  1. I found the app on uptodown app store...free..

    https://royal-caribbean-international.en.uptodown.com/android/download

green button 215.51 mb   left side of screen

It works fine. Check your tablet is above android 7 and it will work.

I googled uptodown and they have excellent record for screening all apps for viruses. It is safe to download and install. Your tablet may give a warning (mine did) about allowing alternate source. It directed me to settings where I ok'd the site and then proceeded to download then when finished clicked to open and voila my Royal app ...signed in and Alaska cruise appeared!

  2. Was on Granduer in Jan. this year. Met two couples that bid $55. and the other $65

and they won from inside to Large View . I bid on the same at $125. and did not get it.

So no understanding of how they choose who gets what. I understand it is an outside company that handles it for RCCL. I asked on board why at customer service and they couldn't explain...although

that evening a bottle of champagne was in our cabin when we returned..

I recently picked up some more free (BC) Covid tests, but they have a blue box and the brand in them is Artron Labs. Looks like a local BC company. Has anyone used these? I still have 2 left in my last green box, but just in case.

I cruised through accepted tests on Canada Govt. page and the blue Artron are good to use so will be accepted by cruise lines and lifecenters.

  4. Our last couple of cruises we also learned that you can look at tomorrow's menu when you

are finished dining in the main dining room and can choose what you desire for the next night's

meal. We were on a fixed time not sure how it would work for my time dining. Almost everything

was able to be made gluten free...we also mixed and matched if we liked something from one entree

and something else from another. They were very accommodating and the chef came out and said they enjoyed playing around and trying different ways of making a dish. Sometimes the sauce or fish was

pre-prepped with gluten or crust so couldn't be gluten free, but that was not often. Also the nook restaurant  by the whirlpools had gluten free pizza on request. Let your T.A. know and they can inform

RCCL your dietary needs before you board.

  5. Americans with a single criminal conviction that is not serious (maximum imprisonment of equivalent crime in Canada is less than ten years) may be allowed back into Canada if it has been more than a decade since full completion of all sentencing including any probation. For example, a person with one minor theft conviction for shoplifting may be considered deemed rehabilitated after ten years. To avoid the risk of a border refusal, however, court documents or other paperwork should be brought with you to Canada as old convictions can still raise questions at the border. Any criminal offense that involved violence, a weapon, or property damage does not qualify for Deemed Rehabilitation, and can render a person criminally inadmissible to Canada for life. A DUI is now considered a serious crime in Canada, and any such offense can now result in an American being refused entry at the Canadian border even if it happened more than ten years ago.

  6. We were travelling with a stop in Hong Kong, our airline went bankrupt. We phoned our mastercard

and the lady reversed the charges, she said that they have a few days receipts that they haven't

sent through to the airlines, so she could do it without the claim having to go through trustee etc.

I think the key would be to respond immediately.

hi all.... has anyone been on board recently (or still cruising ?)  and can share their experience ?  specifically, how safe is it ?  do people wear masks while walking the halls and main public areas ?  how is the dining experience in terms of covid safety ?  around the pool /deck area ? entertainment seating at capacity etc  ?   we cancelled 2 cruises last year and are considering jumping back in sooner than later, but still have some concerns !  much appreciated

    Hi Bluemoose,

I have posted on a couple of threads. Click my Maple leaf to check recent posts. I was on a 14 day from Barbados on Royal Caribbean Grandeur. As others have said most abide by the rules some do not.

No real enforcement unless you complain to staff. 25% capacity so lots of room , chose my seating area and was a good 20 ft. from nearest table. Of the 628 passengers about 40 positives at end of cruise. I am assuming these were from the unmaskers...so about a third if them ...I felt that if you do what doctors and nurses that deal with covid daily do and wear an N95 you are pretty safe. You can get a picture of crew infections at cruiselawnews . They have RCCL at 4 hospital ships rounding up sick crewmbers from the sailing with customer ships in Caribbean area. Quote from them follows...

