  1. Why do cruise ships not have lifeguards at the adult or children's pool? Wouldn't this be a liability issue?

no, because you swim at your own risk. parents that are drunk and lazy is no excuse, watch your kids. don't pass the blame on anyone else.

  2. I do respect those impacted, but I also question the childrens' supervision. This is a completely avoidable tragedy. A child drowned recently on I believe a Carnival cruise ship. Hopefully parents can learn from these tragedies that they must supervise their children at all times in the pools.

this is no ones fault but the parents. you swim at your own risk. The parents should go to jail and serve a life sentence. Doesn't matter what cruise line it happened on, it all falls on the parents.

  3. looking for the SAFEST parking not at the port of Miami. I saw a really good deal, and checked out the location on street view google. There was a lot of homeless people around the fence. I'm glad I looked 1st.

I'm am pretty sure everything is going to be cheaper then the port parking, so I am looking for the safest. Thanks for your help.

  4. With NCL the boarding usually starts between 11am and noon regardless of ship and/or port. If you want to get onboard as soon as possible, I'd suggest getting in to the port around 10am to 10:30am and while you need to wait a bit until you get onboard, you are surely amongst the first ones.

Many here think that the best thing to start the cruise is to have leisured lunch in MDR (opens usually at noon), cabins are usually ready after that and then drink or two while waiting for the muster drill to begin (usually 30 mins before departure) and right after the drill the sailaway party starts on the pool deck.

sweet, thanks for the tip. i am so excited, i feel like a little kid again. :D

  5. Looks like this OP is not cruising on NCL.

Hos signature includes a Royal Caribbean cruise....But the answer's the same. Odds are high that the OP will get an assignment before sailing.

lol, whoops. i need to change that now. i was originally going to go with royal caribbean, but the price was $269. When i was about to purchase, i double checked Norwegian and it went down to $169. So i am going to cruise with norwegian this time and am very excited. i will post my experience and comparison to royal Caribbean when i get back.

    Thanks for your help everyone.

  6. 1. It is your first day of vacation; I would want to be onboard as early as practical.

    2. Your logic makes no sense to me. What is your reasoning for thinking they save the best rooms for last?

That is my thinking, but i don't know, i am not an expert. That is why i am asking of you experienced cruisers for advice and tips. I won't get assigned a room until i check in, so i am trying to figure out when is the best time to embark.

  7. I am guessing the poster has a GTY room, and at this point no assignment. And, another guess... they are full, so they can not assign yet.

They are waiting to find cancellations to put the last few people in. Maybe 20 GTY cabins, maybe just one.

My common sense says they are not going to put anyone in the higher suites if they think they have a chance at putting the GTY people in lower category rooms.

So, later people MIGHT get better cabins. Or, they get the very last cabin that they really did not want to use do to issues.

    Gambling.

yes, i have a gty room. I really don't care what room i have sense i will only be sleeping there, but it would be great to be upgraded.

  8. My husband and I were on the 3-day sky Dec 20 for our 3rd anniversary. It was our second time. We absolutely loved it. I have the dailies and can scan them to anyone who wants them. I don't know how to post them on here. We ate at the main dining room all 3 nights. There is a contingent of servers from St Lucia. Find them - they were all fantastic. Comedian was good but we didn't like the adults only show - too crude. Sushi at the plantation bar was fantastic. We liked sitting at the Great Outdoors for lunch. We'll go again for sure.

If you could send the dailies to me i would really appreciate it. I am sailing Valentines Day.

  9. I'm going on my first cruise in May and I'm trying to find a good walking shoe and wondering what everyone recommends? It's a very port intensive Mediterranean cruise and I've signed us up for a LOT of tours so I need to find a good shoe that won't kill my feet.

Do you prefer a walking/running shoe, or a sandal type? I'm worried that my feet may be too hot in sneakers and socks, but sandals may not have enough support.

I have a lot of nurse friends that recommend New Balance sneakers, but are they worth the hype?

try fit flops, they have a lot of cushion. you can also look for very breathable running shoes, and buy some athletic socks with moisture wicking properties. not the cheap cotton 6-12 pack. but running shoes would be your best bet. new balance are great, but its made for more serious running. i really like my reebok zigs, i can walk in these all day, literally (disney world and universal studios from sunrise to sunset). it has a big foam cushioning and has been very comfy for me too.

  10. working out is the best way to see results. I worked out a month or 2 before the cruise and i feel and look better. i just had more confidence and more pep in my step. simply dieting won't get much done, exercise is the best way. but if you combine exercise and a good diet, you will be amazed with your results. taking long walks helps start you up, then you can increase your speed the more you do it. because of this i was able to wake up early and go to bed late and was able to do a lot while all my friends are still asleep and tired.
