that you "take the load off" for you considerably! I wish you the best time eva and lots of lovely memories!

  11. Hello, if you do decide on the "copy" of the first page ... do this prior to cruise and have it notarized as this will make it a viable means of Identification. I subscibe to the US Govt site on Immigration and they advised me to this effect.. That an unnotarization is not valid as a means of ID.. I had mine and my friends done for "just in case" and it turned out to be a handy means of id. and I felt better about not losing the "real deal"!

I have never taken clothes "downunder" so I found this discussion amusing. Buonancy control is crucial so excess weight for me is a no-no. the inflatible donut is a great idea for many reasons.. a marker for sure, hold item .. ok..see innovative delux innner tube, cover and flag.. very nicely priced. multi-purpose bags that can be used as a lift bag, on a reel as an upline float, as a drybag, or as an inflatable dive flag/float.

well, that took just a moment to research... I hope that helps. When I dive off ship. Leave only essentials in dry bag with lock on beach , in truck or with attendant. Less is more on those occasions. Good Luck!