"The number of infected crew members in the Royal Caribbean fleet is staggering. Royal Caribbean refuses to disclose the official numbers, but there is reliable information that there are a minimum of 1,500 infected ship employees transferred to the Vision and Rhapsody each and over 700 diseased crew members to the Jewel. Add in the several hundred transferred from the Liberty of the Seas to the Serenade late on Wednesday, and the total number of infected crew transferred transferred to these four ship is currently at a minimum of 4,000 and probably a few thousand more."

Even with this info we never felt threatened and enjoyed our cruise. If you are not an avid mask wearer then I would reconsider. You must be prepared for the costs of quarantine if you or your partner become positive.

    Hope this helps..

    Currently sold out.

Just went back today in Delta BC and picked up 5 boxes for sister in law and for next few months for myself.

Website said sold out, but when I phoned locally they said they still had a supply on hand. I ordered and picked them up an hour later. Not sure if other Bowers locations have any but Delta did. Not sure if they ship from locations or what the cost would be.

  9. I was wondering for those that have to pay for the PCR test, are you able to book an appoinment

at your last port before your cruise ends and get the results while you are on the ship. They would then be responsible for getting you cared for. I have booked appointments for Barbados as I am spending extra days after the cruise.

Please let is know if you receive a response.  Thanks.

Fairly generic response ...they have an expert team that apparently doesn't read with comprehension.

Nothing said about 42 day rule...

    Hello Brett,

  11. Here is my email to  Mr. Bayley at RCCL,

The CDC specifically states that if after 6 weeks (42 days) you cannot get the same mRna

vaccine, that it is ok to use the other brand. For RCCL to say that mixed vaccines should be administered within 42 days goes directly against CDC recommendations . Why RCCL is maintaining this arbitrary day restriction is beyond my comprehension.

    Dear Sir,
My wife and I are booked on 3 cruises in 2022 with RCCL and will not cruise as unvaccinated passengers. We are vaccinated with Pfizer and Moderna mix. Barbados says thats ok...Canada says it's
    ok.....the CDC says its ok...
Why does RCCL persist in maintaining a 42 day requirement for mixed mRNA vaccines
Updated considerations regarding mRNA vaccine dosing intervals; Updated considerations for immunocompromised people. Key points. COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for everyone 12 years and older for the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the United States.
    www.cdc.gov
    Clipped from CDC

    Interval between mRNA doses

The second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines should be administered as close to the recommended interval as possible, but not earlier than recommended (i.e., 3 weeks [Pfizer-BioNTech] or 1 month [Moderna]). However, individuals who receive the second dose up to 4 days before or at any time after the recommended date can be considered fully vaccinated.

Using the above strategies, every effort should be made to determine which vaccine product was received as the first dose to ensure completion of the vaccine series with the same product. In exceptional situations in which the mRNA vaccine product given for the first dose cannot be determined or is no longer available, any available mRNA COVID-19 vaccine may be administered at a minimum interval of 28 days between doses to complete the mRNA COVID-19 vaccination series. In situations where the same mRNA vaccine product is temporarily unavailable, it is preferable to delay the second dose (up to 6 weeks) to receive the same product than to receive a mixed series using a different product. If two doses of different mRNA COVID-19 vaccine products are administered in these situations (or inadvertently), no additional doses of either product are recommended at this time. Such persons are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 ≥2 weeks after receipt of the second dose of an mRNA vaccine.

Please update your policy to reflect the science that you yourself said you were following.
Look forward to your response to thousands of us Canadian cruisers.

    Thank you,

We are sailing on the Adventure of the Seas this July. Although the Bahamas government does not require fully vaccinated travelers to have a negative Covid test to enter into their country. It is a Royal Caribbean's requirement to have a negative RT-PCR test to get on the ship. By chance, does anyone from Toronto, Ontario happen to know where to get this test for a reasonable price? I did some research and it ranges from $175-$200 Canadian per person, including a certificate that we need to show.  So it adds up for both of us. Thank you in advance.

The waterloo clinic is doing it for 89.00     it's about an hour out from YYZ
